Instruction Sheet P/N 222_0 3/203 AltaBlue TT Melter Service Kit - P/N 249 This instruction sheet describes the upgrade or replacement of the motor assembly in the AltaBluet TT adhesive melter, model A4TP, P/N 50757. Remove the WARNING: Risk of personal injury or equipment damage! Refer to the safety information provided in the melter manual before servicing the melter. Failure to comply with the safety information provided can result in personal injury, including death. Required Tools: Phillips-head screwdriver 0- and 3-mm wrenches 3- and 4-mm hex keys. Switch the melter off. WARNING: Risk of electrocution! The control switch does not remove high-voltage power from the melter. Before opening the electrical compartment door, make sure the local power disconnect switch is in the off position and locked. Failure to properly disconnect the power from the melter can result in personal injury, including death. 4. Remove the four bolts () that secure the motor to the pump bracket. 5. Pull the motor, with the motor shaft coupling half (2) attached, away from the pump bracket until the motor assembly is outside the melter. 2. Disconnect power to the melter at the local power disconnect switch. NOTE: Make sure the coupling star remains on the the pump shaft. Strain relief 3. Remove the front cover. NOTE: The motor being removed may look different from the replacement motor. 6. Removethecouplingfromthemotor shaft. It will be installed on the replacement motor. 2 3 7. Remove the motor junction box cover (3) and disconnect all the motor cable leads from the terminal block inside the motor junction box. 4 8. Loosen the strain relief (4) retaining nut that secures the motor cable and remove the motor cable from the junction box.
Instruction Sheet (contd.) P/N 222_0 Page 2 Install the Replacement. Install the motor shaft coupling half () on the replacement motor (2), leaving the coupling set screw loose. 5. Reinstall the motor junction box cover (5). 6. Tighten the strain relief retaining nut. 9. Tighten the four pump bolts (6) to 3.5-6.3 NSm (0-2 ft-lb), then make sure the coupling assembly still slides freely across both shafts. 2. Loosen the set screw on the pump shaft coupling half (not visible). 3. Install the strain relief (3) from the kit in the bottom access hole on the motor junction box, but do not tighten the retaining nut. 4. Route the motor cable (4) through the strain relief into the junction box and connect the leads to the L, L2, L3, and PE terminals. 7. While aligning both halves of the coupling assembly, including the bronze center star, position the motor against the pump bracket and loosely install the four pump bolts (6). 8. Check the initial alignment of the drive assembly by sliding the coupling halves and star back and forth over the motor and pump shafts. The coupling components should move freely without binding. If they do not, adjust the position of the motor until free movement is achieved. 0. Center the coupling assembly over the shafts such that the star covers the gap between the shafts and then set a 2-mm (0.080-in.) gap between the star and one coupling half.. Tighten all the coupling set screws. 2. If the motor you replaced is different from the motor included in this service kit, continue to the next page to change the motor drive parameters. 5 2 If the motor you replaced is the same as the motor included in this service kit, continue to page 5 to check the motor rotation. 6 3 4 drive cable terminal block connections 3.5-6.3 NSm (0-2 ft-lb)
