CREST & WINGS Southern California Region of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club, Inc. January 2019 www.clcsocal.com Celebrating the 1969 Cadillac
Director s Corner A very happy 2019 to all my fellow SoCal CLC members! I hope the holidays treated you and your families well, and that you re all set for another year of motoring pleasure, Cadillac Style! Your board of directors is working hard to plan events we hope you ll find fun and that you ll want to participate in. Speaking of participation, thanks to all our members who joined us for our annual Fall car show at Martin Cadillac in November, especially Martha Chapman, whose lovely Colonial Yellow Deville Convertible was the star of our birthday party for the 1969 Cadillacs. In February, I m pleased to announce that the Lincoln Owners Club will join us for our annual winter car show at Lakewood Country Club. A flyer was included in the last newsletter, and another copy may be found in this issue. Our events coordinator, Betsy Davenport, has also sent a copy of the flyer out via email. Space will fill up quickly this year, so make sure to register early! Remember, too, that the SoCal Region will again participate in the L.A. Classic Auto Show, this year in Orange County. We had a lot of fun showing off our club last year at the L.A. Convention Center, and I m looking forward to spreading the word about our club this year! Please plan to come on down, see all the wonderful cars of all types and eras on display, and visit with us at our display. We d love to see you there! As a quick reminder, all members of the Southern California Region CLC must also be current members in good standing with the national CLC. Every year, national flags a few of our members who inadvertently let their national membership lapse. I know it can be confusing, especially if your renewal dates for national and the SoCal Region fall at different times. We want all our members to be able to remain with us, so please make sure that both your regional and national memberships are up to date. Besides, who wants to miss out on The Self-Starter? It s awesome! See you on the road! Craig

2018 Annual Fall Car Show Honoring the 1969 Cadillac Martin Cadillac Sunday, November 4, 2018 PAST EVENTS We were blessed with a gorgeous, sunny So Cal day on November 4, 2018 for our Annual Fall Car Show. Consistent with tradition, we honored the Golden Anniversary of the 1969 Cadillac and introduced the brand-new 2019 models. We had a great variety of Cadillacs and LaSalles on the show field ranging from a 1939 LaSalle Meteor Hearse to a 2019 CTS-V with a total of 40 cars on display and 70 people participating plus many people simply viewing the show. Seth Waskow, General Manager of Martin Cadillac, graciously paid for lunch for the participants. The delicious food was provided by The Berlin Truck (serving sausage and gourmet grilled cheese). At the Awards Ceremony, we presented a plaque to Seth as a thank you for his generosity. Awards of Excellence were presented to Omar Prioleau for his 1956 Convertible and to Norm Ash for his 1953 Coupe. Martha Chapman was honored for showing her 1969 Colonial Yellow DeVille Convertible. It was a great celebration of Cadillacs and LaSalles.

Cadillac & LaSalle Club of Southern California Merchandise POLO SHIRTS The new SoCal CLC Polos are in! Available in RED or BLACK, in both MEN s and WOMEN s cuts. $35 each, postage paid. Please specify SIZE and COLOR, and include your name, address, and phone number when ordering. Perhaps the most endearing feature of these new CLC fender covers is how great they look. The large old style Cadillac script will remind you of the days when you car was being serviced at a dealership many years ago. Many postwar Cadillac distributors, factory branches, and dealerships used these logo-type fender covers in their service departments. According to our sources, in general, fender covers were traditionally red in color prior to 1960 and blue thereafter. However, in some parts of the country, red was the only color available until recently. Black fender covers have become popular in recent years (late 1980 and 1990s). CLC fender covers may be ordered directly from the Southern California Region. The price is only $45.00 each, or two for $70.00, postpaid.
