Summary The 258BD-200C Drain Master is designed to feed chemicals into drains and grease traps to break up grease, detergent buildup and eliminate odors. The 258BT-200C Trash Master is designed to spray into trash bins and eliminate odors. All programming is done by use of a set of DIP switches that determine the various times and amount of chemical to be dispensed. Please read all instructions before proceeding with Drain Master installation. Assembly Some assembly is required before installing the unit. This involves assembling the vacuum breaker and the injector manifold to the main Drain Master unit. The following steps describe the procedure. See illustration of assembly on page 1. The inlet of the siphon breaker should be installed onto the ¼ pipe that is along the side of the drain master assembly. 2. The injection manifold assembly should be installed onto the outlet of the siphon breaker. Note: A thread sealant should be used to eliminate external leakage. Additionally, do not over tighten the metal to plastic thread joints. Survey Location Determine a location to hang the Drain Master on a wall near the drain or grease trap to be supplied with the chemical product. When using the power adapter, the location should be near an AC wall outlet. The Drain Master can be hung on the wall by use of the supplied wall bracket kit. When mounting the unit in an exterior location the unit should be protected from moisture. Electrical Hookup: Open the cover on the Drain Master and find the female power jack on the control board. Feed the male jack on the power cord through the split bushing on at the bottom of enclosure. Connect the power cord jack to the jack on control board. Connect the 9V battery to the control board and place battery in battery holder. At this point the LED on control board should be on. Plug power cord into a 120V 60Hz wall outlet. Tubing Connections Water should be connected to the inlet of valve with ¼ O.D. copper tubing. The valve is designed to operate at a maximum of 90 psi water pressure. There is a bag of metering tips that can be used to set the induction rate of chemical product. There is a chart that provides some induction rates. However, it should be noted that the actual rate may vary due to water pressure and the viscosity of chemical product. It is suggested that after the setup is complete that the induction rate is measured to assure that the setup is satisfying the application. The chemical pickup is achieved by use of the ¼ I.D. clear vinyl tubing/foot strainer assembly. The tubing is 8 feet long, if needed the tubing can be cut to a shorter length. Place the ceramic weight over the end of I-736 Pg. 2 of 10

tubing without the foot strainer. Slide the ceramic weight down the tube until it is resting against the foot strainer. The weighted end of the tubing should be dropped into the container of chemical product. The other end of tubing should be fitted over the plastic barb fitting on the side of the injector. The outlet of the injector has a ¼ plastic compression fitting assembled to it. There is 20ft of ¼ LDPE tubing that can be fitted into the ¼ plastic compression fitting. Depending on if this is a drain (258BD) or trash (258BT) installation determines what will be done to the outlet of the LDPE tubing. Drain Installation The drain installation will simply require that the end of the tubing be secured to the drain pipe or grease trap such that the drain product can be delivered to the desired location. The LDPE tubing should be secured along its route from the Drain Master to the outlet of the LDPE tubing. Trash Installation The trash installation will utilize the spray nozzle and plastic 1/8 FPT x ¼ compression fitting so that the chemical product can be sprayed on the contents of a trash container. The 1/8 FPT on the plastic compression fitting should be assembled to the 1/8 MPT on the brass spray nozzle. The LDPE tubing can be fitted to the plastic compression fitting. The spray nozzle should then be secured over the trash container. The LDPE tubing should also be secured along its route to from the Drain Master unit to the spray nozzle. In both installations the tubing can be cut to shorter length to accommodate a custom fit, or if necessary a longer pieces of tubing can be ordered from DEMA Engineering Company. Programming: Open the cover on the Drain Master. All of the DIP switches should be visible on the control board on the backside of the cover. All of these switches must be in the off position to begin programming. Time Set: Find the DIP switch that corresponds to the closest hour of the current time. There are 12 DIP switches for AM and 12 for PM. After finding the correct switch flip it to the on position. The time set LED will go out. Feed Time: Using the same switches set the hours in which the Drain Master should operate by switching the appropriate switch to the on position. Note: If the DIP switch that was set for the time set is not a desirable feed time, simply turn that switch to the off position. But not until at least one feed time has been selected. This will insure that the time set will not be lost. Dosage: There are a series of 6 DIP switches that are labeled dosage. The number labeled next to each switch indicates the number of units of time to be dispensed. A unit of time is equal to 1 minute. Example: switch 2 will dispense for 2 units of time or 2 minutes. These may be added together for higher doses. Example: Switches 5 and 6 in the on position will dispense for 11 units of time or 11 minutes. The maximum is 21 units of time or 21 minutes when all of the switches have been set to the on position. Reprogram: Flip all the DIP switches to off position. I-736 Pg. 3 of 10

Priming After installation is complete the pump and tubing will need to be primed so that chemical product will be delivered when the Drain Master is running. This is simply done by pressing and releasing the prime button on the front of the Drain Master; the pump should begin to run. The pump will run for the amount of dose that has been set. Note: At any time the Drain Master pump can be shut off by simply pushing the prime button again. Testing and adjustments Follow these steps to determine the proper induction rate: 1. Use a measurable container such as a graduated cylinder. 2. Pour an amount of the chemical product into the test container. Be sure to note the amount of chemical that is in the container while the vinyl pickup tube is in the container. 3. Select a metering tip that appears close to the desired rate based on the supplied metering tip chart. If not sure, then use a tip that is in the middle such as the red or white metering tip. 4. Press the prime button on the unit. It will run for the amount of time that has been set with the DIP switches that are identified as dose. Remember the time is 1 minute per each unit of time setting. See programming section for more information about dose setting. 5. Measure the amount of chemical that has been removed from the container after unit has run for the set time. 6. This procedure may need to be repeated to assure accuracy. 7. A rate can be established by dividing the amount of chemical inducted by the amount of time. 8. If the rate is significantly different than the target rate, it may be necessary to use either a larger are smaller metering tip to get into a range that will be desirable. If the rate looks satisfactory, the amount of chemical dispensed can be set by adjusting the time by use of the dose DIP switches. Again remember that for every time unit set the Drain Master will dispense for 1 minute. I-736 Pg. 4 of 10
