Page 10 Application notes Page 3 Introduction The light generator is an electronic device so it will not work forever. The different components will have different factors influencing the practical lifetime. The most important factor for this system is the condition of the surrounding air (temperature and cleanliness). The data we have stated the expected lifetime of the key components at the temperatures the suppliers has performed their standardized tests and in clean environments. The light generator is designed to run at max. ambient, but the longest usable operation is achievable at lower temperatures. Although there is thermal protection built into this device; it is only a safety device and should not be used as a measurement device to test if the light generator is running at a tolerable surrounding temperature. Roblon FL1010 light generators are designed for use indoors/dry location with glass and PMMA fibre bundles. It can be use in all installations set-ups, including in closed compartments. This will reduce the expected lifetime of the product. The dust need to be removed by a fine brush, vacuum cleaning or light compressed air. This light generator is not supposed to be otherwise serviced, if it is used as recommended. If the product isn t performing as specified, use the troubleshooting guide. Page 8 Installation manual FL 1010 Page 5 Installing accessories Attachment of harness The 1-10V dimmer potentiometer can be installed following this procedure. Remove lid and wire fasternes from the driver Place dimmer in 1-10V, brown wire in + Place fasternes and lid again a) For use with Ø9 harness Remove cap from the Ø28->Ø9 adapter Mount the Ø28->Ø9 harness adaptor on the common end Tighten the screw with the Allen key b) Insert the common end, fully in the light port c) Tighten the screw on the light port d) Ensure all installation and ventilation requirements are met (see page 5 & 6) e) Connect the supply cord to the mains Network line Wire from Dimmer 1-10V Potentiometer Wire from Light Generator Surface mounting Attach to surface using two screws (not supplied) in the baseplate holes Can be used as drilling template Always unplug, before working with the driver
Page 6 Page 7 Vertical mounting This light generator should not be mounted with light port up. At high ambient temperature the operational lifetime of the internal components will be reduced. Installing adjacent light generators Recommendation: Minimum 10 cm distance between adjacent light generators, to ensure enough free cooling air. If mulitible rows. Use offset to avoid vertical rows. Minimal free distance between rows 20 cm. T max. has to be observed for all light generators. MAX. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE 45 C. Closed compartments MAX. AMBIENT TEMPERATURE 45 C. Recommendations: Enough space to allow natural heat transmission through surfaces. Surfaces may not be insulated. Minimum distance light generator to any enclosing surface 10 cm (excluded mounting surface). Air volume per light generator minimum 0.03 m³. Ventilation holes per light generator with min. 20 cm² air inlet and min. 20 cm² air outlet. Inlet and outlet ventilation holes opposite each other. Keep free from dust and polluted air. Controlling/measuring the temperature Ambient temperature: Max. 45 C. Measured 50 mm from the light engine and on a vertical plane at the same height as the center of the light engine. All temperatures to be measured when the installation has been running for at least 2 hours continuously. Ta max = 45 C
