Introduction This instruction manual contains important information for the safe operation of the control and switch panel. It is essential to read and to follow the given safety information. The instruction manual should always be kept in the motorhome/caravan. All safety information must be passed on to other users. Failure to comply with this sign may lead to the endangerment of persons. Failure to comply with this sign may damage the device or the connected consumers. This sign indicates recommendations or special features. The reproduction, translation and duplication of this manual, even in parts, is not allowed without written authorization. 2 Safety information The design of the control and switch panel is state-of-the-art and according to approved safety technology regulations. Nevertheless, if the safety information in this instruction manual is not closely followed, persons might be injured or the control and switch panel might be damaged. Do not use the control and switch panel if it is not in technically good order and condition. The instruction manual must be followed. Any technical faults affecting the safety of persons or of the control and switch panel must be dealt with immediately by qualified personnel. The motorhome's or caravan's electrical system must comply with the valid DIN, VDE and ISO regulations. Manipulations of the electrical system will endanger the safety of persons and the vehicle, and are therefore prohibited. Never make any modifications to the control and switch panel. Connection work is only to be carried out after the power has been disconnected. Only qualified personnel are permitted to make the electrical connection and this must be carried out according to the Schaudt installation instructions. The living area battery will be irreparably damaged if it is totally discharged or overcharged for a long period. Switch off the 12-V main switch when you leave the vehicle. This prevents the living area battery from unnecessarily discharging. 2 Issued 24.08.2005 SDT-0050-00EN
Description and appropriate use The job of the LT 109-4 A control and switch panel is to control the electrical functions in the motorhome's living area and to display various values such as battery voltages and water tank levels. This system includes: An Electrobloc, consisting of a charger module, the 12-V distribution and the fuses for each circuit Tank sensors for measuring the filling level in the water tank 1 2 3 4 5 6 LT 109-4 Fig. 1 LT 109-4 A control and switch panel 1 12-V main switch 2 12-V indicator lamp, green 3 Battery voltage indicator lamps 4 Battery voltage switch 5 Tank level indicator lamps 6 Tank level switch SDT00259 4 Electrical data Operating voltage 12 V (10 14.5 V), powered via Electrobloc SDT-0050-00EN Issued: 24.08.2005 3
Operation 5.1 Switching the 12-V power supply for the living area on and off 12-V main switch The 12-V main switch switches all consumers on and off. Press the top of the switch: The 12-V power supply is switched on. The green 12-V indicator lamp lights up. Press the bottom of the switch: The 12-V power supply is switched off. The green 12-V indicator lamp does not light up. Switch off the 12-V main switch when you leave the vehicle. This prevents the living area battery from unnecessarily discharging. 5.2 Checking the battery voltage Three indicator lamps display the charge status of the battery according to the battery voltage in three levels. As soon as you press the switch, the indicator lamp for the current voltage range lights up. Battery voltage switch Press the top or bottom of the switch: The voltage range of the living area battery is displayed. 4 Issued 24.08.2005 SDT-0050-00EN
The following table will help you correctly interpret the living area battery voltage ranges displayed by the indicator lamps. These values apply to actual operation, not off-load voltage. Battery voltage range Mobile operation Vehicle moving Battery operation Vehicle stationary, no 230-V connection Power operation Vehicle stationary, no 230-V connection Red The alternator is not charging the battery If the consumers are switched off: battery empty The Electrobloc is not charging the battery Less than 11 V - Risk of total discharge 12-V power supply overloaded If the consumers are switched on: battery overload 12-V power supply overloaded Yellow The alternator is not charging the battery 1) Normal range The Electrobloc is not charging the battery 1) 11 V to 12 V 12-V power supply overload 1) 12-V power supply overload 1) Green Battery being charged Battery fully charged Battery being charged More than 12 V 1) If voltage does not exceed this range for several hours. The living area battery will be irreparably damaged if it is totally discharged or overcharged for a long period. Switch off some of the consumers if the 12-V power supply is overloaded. Inactive consumer appliances can gradually discharge the battery. 5.3 Living area battery alarm If the living area battery will be irreparably damaged if it is left totally discharged for a long time. Battery voltage warning lamp The red battery voltage indicator lamp serves as a warning lamp and flashes as soon as the living area battery voltage falls below 11.0 V. Switch off all consumers. Charge the living area battery by driving or by connecting it to the 230-V mains. SDT-0050-00EN Issued: 24.08.2005 5
.4 Checking the tank level Four indicator lamps display the filling level of the water tank. The tank level is displayed as soon as you press the switch. Polling the tank levels is unsuitable for permanent running. The sensors might get damaged if used permanently. Tank level switch Press the top or bottom of the switch: The water tank level is displayed. The following table will help you correctly interpret the tank levels displayed by the indicator lamps. Indicator lamp Tank level Full or almost full Roughly 3/4 full Roughly 1/2 full Roughly 1/4 full No indicator lamp lights up Empty or almost empty 6 Starting up The control and switch panel can only be started up with an Electrobloc and the accessories for measuring the water tank levels. Connection work is only to be carried out after the power has been disconnected. 6 Issued 24.08.2005 SDT-0050-00EN
Maintenance The control and switch panel does not require maintenance. Cleaning Clean the front plate with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a mild detergent. Never use spirit, thinners or similar substances. Do not allow any fluid to penetrate the inside of the control and switch panel. 8 Shutting down Disconnecting the living area battery from the 12-V power supply Disconnect the living area battery from the 12-V power supply if you are not going to use the vehicle for a lengthy period (i. e. during the winter). Switch off the 12 V main switch. See the Electrobloc instruction manual for other shutdown tasks. 9 Technical faults, possible causes and remedies Please contact our customer service address if you are unable to rectify a fault using the following tables. If this is not possible, e. g. if you are abroad, you can have the control and switch panel repaired at a specialist workshop. Inexpert repairs invalidate the guarantee for the control and switch panel and Schaudt GmbH takes no liability for any resulting damage. Fault Possible cause Remedy 12-V power supply does not work 12-V indicator lamp does not light up No voltage in living area battery 12-V main switch is switched off 12-V main switch is switched off Living area battery not charged, battery monitor has switched off Living area battery is discharged The battery can be discharged by inactive consumers such as the frost protection valve in the heater system Switch the 12-V main switch on Switch the 12-V main switch on Charge the living area battery Charge the living area battery immediately If the living area battery is totally discharged for a lengthy period, it will be irreparably damaged Fully charge the living area battery before you shut down the motorhome for any lengthy period SDT-0050-00EN Issued: 24.08.2005 7
