Riello BX Low NOx Manual Addendum Introduction To ensure compliance with commission Regulation (EU) No 813/2013, implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to Ecodesign requirements for space heaters and combination heaters, Warmflow oil fired boilers placed on the market after 26 th September 20 will have NOx emissions below 120 mg/h fuel input in terms of GCV (Gross Calorific Value). In order to meet this requirement, the RDB 2.2 and RDB 3.2 burners previously fitted have been superseded by RDB 2.2 BX and RDB 3.2 BX items. These can be identified by the prefix BX on the burner identification label. Updated technical data can be found in this document, supplemented by the Riello BX Burner Manual regarding commissioning checks and adjustments. Affected appliances Appliances affected are identifiable by a RIELLO BX BURNER label affixed to the burner cover. Oil Pump This page replaces page 83 in the Boiler Manual 3307 Issue 6. The burner is supplied for use with a one pipe system. For use on a two pipe system, it is necessary to remove the return port plug and fit a small by-pass plug as shown. Page 15

Electrode Setting This page replaces page 83 in the Boiler Manual 3307 Issue 6. When removing or replacing the nozzle, move the electrodes forward to avoid the risk of damage. The electrodes are slackened by disconnecting the high voltage cables and unscrewing the retaining bolt which secures the complete electrode stabiliser unit (shown in the image below). This can then be moved out of the way. When work is complete, ensure the electrodes are reset as shown and secured by tightening the retaining bolt. Air Damper Adjustment This page replaces page 84 in the Boiler Manual 3307 Issue 6. The air damper is set in factory. This regulation is purely indicative. Each installation however, has its own working conditions: actual nozzle output; positive or negative pressure in the combustion chamber, the need of excess air, etc. All these conditions may require a different air damper setting. Air Damper (A) 15/21 Burner Only Air Damper (A) The main air damper can be set in either of two positions. To set the positions of the damper, proceed as follows: Remove the secondary air damper (B) loosening the screws (1). Loosen the screw (2) and rotate the main air damper (A) to the required position. Retighten the screw (2) and put back the secondary air damper (B). Air Damper (B) Air Damper (B) The purpose of this damper is to perform a fine tuning of the inlet air. Tuning of this device is possible by turning the screw (3). Page 17

Combustion Head Adjustment If the heat output of the burner is to be changed from the factory default setting, then the combustion head must be repositioned in order to maintain low NOx levels. RDB 2.2 BX Adjustment Adjustments on the basis of the required output can be made by rotating the adjustment knob (1 complete revolution = 1 millimetre adjustment).
