2010 GTR Summer NNL 3 rd Annual Contest & Swap Meet Admission to the show was five bucks, and you could enter as many models as you liked. Again this year we served a pizza lunch to all show entrants and paid attendees that was included in the entry fee. Our NNL style contest bestows Best Of awards as mandated by popular vote, as determined by show attendees. There were special awards for Peoples Choice and for this year s theme, which was EUROCARs (any automotive subject that is produced in Europe). The complete list of winners and sponsors appears elsewhere in this newsletter. There were nearly 200 models on the tables, divided up onto eight categories. Closed Wheel Competition saw a large turnout, Commercial Vehicles and Motorcycles were very light. Past years saw a good turnout in both these classes but you never know what might show up. Hosted by: IPMS/GTR Auto Modelers Theme: This year our raffle featured over forty prizes. There were four Grand Prizes: a 1/18 die cast Corvette racer, a Testors 1/9 Scale Lincoln Mint Harley Davidson motorcycle kit, a Dremel grinding tool set and a Badger airbrush. thanks to all our raffle prize donors, a list appears elsewhere in this newsletter EUROCARs The Summer NNL was held on Sunday August 8 th 2010 from 9:30AM to 2:00PM at the Algonquin Township Building, 3702 US Highway 14, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014. There was a swap meet, too. The free trunk sale swap meet was in the spacious parking lot, vendors and show goers opened their trunks and offered lots of kits and supplies for sale. Unfortunately, unlike prior years we suffered some bad weather this time. After a forecast of clear skies and temps in the 80 s just the night before, we awoke to threatening skies. This kept the number of vendors down, those who were there opened up but by 10:00 rain, followed by strong winds, put the rain or shine condition into effect. Some people had tents or umbrellas, and eventually it did stop raining, but swap activity was really hurt by the weather. GTR Auto Modelers Newsletter NNL 2010 Special 2 of 6
