Section 1 Product range introduction Section 1 - Product range introduction 80V CESAB B600 The CESAB B600 is an 80 volt, 4 wheel forklift truck range with available capacities from 2.0 to 5.0 tonnes. The 2.0 tonne model provides users with a very compact chassis, large capacity batteries and high performance. The 2.5 and 3.0 tonne models are also available in a long wheelbase version. This is identified by an L at the end of the truck reference. The bigger chassis allows these trucks to be equipped with high capacity batteries to increase the truck s autonomy and length of operating hours, the same available on the 3.5 tonnes model. The high capacity models include 3 versions (4.0, 4.5 and 5.0 tonnes) with the same frame and wheelbase and different counterweights according to the capacity. The 5.0 tonnes model has a 600mm load centre, providing an increased residual capacity and stability. All B600 chassis frames are equipped as standard with removable upper side panels. This promotes quicker and easier battery removal from above using a crane. The B600 series trucks are equipped with powerful AC technology motors, IMD technology mast and robust chassis and metal panels to provide reliability and passive safety. The battery, with capacity of up to 930Ah, can be removed laterally - when the truck is fitted with the side extraction option - to increase productivity in multi-shift applications. The latest generation of CESAB electric powered counterbalanced trucks are named the B Series. The first digit identifies the trucks series, 6 for the 80V B600 range. The second and third digits are referring to the nominal capacity of the truck 25, for example, indicates a lift capacity of 2.5 tonnes. The addition of the letter L at the end of the model reference indicates a longer chassis allowing the truck to be equipped with higher capacity batteries. 4 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 2 - Market and applications Section 2 - Market and applications Electric Trucks European Market Overview Currently the European counterbalanced forklift market is roughly divided equally between electric and IC trucks with 54% of the trucks shipped in 2012 being with either diesel or LPG combustion engines. Following the 2008-10 economic crisis there has been a recovery and a renewed growth trend bringing back the number of electric trucks shipped into the market to around 59,000 units. By 2010 the percentage of electric trucks had been increasing and this trend was mainly driven by the increase of fuel costs and the increasing focus of companies on environmental issues. This has had the effect of increasing the share of electric trucks by around 3% in the last 5 years. Looking at the different voltages available for electric trucks in the European market the largest sector by far is represented by 48 volt trucks. This includes 3 wheel trucks such as the B300 and 4 wheel trucks such as the B400 with around the 57% of the total electric market. 24 volts forklifts, such as the B200, represent 15% of the overall market. 80 volt trucks represents almost 28% of the electric truck market, with a potential market of around 17,000 units up to 5.0 tonnes and 14,000 in the B620-635 range up to 3.5 tonnes. Market Segmentation The 80V market is currently almost 30% of the electric truck European market and is divided in many capacity ranges from 1.6 tonnes to much high tonnage models. The enlargement of the Cesab 80V range to now include the new 2.0 tonnes model allows us to offer a compact 80V truck, with dimensions and turning radius performance comparable to a 48V truck, to customers that are looking for a very compact and powerful truck for intensive use. This potential market represents around 2.500 units as a new opportunity for Cesab. On the largest segment, from 2.5 to 3.0 tonnes, with around 10.000 units and more than 60% of the overall 80V market, Cesab is now able to offer a wide range of alternatives with long and short chassis versions and different dimensions of the battery to match the customer requirements according to their specific applications. The 3.5 tonnes model completes the range with a compact, reliable and powerful high capacity forklift truck, which will compete in a potential market of almost 2.000 units. 8 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 2 - Market and applications The 80V market is dominated by the 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes models. The market segment of the high capacity 80V B640-650 represents 15% of the 17.000 unit market. This means a potential market of almost 2.500 trucks per year over 4.0 tonnes where the new B600 can compete. Target Applications The B600 range is suitable to be used in many intensive applications. As a result of the compact dimensions the CESAB B600 can work in narrow indoor areas, while the availability of cabin configurations, powerful heating system and the motors index of protection, the B600 is suitable to be used in intensive outdoor applications, and even as alternative to IC trucks. 80V trucks are used by some customers that want to switch from internal combustion to electric trucks. CESAB B600 series can meet this challenge as a result of the easy and quick battery exchange options allowing it to be more competitive in terms of uptime, lowering the material handling operational costs and producing no emissions. Main B600 applications are found in manufacturing plants, being used as feeder trucks to line side, long distance transport activities and heavy press/ die handling for large tonnages. 80V trucks like this are popular in the distribution industry for warehouse stacking/loading and unloading and for outside loading and unloading even on uneven floors. 80 volt trucks, adapted to improve usability, can be used for operations in the pharmaceuticals, food and even corrosive, wet and salty environments. Thanks to the increased residual capacity, powerful motors and large batteries B600 can be used also for applications requiring multi-forks, clamps or special attachments. The high customization level and the full customization of the performances according to various application and driver skills, make the B600 a good solution for customer fleets and rental. Standard feature are the 40 different pin access codes and the 15 programmable profiles, besides the well-known LPH driving configurations. Side battery extraction and high capacity batteries up to 930Ah make this model range most useful in heavy duty applications where regular battery exchange and increased uptime are important. 9 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity Section 3 - Product details Motors and pumps Traction and lifting The B600 range is equipped with powerful 20.0 kw (25.2 kw on B640-650) power AC drive motor and a 25.5 kw lifting AC motor. These motors provide high performance in terms of travelling and lifting speed with efficient energy consumption. The compact and strong front axle group helps enhance the truck durability by protecting the integrated drive unit motor, the differential and wet disk braking system from external agents such as dust and water. Importantly this allows the B600 truck to be used for applications in outdoor environments where you would normally expect to use an IC machine. The motor group is compact, powerful and with low noise, providing improved travel speed, lifting speed and acceleration in combination with an optimum control of the driving smoothness and direction change. Section 3 Product details: productivity Automatic traction speed reduction With lifted forks The masts of the B600 trucks are fitted with two sensors that automatically adjust the maximum travelling speed according to the lifting height and the presence of a load on the forks. When the truck is with load and the mast is raised above 500mm from the ground, the maximum travel speed is automatically reduced to 6 and 10 km/h if the truck is operating without load on the forks. If, however, the operator continues to raise the load over the upper sensor (height switch OPEN), positioned between 2000 and 3000mm from the ground according to the mast height, the maximum travel speed will be automatically reduced to 3 km/h. In the case where the load is then lowered again, the maximum speed reached will remain set at 6 or 10 km/h. To reset this function and restore the level of the standard speed of the mast it is necessary to stop the truck and restart again in the desired direction. The sensors, then, will detect again the height and weight of the load and will set the proper speed of the forklift. 11 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity Mast IMD Intelligent Mast Design technology The B600 truck is equipped with a completely new mast design, with a wide central window between the twin full free lift cylinders, for improved safety and productivity. Masts need to be robust, stiff and slim. Yet as welded structures they also need to bend in a controlled, safe and limited way to guarantee proper stability of not only the load but the truck, enabling operators to maintain full manoeuvrability in all working conditions. As well as stiffness, load stability and precision, masts need to be effective in extreme conditions, such as heightrestricted areas, to ensure maximum lifting height with minimum dimensions. Increased mast strength has been achieved through a patented double C mast profile, exclusive to CESAB, which delivers greater rigidity in the mast while increasing stability. This means operators are much more productive and feel more confident when operating the forklift with loads at height. Mast strength has been further improved by using an optimised welding process in manufacturing, with different types of welding used for different points of the mast. This results in a higher-performance, high strength mast with reduced stress and wear, and greater protection against damage due to overload. IMD has achieved such robustness, stiffness and precision of the mast because special rails are machined as part of a patented process, and special combined rollers are used to ensure precise, smooth movement. The perfect coupling between the rollers and rail channel virtually eliminates longitudinal and lateral clearance a major advantage in terms of precision and noise reduction in operation. Mast load sensor, available as option, provides protection against mast overloading. 12 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity Visibility is a critical issue for forklift truck operators and people working in the vicinity of the forklift. The view of the surrounding area and of the load is affected by the mast as it is right in front of the operator. Each manoeuvre is safer and more efficient when the operator enjoys optimum visibility, so the mast must not compromise the view to the front, especially when moving. The layout of the load-bearing structure, the profile shape, tie bars, cylinders and other components must all be designed with this in mind. IMD provides operators with good visibility through the use of two full free lift cylinders, along with the integration of all cables and hydraulic hoses within the mast uprights. The double full free lift cylinders provide excellent forward visibility allowing fast and accurate stacking operations as well as loading and unloading. The 3rd and 4th ways are integrated into the mast to further optimise visibility as well as providing protection to the hoses. The design of the load bearing structure, the profile shape, tie bars, cylinders and other components have also been optimized to provide maximum visibility without compromising on strength, rigidity or the controlled flex required to maintain stability with loads at height. Good sightlines through the mast mean that operators do not need to continually adjust their position or move their head as frequently when positioning the forks. This helps them to achieve faster and more accurate stacking, loading and unloading operations, as well as offering increased comfort during long shifts. Quieter operation is achieved through the use of a hydraulic brake effect during lifting and lowering of the mast. This makes operating movements smoother with reduced noise and vibration. It also improves load stability and reduces fatigue and stress in the working environment for the operator and other workers. IMD also helps to reduce the lifetime cost of CESAB forklifts by incorporating adjustable roller pads, which enable quick and easy maintenance. CESAB technicians used an advanced range of engineering design tools including CAD 3D, an integrated FEM calculation system and other simulation devices to achieve the best results for maximum durability. 13 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity The mast manufacturing process, right from the sourcing of raw materials through to delivery, is part of a fully controlled operation, with detailed checks in every phase of the process to ensure high quality and improved durability. Tilt cylinder braking effect When the mast is tilted backward or forward, a system of progressive reduction of the tilting speed ensures a soft stop effect, increasing the safety of the load and eliminating the risk of kick-back. However, this function stops the tilting before the maximum limit of the cylinder. If, after completing the operation, the operator wants to reach the maximum tilt, he must simply press again the tilting mini-lever, and the "soft braking effect" will be disabled allowing the achievement of the end stop of the cylinder. Shock-less landing lift (optional) The speed of the forks being lowered will automatically be reduced during the last 100mm before touching the ground with the optional shock-less landing lift. This helps minimize noise when the forks touch the ground, reduces stress on the fork carriage and mast and minimizes any possible load damage due to the forks hitting the ground at higher speeds. Load backrest Load backrests are available (all models in the B600 range) on the pricelist in 3 different heights: 1070mm - 1170mm - 1470mm [B620-635] 1170mm - 1370mm - 1470mm [B640-650] The outside width of load backrest is +60mm. 14 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity Forks Standard and narrow forks B600 forks are available in different lengths and thickness. Standard large forks can offer more stability when handling light or unstable loads. The fork s length can be selected to match the load being handled. Forks hook onto the fork carriage plate and are easy replaceable. The residual capacity of the truck is not affected by the choice of the type of fork between standard and narrow. Model Standard forks Narrow forks FEM type B620 120x35mm 100x40mm IIA B625 120x40mm 100x40mm IIA B625L 120x40mm 100x40mm IIA B630 125x45mm 100x45mm IIIA B630L 125x45mm 100x45mm IIIA B635 125x45mm not available IIIA B640 150x50mm not available IIIA B645 150x50mm not available IIIA B650 150x60mm not available IIIA Forks positioning - manual adjustment: To change the position of the forks, lift each stop lever and unlock so that the forks can be shifted left and right. This allows you to adjust the forks in the most suitable to the load. 15 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity Parking brake Mechanical parking brake The mechanical parking brake lever is positioned on the left hand side of the dashboard, ensuring the widest possible opening for getting on and off the truck, but is still within easy to reach for the operator. This provides safer operation, and minimizes the possibility of accidental release by the operator: Activating: Pull lever backward Releasing: Push release button Pull backward to overcome resistance Bring lever completely forward Automatic parking brake As an alternative to the standard configuration parking brake lever, it is possible to specify the B600 range with the Automatic Parking Brake option. In this case the activation of the brake lever is replaced by a switch on the left side of the dashboard that activates or deactivates the negative brakes of the truck. The use of negative brakes of the Automatic Parking Brake system also allows, unlike the standard machine complete forklift stop in ramp functionality. This provides perfect management of incline traction and an increase in safety of the truck and operator. With this system there is complete elimination of roll-back effect and any movement of the truck on the ramp and wheel slip traction in the restart. 16 Product guide CESAB B600

Section 3 Product details: productivity Pin-code and performance settings With the CESAB B600 range all of the truck s functions are managed through the new multifunction display, including the keyless ignition function that helps eliminate truck downtime due to lost or broken keys. Up to 40 PIN codes are available for each of the 15 profiles. PIN Code When starting the truck, the operator will need to enter a valid PIN code. This system helps improve safety by preventing the use of the forklift by unauthorized persons. The PIN code is composed of a sequence of five numbers corresponding to the six buttons on the dashboard. If the PIN is incorrect, the display will show "PASSWORD ERROR" and the operator will have to re-enter the PIN correctly. The OFF button deletes the last entered number. [The standard PIN code is: 0 0 3 2 3]. The PIN code can be changed by the authorised service technician, at the request of the customer.
