Remove the upper radiator hose. 5. Remove the fan shroud and fan. 6. Remove the OEM belt. 7. Remove the water pump pulley and water pump. Install the new water pump with extended hub that is furnished with the kit. Reinstall the original water pump pulley. Torque all bolts to specs in the Ford installation sheets. Reinstall the fan and fan shroud. 8. Reinstall the OEM belt. 9. Remove the OEM crankshaft damper using the OEM bolt. Install the new damper (39). If the OEM bolt is not long enough, use the M12 x 70 bolt (40) supplied in the kit. Bolt the adapter hub to the center of the crankshaft pulley. Remove the wiring harness/transmission cooling line holder and cut off the tab as shown in Fig. 1. Install the spider pulley assembly by threading the pulley into the adapter and placing the legs over the stud bolts. Then place the cooling line holder back over the stud bolt it was taken from. Attach the spider with two nuts and one bolt as shown. Torque the center adapter and the nuts and bolt to specs shown. Please refer to the four pages of spider mounting instructions provided. 10. Remove the alternator and lay off to the side. It will mount in a different location. 11. Remove the OEM flat idler pulley (34). Insert the 7/16 x 2 1/4 LH flange head bolt (29) through the idler bushing (9) and through the serpentine idler (11) and thread into the tensioner arm (10). Attach the tensioner to the tensioner plate (5) with the 3/8 x 2 1/2 socket head bolt (30). Attach the tensioner plate with tensioner to the engine at location C with the M10 x 75 bolt (27) and at location D with the M10 x 60 bolt (28). Reattach the OEM flat idler to its original location with the OEM bolt (35) and OEM flat washer (36). 12. Assemble the compressor mounting bracket. Mount the engine bracket (1) to the bottom of the compressor plate (2) with three 3/8 x 1 1/2 socket head bolts (22) through the top of the plate. Attach the alternator bracket (3) to the top of the compressor plate with three 3/8 x 1 1/2 socket head bolts (22) through the bottom of the plate. Do not tighten these bolts yet. Attach the gusset (4) to the back of the alternator bracket with two 3/8 x 1 socket head bolts (21) through the front of the alternator bracket and with one 3/8 x 1 1/2 socket head bolt (22) through the bottom of the compressor plate up into the gusset. Tighten all bolts. Thread the 10MJ-8MP90 adapter (16) into the bottom of the plate so it is pointed perpendicular to the driver s side as shown. Thread the hose (17) onto the adapter. 13. Place the compressor gasket on top of the plate lining up the holes. Set the compressor on top of the gasket and attach with four 7/16 x 1 1/4 socket head bolts (23) and four 7/16 lock washers (31). 14. Place the bracket with compressor onto the engine. Thread a M8 x 40 bolt (19) through the bracket at location B and into the engine. Place the idler mounting bracket (6) on the front of the engine bracket and thread a M8 x 50 bolt (18) through the bracket at location A and into the engine. Thread the other M8 x 50 bolt into the other lower hole in the idler mounting bracket. Thread the 3/8 x 3/4 socket head bolt (20) into the counter bored hole in the idler mount. Tighten these four bolts. Attach the flat idler pulley (12) to the boss on the idler mount with the 7/16 x 1 3/16 flange head bolt (26).
15. Mount the alternator on the alternator bracket with a M8 x 65 bolt (24) at Location E and a M8 x 40 bolt (19) in the other alternator mounting hole to the right. 16. Mount the compressor pulley (8) onto the hub (7) with three 3/8 x 1 socket head bolts (21). Mount the pulley/hub onto the compressor shaft using the 3/4 slotted nut supplied with the compressor. 17. Install the compressor drive belt (38) making sure pulleys are aligned and the belt runs true. 18. Attach lines to compressor per Chance instructions. 19. Replace the upper radiator hose. 20. Replace the coolant in the radiator. 21. Reconnect the battery. 22. Run the engine and check for alignment and clearance problems.
