EV-MARKET IN EUROPE HIGHLY FRAGMENTED. MARKET SUCESS DEPENDING ON INCENTIVES AND CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE. BMW Group 07/2018 in Europe BMW market share BEV & PHEV EU (EU-average: 6,1%) 74,0% 12,3% 3,7% 7,3% 2,3% 6,7% 2,8% 7,7% 5,2% 6,6% 6,7% 5,2% Sonstige Demand for electrified vehicles is politically defined and is not self sustaining. Although the vehicle offer is the same for all markets, the market share of those vehicles is totally different. electro mobility - perspective from the automotive sector AK-40 25.09.2018 Page 3

STRONG GROWTH RATES E.G. IN GERMANY. ABSOLUT NUMBERS REMAIN LOW AND OVERALL EU MARKET SHARE ABOUT 2%. electro mobility - perspective from the automotive sector AK-40 25.09.2018 Page 4

NORWAY: AVAILABLE INCENTIVES FOR ELECTRIC VEHICLE BUYERS/OWNERS. Buying or leasing: No purchase tax Zero VAT Owning: Low annual road tax 50 % company car tax Federal Level Buyers of BEVs pay no tax and no VAT on purchase. Tax regime for gasoline- and dieselcar is quite high compared to other countries. The tax/vat advantages for BEVs is guaranteed to last until 2020. Parliament: It should always be economically beneficial to choose zero emission before high emission By September 2017, the incentives has secured a sale of 120.000 BEVs in Norway so far. Federal Level Using: Well developed EV charging infrastructure Free public charging Free parking Access to bus/taxi lanes No fee for toll roads No payment for the car on ferries Workplace charging is offered in some extent Local level The developement of a reliable public charging network and fast charging options (like «Fortum») play an important role for the EV-sales developement in Norway As from 2017, it is up to the different local municipalities to grant free parking. (Most of them do.) Free parking might have some different time restrictions (max. 2 hours/6 hours/10 hours/15 hours) Access to bus/taxi lanes might have some local restrictions, as min. 2 passengers during rush hours On ferries, one only pays for the passengers, not the car (as one does with all other cars) Lots of different companies has set up charging possibilities for their customers, like IKEA and McDonalds. electro mobility - perspective from the automotive sector AK-40 25.09.2018 Page 5

CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE FOR ELECTRIC MOBILITY: CITIES AND COUNTRIES MUST SUPPORT FURTHER DEPLOYMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE. San Francisco charging points 652 0,87 Mio. 0,75 Amsterdam charging points 4010 Oslo charging points 784 0,98 Mio. 4,1 0,95 Mio. 0,8 Berlin charging points 556 Hamburg charging points 852 3,7 Mio. 1,81 Mio. 0,15 0,5 Peking charging points 3386 21,7 Mio. BEST PRACTICE COPENHAGEN: DRIVENOW OPERATED BY ARRIVA. INTEGRATING CAR SHARING AND PUBLIC TRANSPORT. Rejsekort 2 mio. Danes have a Rejsekort. Nation-wide access to trains, buses, metro. Rejsekort is DriveNow access medium. 68 % of DriveNow customers have registered with Rejsekort. DriveNow Full electric fleet. 400 BMW i3. 23,000 + customers. 80,000 + drives. Intermodal routing. BMW I CHARGE FORWARD 2.0. PROJECT PHASE 2 STARTING APRIL 2017. Scaling Up to 400 participants. BMW i & iperformance (= BEV & PHeV) customers. Entire San Francisco Bay Area. New Features - Longer curtailment events. - Optimizing nighttime charging. - Increasing charging in response to local/system excess solar on the grid. - Shifting charging across grid locations (home & away-fromhome) - Messaging to engage customers. electro mobility - perspective from the automotive sector AK-40 25.09.2018 Page 9

BMW I CHARGE FORWARD HELPING STABILIZE THE GRID. SOLUTION IS BASED ON BMW BACK END AND VEHICLE TELEMATICS. The BMW software backend / cloud communicates with each participating vehicle using the on-vehicle telematics system Customers First BMW only selects vehicles to participate, if they meet a minimum state of charge and the driver is willing to participate Backend BMW uses a 2 nd Life battery storage system to supplement the vehicle pool electro mobility - perspective from the automotive sector AK-40 25.09.2018 Page 10

IMPORTANT FACTORS FOR A MARKET SUCCESS OF ELECTROMOBILITY. JOINED EFFORTS NEEDED FROM INDUSTRY AND POLICY MAKERS. attractive product offer by OEMs holistic incentive schemes to spur customer demand (financial & non financial schemes) adequant deployment of charging infrastructure (charge @ home / charge @ work / charge on the go) fostering synergies of electro mobility and the energy transition (intelligent dynamic charging, integration of renewables, V2G and battery 2nd use storage) Electro mobility is part of the solution to solve challenges in the future. electro mobility - perspective from the automotive sector AK-40 25.09.2018 Page 12
