Lift up on the B pillar post cover and then pull it towards the center of the car to remove. Fig. 1 2. Using a panel removal tool gently pry up the threshold/kick panel along the bottom of the front and rear door openings to release fasteners and remove panel. Fig. 2 Fig. 1 Fig. 2 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 1 of 8
3. Find the black plastic fastener securing the driver s side kick panel and unscrew it. Fig. 3 4. Pull backwards on the kick panel to remove it. 5. Pull the cover of the foot rest to snap it loose. Fig. 4 Fig. 3 Fig. 4 6. Using a 10mm nut driver remove the nut securing the base of the foot rest. Fig. 5 7. Pull the front edge of the carpet down past the accelerator pedal. 8. Find the small drain hose coming from the HVAC housing that penetrates the floor pan near the accelerator pedal and pull it inside the vehicle. 9. Locate the battery access cover under the hood and remove according to the instructions printed on top of the panel. Fig. 6 Fig. 5 Fig. 6 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 2 of 8
10. Disengage the metal fasteners on the air filter box cover and move the cover to one side out of the way. It is not necessary to disconnect any of the ducting connected to the cover. Fig. 7 11. Remove the air filter and set aside. Pull straight up on the air filter housing and remove it from the vehicle. Fig. 8 Fig. 7 Fig. 8 12. Using a 10mm nut driver loosen and remove the nut on the positive battery accessory lug. 13. Connect the ring terminal of the power harness to the lug and retighten the nut. Fig.9 14. Route the wire toward the rubber grommet that had the HVAC drain hose coming through it next to where the steering column comes through the fire wall securing with wire ties where needed. Fig. 10 Fig. 9 Fig. 10 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 3 of 8
15. Pass the power wire through the grommet. 16. Find where the wire is coming through the fire wall on the interior of the vehicle. Pull enough wire through to allow the end to reach the area where the foot rest was mounted. While holding the power wire, reinstall the hose through the grommet so that the power wire is captured between the hose and the grommet. Fig. 11 17. Install the supplied two pin connector by inserting the terminal on the end of the power wire into the open hole in the back of the connector until it clicks and locks. Fig. 12 Fig. 11 Fig. 12 18. Depress the blue terminal retainer down in the center of the connector. Fig. 13 There are two different options for connection of the signal input wires in the wire harness. For vehicles equipped with premium audio systems proceed to step 28. 19. For vehicles not equipped with outboard eight channel audio(premium audio)amplifiers locate the left front door speaker wires in the wire harness bundle next to the hood release lever. The wire colors are gray with a yellow stripe and gray with a purple stripe. 20. Install one of the self stripping t-tap connectors on to each wire. Lay the wire in the open channel, fold the connector body over and squeeze with a pair of pliers until connector snaps shut. Fig. 14 Tip: Once these connections have been made you might want to test the wire with an inexpensive test-tone generator to verify you have the right wires. 21. Connect the subwoofer harness input wires to the t-tap connectors. The green wire (positive) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the gray wire with the yellow stripe in the vehicle. The gray wire (negative) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the gray wire with the purple stripe in the vehicle. Fig. 15 22. Find the 13mm dash bolt in the driver s side kick panel area and connect the black ground wire of the wire harness. Fig. 16 Fig. 15 Fig. 16 23. Plug the power wire connector on subwoofer harness to the connector you installed on the wires coming from the fuse block. Slide the red locking tab over to prevent the connectors from accidentally coming disconnected. 24. Route the subwoofer harness along the edge of the front and rear door openings securing with wire ties where needed. Fig. 17 25. Using a Torx T55 driver, remove the two bolts securing the bottom back seat cushion and remove the cushion from the vehicle. Fig. 18 Fig. 17 Fig. 18 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 5 of 8
26. Route the wire under the rear quarter panel cover and out through the relief near where the rear seat belt is bolted to the floor. Fig. 19 27. Continue routing the wire harness along the bottom of the car to the passenger s side and pull it up between the seat and the cargo floor. Fig. 20 Fig. 19 Fig. 20 28. For vehicles not equipped with outboard eight channel audio(premium audio)amplifiers lift the load floor and rotate the right side to allow it to be removed from the vehicle. Fig. 21 29. Pull the molded fabric cover loose from between the rear seat and the spare tire. Fig. 22 Fig. 21 Fig. 22 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 6 of 8
30. Find the green with purple strip and green with black strip wires coming out of pin location 1 and 7 respectfully on the 14pin connector. 31. Install one of the self stripping t-tap connectors on to each wire. Lay the wire in the open channel, fold the connector body over and squeeze with a pair of pliers until connector snaps shut. Fig. 1 32. Tip: Once these connections have been made you might want to test the wire with an inexpensive test-tone generator to verify you have the right wires. 33. Connect the subwoofer harness input wires to the t-tap connectors. The green wire (positive) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the green with black stripe in the vehicle. The brown wire (negative) of the harness connects to the t-tap connector on the green wire with the purple stripe in the vehicle. Fig. Fig. 23 Fig. 24 34. For vehicles with base audio secure the extra input wire to the harness in the rear of the vehicle with one of the supplied wire ties. 35. For vehicles with premium audio secure the extra input wire to the harness in the front of the vehicle with one of the supplied wire ties. Fig. 25 Fig. 26 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 7 of 8
36. Set the subwoofer in place and connect the wire harness. 37. While kneeling in the rear seat facing the rear of the vehicle pull the passenger s side seat back release lever and rotate the seat back until it is nearly vertical. While holding the seatback with one hand grab the top of the enclosure with the other hand and pull it back against the seat making sure that the hooks on the bracket insert into the anchor points on the rear of the seat back. While holding the enclosure firmly against the seat back, slowly rotate the seat back toward the rear of the vehicle as far as possible. Fig. 27 38. The installation is complete and the subwoofer enclosure is easily removable if necessary by reversing steps 36-37. Fig. 28 39. Reinstall all previously removed parts in reverse order. Torque rear seat bottom cushion bolts to 60 ft. lbs. 40. Install supplied fuse in the fuse holder under hood. A C Seat B Enclosure Floor Fig. 27 Fig. 28 77KICK14 4/3/07 Page 8 of 8
