Introduction to Strautmann B. Strautmann & Söhne GmbH B.Strautmann & Sohne GMBH is a medium sized family owned machinery manufacturer based in Lower Saxony in Germany. Strautmann is now owned and run by Wolfgang Strautmann, the grandson of the founder, and his great grandson is already actively involved in the business. Since its establishment over 80 years ago, Strautmann has developed market leading expertise in the fields of agricultural transport, livestock feeding, forage harvesting and muck spreading. Its in-depth market knowledge and technical expertise is critical for all of these products as many machines are bespoke for individual countries or customers requirements. Strautmann are constantly investing in the future and the investment is not just confined to product development. The Strautmann group now incorporates a modern production plant and sales office in Poland, a sales office in Hungary and the main factory in Bad Laer, Germany. Furthermore, the company is in the middle of a significant investment programme which will see much of its production facility in Germany expanded and modernised. 4
The new administration and training centre for the company (pictured opposite) was opened in September 2016 with the majority of the space dedicated to technical support and product training for Strautmann s worldwide customer base. The factory is currently being extended to create a state of the art shot blasting and paint shop and a new Research and Development facility due for completion during 2019. 5
Forage Wagons All Strautmann forage wagons benefit from the CFS, Continuous Flow System - the system for efficient loading. The CFS unit Due to the sum of the different parts, the CFS unit ensures excellent loading performance and a low power requirement. The pick-up, CFS roller, rotor and double-cut cutting unit are optimally matched to each other. This results in an excellent cutting quality and power efficient drive, saving diesel, time and money. Pick-up: Gentle pick-up of grass and dispersal of swathe Camless pick-up Between 1.70 m and 2.25m in width 6 tine (5 on Zelon) rows placed in a V shape, disperse the grass evenly Due to the additional CFS roller, the grass flows up the pick-up at a shallow angle which increases intake speeds Optimum adaptation to ground contours Rotor and cutting unit - for optimum fodder quality and a precise cut Tine plates welded onto the rotor for uniform scissor-type cut The small distance between rotor tines and knives ensures an exact cut, with little power required Helically arranged rotor tines - even power requirement Forage is spread evenly across the entire rotor and cutting unit, meaning consistent torque without peak loads Saving power, money and time Even spread across the rotor results in approximately 10% hp saving Even spread allows more efficient filling, approx 10% extra weight per cubic meter in the trailer Even spread means knives wear equally, rather than heavy wear in the middle and light wear at the edges of the cutting unit Patented Strautmann cam type knife break-back Knife bank holds the knives firmly in the cutting position, yet swivels out the way before the rest of the blade may be damaged by a foreign object moving along the length of the blade Designed on a similar principle to a cam type cut-out clutch Less wear on the blades and consequently longer service life Unique blade metallurgy keeps edge sharper for longer Lower power requirement 6
Forage Wagons Forage wagons without the Strautmann CFS system load the majority of the forage through the centre of the rotor. Conventional pick-up Strautmann Standard CFS pick-up A Grass is delivered to the rotor without the spreading-out effect. The rotor and the cutting unit are therefore unevenly and partially loaded. Grass is dispersed by the pick-up and the accelerator A roller and fed to the rotor and cutting unit over the entire width. Extra wide 2.25m CFS pickup (Giga 02) B The extra width is fed back in towards the cutting rotor by Augers B. This keeps the outer edge of the rotor full of forage and evens out the rotor feed. Patented Strautmann knife break-back - sharp knives at any time Strautmann knife break-back system allows the knife to swivel out of the way of the foreign object. Other systems are held by means of spring counter pressure and the foreign object travels along the length of the blade dulling the edge from top to bottom. This does not happen with the Strautmann system. 7

Zero Grazing Upgrades Forage Wagon Strautmann forage wagons can be adapted for use in zero-grazing systems, the Zelon and Super Vitesse are particularly suited to this due to their smaller size and manoeuvrability. Investing in a forage wagon for zero grazing ensures a flexible system in case market conditions and farm practices change. The forage wagon can also be used for conventional silage-making work ensuring the farm can benefit from the best of both worlds. When zero grazing it is important to limit the physical damage done to grass in order to protect its nutritional quality. A front mounted, plain non-conditioner mower should be chosen to work in combination with the wagon and then most of the knives in the forage wagon s chopping should be removed so that the rotor is mostly used to feed the grass gently into the wagon, a few knives will help longer grass feed through. Strautmann forage wagons feature a Continuous Flow System (see page 6) which spreads the grass evenly across the whole width of the wagon s feed rotor, thereby ensuring minimal damage to the grass. 12

Verti-Mix Self Propelled Contract Hire Package SELF PROPELLED UNIQUE CONTRACT HIRE PACKAGE SELF PROPELLED Strautmann Self Propelled mixers wagons are available on a bespoke monthly serviced hire package which replaces the need for capital investment. The basic monthly cost of feeding is therefore set over the contract period. Low up-front capital investment Fixed monthly hire charge and term Monthly service charge 4,000 hour warranty Option to purchase at the end of the hire term The obvious saving provided by a self propelled diet feeder comes from dispensing with the need for a tractor, telehandler and trailed feeder wagon for feeding. However, the biggest savings come from reductions in fuel and labour. A 25% to 30% saving in feeding time is commonly achieved when changing to a self propelled diet feeder. This comes from the reduced shuttling backwards and forward to clamps and feed storage areas as the machine is able to collect exactly what is required in one visit. The fast mixing action of the Vario 2 auger coupled with the fact that all the silage is milled as it is collected reducing clamp wastage also speeds up the mixing process. On multi-site dairy units self propelled feeders save even more time, fuel and therefore money. But it is not all about the savings. A number of factors mean the ration produced by a self propelled has the potential to lift milk yields tonne for tonne. On farm demonstrations already show an uplift of 1 litre per cow per day. Muck Spreaders Manure/Universal MS SERIES - MS801, MS901, MS1201, MS1401 The most compact model range available from Strautmann with 2 disc spreading units and 2 horizontal discharge beaters, with capacities from 8m 3 to 12m 3. Steel body and frames allow lower tare weight for higher payloads and greater manoeuvrability. The MS1201 and MS1401 are standard with weather and wear resistant plastic floor. VS SERIES - VS1605, VS1805, VS2005 A heavy duty range suitable for large farms and contractors, with capacities from 16m 3 to 18m 3 and fitted with 2 disc spreading units and 2 horizontal discharge beaters. The spreading discs and beaters are protected via cam clutch, as well as being fitted with Hardox tines, vanes and wear plates. When fitted with the 2 disc spreading system, the PS is capable of spreading up to 24m, as well as making it possible to spread lime. The PS range has the option of ISOBUS controls and on board weighing so as to be prepared for precision farming. The body is completely welded for strength and to protect against corrosion, and the rear horizontal beaters are driven via gearbox and drive shaft instead of chains. TS SERIES - TS1601 TS SPREADER NEW FOR 2018 T S S PR E AD ER New for 2018, the TS series offers a lower specification muck spreader with two vertical discharge beaters, with spreading widths of up to 8m and a capacity of 16m 3. Designed for the UK market, the TS is suitable for farmers and smaller contractors. A narrower body with a V shaped trough coupled with the wheels being incorporated into the body of the spreader gives a higher level of manoeuvrability. Optional extensions can increase capacity. 47
