PRESS KIT January 2018 CARFIT is the AI technology that reads vibrations to make car maintenance easier and mobility safer www.car.fit
Cars lack sensors on wearing parts There are more than one billion vehicles in circulation worldwide (1.1B+). Technologies evolve, car usage too (car sharing, peer to peer car rental, connected and autonomous car, etc). The engines are increasingly reliable and studies show that cars will last longer. 40% of the maintenance budget is already spent on replacing the wearing parts (tires, wheels, brakes, etc.). Yet the state of these parts is not or hardly monitored by sensors, even on new cars! To fill this gap, CARFIT has developed a predictive maintenance technology based on vibration analysis. The birth of CARFIT CARFIT was created in 2016 by pioneers of connected objects: Nicolas OLIVIER and Peter HAUSER. Nicolas and Peter are veterans of connected objects and wearables. By developing algorithms to detect sports physical activity (walking, running...) for connected watches and fitness wristbands, they had the idea to apply the same process to understand the vibrations of cars, in order to identify their maintenance needs and general health. Quickly, a validation by Siemens LMS - world leader in NVH science (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) - showed the relevance of the concept and validated its operation. CARFIT works today with major players in the automotive industry.
Experienced entrepreneur with multiple success stories, including an IPO on Paris Nyse- Eurolist. Nicolas worked at VDS, AT&T, and Inventel in marketing and managerial roles before cofounding, Modelabs, a licensed branded mobile phone and accessories distribution company. He has lived in Asia for more than 10 years and was previously CEO of Connectedevice specializing in wearables and IoT. Nicolas OLIVIER CEO & Founder Peter HAUSER CTO & Founder A Canadian of German origin and a quality engineer by training, Peter worked at Boeing before joining the PC peripherals division of Microsoft. Specialist in wireless technology, he became an expert in Bluetooth SIG and published Bluetooth Technology 123 (2009), before joining the world of startups and gaining expertise in lean R&D. Co-author of multiple patents, Peter is an automotive enthusiast.
Hugo DOUVILLE Chief Science Officer Holder of a master's degree in "mechanical engineering applied to acoustics and vibrations in the automotive sector" at the Université de Sherbrooke, Hugo has won several prestigious awards and prizes in Canada and Quebec. He is the author of the book "An approach using active structural acoustic control: for the reduction of structure-borne road noise." Hugo is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers and the Society of Automotive Engineers. He is internationally recognized as an expert in NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) science.
Transparency and efficiency by understanding automotive vibration CARFIT develops a technology of automotive vibration analysis. Through the use of NVH science (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, CARFIT analyzes the vibrations of a car, identifies their origin and predicts the car s maintenance needs. Via a vibration sensor - the CARFIT PULS - which simply attaches to the steering wheel, it is possible to listen to what one s car says. The CARFIT PULS communicates via Bluetooth Low Energy with smartphones via an App (ios or Android), or with a dashboard allowing the collection of data from multiple sensors for professionals. The AskMiles chatbot makes the user experience easy and userfriendly and allows dialogue with car maintenance services.
CARFIT s market CARFIT works with all players in the automotive sector : car manufacturers and equipment manufacturers car centers the new mobility services car rental companies companies with a fleet of vehicles insurance companies companies involved in autonomous cars. The CARFIT PULS is marketed by auto care partners for sale to consumers.
CARFIT is a technology company in the autotech and connected car space, located in the United States, France and Hong Kong. Portland-OR and Lille are R&D centers, while Paris provides marketing and commercial development. CARFIT has about fifteen employees and continues to recruit. CARFIT and the CEA have created a joint laboratory around predictive maintenance based on vibration analysis at Saclay near Paris. Awards and selections Since its inception in 2016, CARFIT has received numerous awards and recognitions from the automotive industry, and participates in several prestigious acceleration programs.
