JAMBOREE DISTRICT PINEWOOD DERBY 2014 OFFICIAL RULES & PROCEDURES (Please note: these rules supersede all previous versions of pinewood derby rules) PARTS & SPECIFICATIONS Follow the rules that come in the box and have fun! RACE FORMAT AND PROCEDURES Race format and procedures will be posted at the race for review. CAR REGISTRATION Cars must be turned in at the Council Office between MARCH 10 and MARCH 18. Pack Derby Representatives will collect their Pack s winning cars that plan to participate in the District Pinewood Derby. Each car submitted must have a Car Traveler / Registration Form attached to the car or online version. The Pack Derby Rep completes the Pack Qualifier Form listed below and submits along with their Pack s cars. The Derby Rep will also complete the Car Traveler / Registration Form listed below for each car by filling out all information except for the number to be assigned to the car. Payment will be made at this time. Cars submitted for inspection must be race ready and graphite ready. NO CHANGES OR MODIFICATIONS ARE ALLOWED AFTER TURN-IN OR ON RACE DAY. It is recommended that each car be wrapped in tissue paper and placed in a container similar to a velveta box for protection and ease of transfer as to avoid damage. CARS FAILING QUALIFICATION / PROBLEMS FOUND When the inspection team finds something wrong with a car after the cars are turned in to Council, an Evaluation Sheet will be written to indicate the findings or description of the problem. The Pack Derby Rep and Scout/ Parent will be informed of the findings so they understand what needs to be corrected. The Scout/Parent can pick up their car from Council to make the corrections or adjustments as indicated on the Evaluation Sheet. The Scout/Parent will repair the problem and resubmit the car to the Council Office. If the correction to the car does not bring the car up to specification at the second re-inspection, there will not be another opportunity for inspection and the car will be disqualified at this point.

It is recommended to package your car in a small cardboard or stiff-like container. Turn in this copy again when you bring in the cars to the Council Activity Center. Registration fees will be $6.50 per scout for racing. The fee for a display only car will be $5.00 per car. For cars entering both the race and the display competition, the registration fee will be $11.50. Registration is due when turning in the cars.
