DAVIE4 Release Notes Workshop Content 18.49.5 Toolset 6.3.5 Original Publish Date: Jan 7, 2019 New Features 1. MY19 engine software (P191D) is now supported by DAVIE4. Note: Older versions of DAVIE4 cannot support this software. 2. Right Hand Stalk (RHS) programming functionality is now supported in DAVIE4. 3. A new DTC icon is added in Quick Check for the Transmission Control Module (TCM). This icon identifies when the DTC is a service-only DTC and should be given a lower priority. Example of service-only DTC ( ): 4. Enhanced engine overspeed information is now provided in the chart/trip recorder report for MY19 engine. a. First Overspeed Event b. Last Overspeed Event 1
c. Maximum Engine Speed During Overspeed Event d. Maximum Duration of Overspeed Event 2
FIXES & IMPROVEMENTS Quick Check 1. Corrected P3797 freeze frame parameter description for MY17+ engines: Exhaust gas pressure before DPF (Absolute Relative) 2. Corrected DEF quality sensor related DTC descriptions for P3931 / P3932 / P3933 / P3934 on MY13, 14, and 15A engines. 3. Updated various DTC descriptions for transmission control module (TCM), chassis module primary (CMP), and chassis module secondary (CMS). Monitoring 1. Changed exhaust gas temperature reference ranges from [-58 F 1742 F] to [-40 F 1472 F] to improve resolution and allow for easier analysis. a. Exhaust gas temp after BPV b. Exhaust gas temp before DOC c. Exhaust gas temp before DPF d. Exhaust gas temp after DPF e. Exhaust gas temp before SCR (EAS-3 only) f. Exhaust gas temp after SCR 2. Fuel pressure fuel intake module (Absolute) signal can be displayed in PSI or kpa. Testing 1. The ipane descriptions about the expected engine and fan speeds have been corrected for Activate the electronically controlled fan clutch test. a. The fan speed can be adjusted between 550 and 1500 rpm is steady at 2500 rpm. b. During the test, the engine runs at 1500 2000 rpm. 2. The dispensed fuel measurement unit (fl oz) was added in the Check the fuel shut off valve test. 3. The monitoring option is now enabled in Regenerate the DPF test. Repair Support 1. System air pressure in TCM Rail calibration is now reading in PSI. Session Report 1. Inaccurate signal spikes in warranty DTC pre / post freeze frames have been corrected. 3
Software 1. Ability to download software after manual identification of vehicle restored in the 18.49.5. Note: DAVIE4 update required if using version 18.49.4. 2. Precondition screen is now populated with entry conditions in the EBS-3, ELC, and DIP-5 programming. 4
Open Issues ISSUES 1. The second half of each of following Kenworth dual MSM switches are not displayed during switch monitoring, Detect the dash switches, and Learn the dash switches: Floodlight 1 + Floodlight 2 Floodlight 3 + Beacon Beacon Master Switch Module (MSM) WORKAROUND Even though the switches are not visible in DAVIE, Learn the dash switch will successfully program the switches into the MSM. If you suspect a fault with any of these switches, troubleshoot the issue in the following order: 1. Correct any DTCs related to these switches. 2. Perform a Learn the dash switches procedure, disconnect the switch, perform a key cycle, and check for an associated switch DTC with FMI-12 (Bad intelligent device). If an FMI-12 DTC is not present for the suspected faulty switch, replace the switch and/or LIN jumper, and perform Learn the dash switches again. If FMI-12 DTC is present for the suspected faulty switch, the switch is not defective. Reconnect the switch. 1. DAVIE4 periodically drops some signals when an attempt is made to record all channels simultaneously for MY13 or later MX-powered vehicles. Monitoring Use an appropriate monitor set (e.g. General engine) or create a custom set with a targeted list of signals. Testing 1. Check the cylinder compression, Evaluate No workaround at this time. the turbo actuator functionality and Diagnose the turbo actuator are unavailable for MY17 engines with RC07 software, and MY18 MX engines. 1. After programming the PCI and/or EAS, several inactive DTCs may be set. Clear the DTCs after the programming. Repair support 1. Running Rail calibration may fail and result Clear the DTCs and rerun the test. in TCM DTCs. 2. View the fast stop recorder disabled for all MX engines. No workaround at this time. 3. When executing Reset common rail pressure, DTCs may be set. Clear the DTCs after the reset. 1. EAS software number is not recorded in session reports when EAS programming is performed following an automatic update prompt. Reports Refer to DAVIE for newly updated EAS software number or restart the DAVIE session. 2. Viewing the trip and total recorder information may show incorrect information on some vehicles. When incorrect information is suspected, rely on driver-collected and instrument display data (fuel added, distance travelled) to calculate fuel economy, total trip, etc. 6
