KenTec Denmark LIDAR WIND MEASUREMENT Our solution in remote sensing contain build-in Lidar with autonomous power supply allowing unmanned automatic operation on remote locations. The complete system is equipped with remote communication allowing supervision of both the wind data and the power supply. Through the WEB, the system is full time online. Built into the cargo trailer, the Lidar is well protected. Further, inside the container is found the battery bank, controllers and a diesel backup, should the solar and wind generator fail to charge the batteries. Thus, the environment inside the container offers great comfort for both equipment and personnel working on the unit. KENT.LARSEN@KENTEC.DK 1
Inside the container, the diesel generator operates autonomous by the controller from Deep Sea Electronics allowing both manual and WEB based remote operation. The controller monitors the conditions of the battery bank and should the solar and wind generator not be able to maintain adequate voltage level, the diesel generator will start up and charge the batteries. The diesel tank contain 75 litres of diesel allowing long time autonomous operation of the system. Below the diesel elevation bench, a compartment can be used for engine oil. The four 6Volt GEL batteries, supplying 24VDC to the system, are built into an airtight isolated aluminium container, which also allow room for tools, manuals and other equipment that need protection from humidity. When the diesel generator operates, the batteries are charged and maintained by an intelligent charger by up to 60 Amps. Next to the charger an inverter, supply a 230VAC socket for up to 1000W pure sine curve. The battery bank voltage may vary in voltage depending on the charge level. However, the supply for the Lidar is maintained fixed at 24,5 VDC by a stable DC/DC inverter. The Lidar is imbedded into the container roof. The picture below presents the Lidar next to a GPS antenna on which adjustable rod an IP Camera is attached. This camera can be used as theft protection as it has a PIR sensor build in which register movement in front of the lenses and takes a photo (or video) of what is in front of it. When a picture is taken, immediately it is forwarded with an e-mail to the operator. The camera can also take a picture of the surface of the Lidar so the operator can see if the sensor surface is free and uncovered and the wiper is working properly. Behind the Lidar, the fan box is mounted. When the diesel generator operates, the fan is engaged. The fan box has its outlet pointing toward the Lidar in level with the Lidar s surface, thus when running, warm air is blown over the Lidar s sensor plate keeping it free of ice, snow or leaves etc. Attached to the fan box the meteorological sensor that follow the Lidar is found. The Lidar is fixed to the container roof allowing the personnel operation and connection of Laptop computers etc. comfortly at standing height. Besides the Lidar the external sprinkler tank is found. This contain 15 litres of sprinkler fluid to maintain the level of the internal reservoir. Adjusting the Lidar: The Lidar is adjusted to a fixed angle related to the trailer, so that levelling the trailer correctly will same time level the Lidar correctly. The trailer is held in a backward angle allowing water to run off the roof and interior. Levelling the trailer is done by adjusting four legs in each corner of the trailer. A spirit leveller inside the trailer box indicates when the correct level is reached. KENT.LARSEN@KENTEC.DK 4

Remote control and supervision Both the Lidar and the power supply can be supervised remotely via the Internet. Below the SpiDAR CCU provides a detailed view of the measured data online. KENT.LARSEN@KENTEC.DK 6
Vital informations like voltage on the battery bank, fuel level on the diesel tank, temperature and if in operation, also the conditions of the diesel generator. The diesel generator can be operated for Manual and Automatic operation. Each analog instrument can present historical values on graphs or exported as ascii files for Excel etc. KENT.LARSEN@KENTEC.DK 7
An event list and alarm list is also presented remotely. Besides the Lidar s GPS, the DSE Webnet system is equipped with a GPS that present the current location on a map. Thus, two redundant GPS systems presents the location of the equipment. KENT.LARSEN@KENTEC.DK 8
An APP for smart phones is available and enables supervision and operation of the power system. KENT.LARSEN@KENTEC.DK 9
