Solution: To prevent from this problem, additional fuel hoses need to be installed to bleed air. Replace carburetor with wider upper jet hole for smoother fuel flow. PROCEDURE: 1. Loosen the 5 bolts and associated hardware that secure the cover on the right side of the rammer (Figure 2). Remove the cover. 4. Cut tie wrap holding the vinyl drain tube and release the vent tube from its holder (Figure 5). BOLTS (USE 6 MM SOCKET) BOLTS (USE 5 MM SOCKET) Figure 2. Cover Removal 2. Loosening Intake Pipe Clamp 3. Detach the intake pipe from the air cleaner elbow (Figure 4). CUT TIE WRAP TO RELEASE VINYL DRAIN TUBE Figure 5. Releasing Vent and Drain Tubes 5. 6. Remove the two nuts holding the air cleaner elbow with an 8 mm socket. Remove the air cleaner elbow (Figure 7). 9. Remove insulator gasket. Use a blade to scrape off, if gasket does not come off easily. Clean off all residue (Figure 10). 2 NUTS (USE 8 MM SOCKET) GASKET Figure 7. Air Cleaner Elbow Removal 7. Remove the plastic clip from the governor arm then remove the throttle return spring and governor rod from the governor arm (Figure 8). Figure 10. Insulator Gasket Removal 10. 12. Install new carburetor, P/N 16100Z4EF1 (Figure 13). 16. Reconnect intake pipe to air cleaner elbow and tighten clamp using 7 mm socket (Figure 16). REINSTALL GOVERNOR ROD AND THROTTLE RETURN SPRING INSTALL NEW CARBURETOR REATTACH INTAKE PIPE TO AIR CLEANER ELBOW TUCK VENT TUBE IN HOLDER Figure 13. New Carburetor Installation and Governor Rod Reinstallation 13. Reinstall governor rod and throttle return spring (Figure 13). 14. Install new air cleaner gasket, P/N 17228ZODV21 (Figure 14). Figure 16. Reconnecting Intake Pipe 17. Tuck vent tube in holder (Figure 16). 18. Tie wrap pink drain tube making sure to loop it so that it does not touch the governor spring (Figure 17). Remove filter holder carefully making sure not to lose the strainer that comes off with it. BOLT/WASHER (3 PLACES) WITH 8 MM SOCKET Figure 18. 20. Remove clamp with long nose pliers from fuel hose connected to filter holder and detach hose from filter holder (Figure 19). 22. Loosen the bolts and nuts (3 places) on the fuel tank with a 13 mm socket/ratchet (Figure 21). LOOSEN BOLTS AND NUTS (3 PLACES) CLAMP AND DETACH HOSE FROM FILTER HOLDER Figure 19. Remove O-ring from filter holder and install the O-ring on the new filter holder, P/N 366350580 that is attached to the new fuel hose assembly, P/N 366900203 (Figure 20). Filter holder that was removed will not be reused. Figure 21. Fuel Tank Bolts and Nuts 23. Replace the hardware attaching the fuel tank (Figure 22) with the new hardware that comes with the MTX60-70HFCARB kit (items 20-24 in Figure 1). 25. Connect fuel hose that was disconnected from the old filter holder to the new filter holder (Figure 23). 29. Connect fuel hose, 366900202 (long) from the fuel hose assembly to the carburetor (Figure 25). STRAINER INSTALL NEW FILTER HOLDER TO FUEL TANK CONNECT HOSE TO NEW FILTER HOLDER Figure 23. New Filter Holder Installation 26. Install the new filter holder to the fuel tank making sure that the strainer is placed back in (Figure 23). 27. Secure new filter holder with and tighten bolts with an 8 mm socket. 28. Connect fuel hose, P/N 366900200 (short) from the fuel hose assembly to the fuel cock (Figure 24).
