MDT City Go Topless!
The new MDT City Crane concept Aiming for Productivity 2 The MDT City Crane is so well thought out that you can maximise productivity from your investment without compromising on safety: while in use, during maintenance, during erection and dismantling, or while being transported between sites. Rapid erection and dismantling: - All the electrical connections for the cab, electrical cabinets and slewing motors are factory cabled - Chamfered counter-jib ballast blocks for easy placing - A new cross-shaped base comprised of two arms only Inter-site transportation made easy: - Counter-jib folds back for transportation - A combined cab/pivot unit Plusieurs solutions de transport Excellent productivity during operation Through its performance levels: m m t 55 60 3,8 40,8 4,5 55,6 3,8 6 1,6 4,5 55,8 8 1,5 6 67 Through drive control: - All mechanisms are equipped with variable frequency, including the latest Optima+ slewing mechanism, which permits a driving mode with counter-slewing. Through the versatility of its design: - To optimise crane fleet operation, interchangeable components such as mast sections, cross-shaped base units, counter-jib ballast blocks and telescoping cages from MD/MDT/MR type cranes can be used. - Standard, interchangeable jib sections. m t
1. Assembling the counter-jib on the ground One single section, folded for transportation, with lifting points. A brand new, registered design The counter-jib unfolds rapidly. No locking required Integrated ready-to-fit pin and moment safety device 2. Assembling the jib on the ground 3 Fishplate for centring pin and port to enable quick and easy pinning Maintenance safety rope on each 5 m section Centring of jib sections and wedge-locking of the pins. Quick and simple assembly
3. Installation of the cab-mast One single, very compact cab-mast section. A dual-function guardrail protects the cab during transportation. Slinging from 3 points for excellent balance. While packed for transportation, access to the cab and electrical cabinet is not possible. 4 After removal of the guardrail, the cab is rotated manually. Cab rotated and locked in the working position No connections required. The slewing mechanism, electrical cabinet and cab are already cabled in the factory. The electrical cables are all centralised in the tube of the cab-mast. Only the hoist and trolley mechanisms, with their respective safety devices, need to be plugged in. Easy to fit The protective guardrail is now placed on the access platform.
4. Erection of the counter-jib Simplified assembly using only 2 pins. These pins are tapered for easier fitting. Balanced slinging points 5 Notches for guiding and centring A self-ballasting frame is available as an option. The ballast blocks are chamfered at the base for easy placing.
5. Fitting the jib The jib, following the City concept, is fully assembled and cabled on the ground. The hoist motor at the base of the jib allows the complete cabling of the hoist and trolley mechanisms. The jib is then placed by a mobile crane in one lift. A sufficient number of slinging points for the jib, whatever its length, allows it to be lifted horizontally. As with the counterjib, notches are used to guide and centre the jib. 6 Full view of an MDT City Crane. Remarkable design and elegance.the machine, with its variable height jib, optimises load capacity. The MDT concept improves multiple crane site installations by reducing overflying heights. 6. Final pinning of the jib The pin to be fitted is close by Rotating the connecting link Pin locked into place
Options A self-ballasting frame is available as an option. It can be used to complete ballasting without a mobile crane and also for unballasting in particular dismantling situations. 7 Double trolley version. This allows the lifting of heavy loads with coupled trolleys, as well as a heavy load at the end of the jib using only one trolley. Electrical collector. It maintains the electrical connection between the fixed and turning pivot. The number of turns allowed is unlimited (models without a rotation collector are restricted to two turns in each direction). SM/DM version (2 falls/4 falls)
The Vision cab and variable frequency mechanisms give a comfortable, ergonomically efficient and productive driving environment. 7. Driving the crane Integrated screens 8 Variable frequency mechanism for flexibility and productivity Variable frequency is controlled by Dialog Pilot, the intelligent dialogue system between man and machine.
A 40% increase in window area compared with standard cabs, giving exceptional downward visibility and reduction of blind spots Ergonomically redesigned driving position means that the driver s eyes never have to leave the operating zone. 9
Variable frequency is standard on all the movements 8. Mechanisation The LVF Optima (variable frequency hoisting), available in 33 and 50 hp. The DVF (variable frequency trolleying). 10 The RVF (variable frequency slewing) in an Optima+ version. The Optima+ gives two slewing modes. The first for conventional driving. The second allows braking by counter-slewing. Three motors that increase productivity by adding flexibility and precision. 9. Maintenance Derrick comes as standard. Can be mechanised by an auxiliary winch. Maximum load 450 DaN The auxiliary winch (optional) is one method of mechanising the arm.
10. Maintenance - Access The catwalk in the jib allows risk-free access beyond the trolley mechanism as far as the jib slinging points. The clearance within the jib at its base allows maintenance personnel to remain upright when passing through. Servicing platform comes as standard. Maintenance of the trolley mechanism is easy and safe. A servicing and inspection catwalk situated on the same side as the cab provides a safe environment for maintenance personnel who remain within the crane driver s field of vision. 11 This catwalk provides maintenance access to the jib trolley in safety and comfort. Jib servicing platform reached from the cab. This area also provides maintenance access to the hoist winch. These accessories provide a safe, comfortable environment for maintenance personnel. They are all supplied as standard with the crane (with the exception of the auxiliary winch).
