INSTALLATION Client Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by do-it-yourselfers. NOTE: Be careful not to damage the rear bumper and body paint finish. The rear under spoiler should be installed only when the ambient air temperature is 15 C (60 F) or above. To allow the adhesive to cure, do not wash the vehicle for 24 hours. Please advise your client. 1. Mark both sides of the rear bumper the length of the reflector using the measurement shown. Attach a strip of masking tape along the three marks on each side. 2. Remove the rear bumper: Open the trunk lid, and remove the eight selftapping screws and two clips from the rear bumper. NOTE: If equipped, remove the rear splash guards. CLIP 8 SELF-TAPPING SCREWS 950702AH On each side, release the 12 hooks, and gently pull the rear bumper out from the body. 3 HOOKS 9 HOOKS REFLECTOR REFLECTOR 8.5 mm (0.3 in.) With the help from an assistant, remove the rear bumper (four hooks, and unplug the two vehicle connectors). Place the rear bumper on the blanket to prevent damage. 4. On the inside of the bumper, place each template around the left bumper reflector, and tape the templates to the bumper using masking tape. 4 HOOKS MASKING Align here. 2 VEHICLE CONNECTORS 950704AH Align here. Installing the Rear Under Spoiler 3. Using scissors, cut out the template. TEMPLATE TEMPLATE SCISSORS 920601AH 5. Using a pushpin, pierce the mark on each template. Remove the templates. 6. Using a pushpin, pierce the center of the eight scribe marks on the rear bumper. 9. While wearing eye protection, drill the two pierced marks using a 3 mm drill bit, then finish with a 12 mm hole saw. PUSHPIN PIERCED 8 SCRIBE S DRILL (3 mm 6 mm 12 mm DRILL BIT) 920402AR 7. While wearing eye protection, drill the eight pierced marks using a 3 mm drill bit, then finish with a 10 mm bit. 10. Using a file, remove any burrs from the holes. 11. Using an air saw, cut the rear bumper along the scribe line. DRILL (3 mm 10 mm DRILL BIT) SCRIBE LINE Cut out. 8 PIERCED S AIR SAW DRILL (3 mm 10 mm DRILL BIT) 920403AR 12. 13. Remove and discard the original spring nut from the bumper, and install one spring nut (supplied) onto the rear bumper. 16. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, clean the surface where the left rear under spoiler will attach. Allow the surface to dry before going to the next step. SPRING NUT BRACKET INSTALLATION POSITION (Clean with isopropyl alcohol.) HOLE (Do not use.) SELF-TAPPING SCREW 832505BH 910706CH 14. Attach the bracket to the rear bumper using one selftapping screw. 15. Peel back approximately 1½ inches of adhesive backing from each adhesive tape, and tape the ends to the front surface of the left rear under spoiler. 17. Install two seals over the two clips shown, and install one seal over the other clip shown. CLIP MASKING 3 ADHESIVE BACKINGS (Peel back 1½ inches and tape it to the front surface of the left rear under spoiler.) CLIP SEAL SEAL SEAL 920606BH 920605AH 2010 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 18. Loosely install the left rear under spoiler on the rear bumper using two fender bolts, one bumper bolt, and the three washer nuts. 3 WASHER NUTS (Loosely install.) 20. Install the four clip holders onto the four clips, but don t tighten them yet. While holding the left rear under spoiler up to the masking tape, tighten the four clip holders in the order shown. MASKING UNDER SPOILER Align here. BOLT 4 CLIPS FENDER BOLT 910707CH 2 19. Loosely install one self-tapping screw into the left rear under spoiler. 4 3 1 4 CLIP HOLDERS 920607BH 21. Using diagonal cutters, cut the excess off of each clip. SELF-TAPPING SCREW (Loosely install.) 832510AH 4 CLIPS Cut off. 910708BH 6 of 7 BII 42533-44799 (1008) 2010 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. 22. While pressing in on the bumper, slowly and carefully remove the two adhesive backings in the order shown. 27. With the help of an assistant, reinstall the rear bumper. ADHESIVE BACKING Press in on the rear bumper in the direction shown. 1 2 ADHESIVE BACKING 23. Using the rubber roller, roll over the rear under spoiler while applying firm pressure to set the adhesive. 8D1901CH 8D1903AH 28. Remove the two adhesive backings. Using the palm of your hand, press the rear under spoilers firmly against the rear bumper to ensure adhesion. DOUBLE-FACED ADHESIVE BACKING (Remove.) DOUBLE- FACED RIGHT 8D2201AJ RUBBER ROLLER 8D1902BH 24. Tighten the three washer nuts installed in step 18 and the self-tapping screw installed in step 19. 25.
