HERMES TELECOM - HERMES INDUSTRY HERMES, created for maximum safety and trouble-free service. Its modular design ensures operating safety. It can be quickly and easily installed and serviced without stopping your equipment. System with three 48 V 400 W modules + PILOTE + DISTB + DIST4 SAFETY ADVANTAGES HERMES complies with the most stringent standards, particularly standards for electric shock. A continuous control system provides status and alarm indications (see control module for details). The rectifiers provide automatic current balancing and are generally used in N+1 redundancy. The system operates in extremely severe conditions, in indoor or outdoor cabinets and at temperatures from -30 C to +65 C. All supply and battery outputs are fitted with protective devices. INSTALLATION AND SERVICING ADVANTAGES Mechanically, the unit meets the main standards : ETSI et 19, in a minimal size : 19 x 3U x 285 mm overall All the modules (rectifiers, controller and batteries) can be individually hot-plugged without altering operation. The system provides custom-configured front panel outputs. The alarm signals are also available on dry contacts on the front panel. An auxiliary battery unit may be installed, while the main batteries are being replaced.
RECTIFIER MODULE DESCRIPTION The sizes of rectifier modules are europeans standards : - Height : 3U (133 mm) - Depth : 175 mm (190 mm with handles) - Width : 10 TE (100 W) (1TE = 5,08 mm) 14 TE (400W) They are plugged into the power unit backplane. They work over a wide range of temperatures (-30 to +65 C) The rectifiers can be disconnected and reconnected while in operation. A green LED on the front panel indicates a normal working status. MAIN (INPUT) CONNECTION Connectors : DIN 41 612-C96 behind (100 W) DIN 41 612-H15 behind (400 W) Nominal voltage 230 V Maximal voltage 230 V + 20% Minimal voltage 230 V - 20% Frequency 48 to 63 Hz Starting current 0,8A max. (100 W) 3,0A max. (400 W) OPERATING IN PARALLEL With current balance within +10% OUTPUT VOLTAGE AND CURRENT Standard voltage : fixed at 2,27 V/elt cell for a 50% load The output voltage can have a value between -20% to +5% of the standard voltage, by applying a control voltage of 1 to 6 V. If the contol voltage is outside the range, the rectifier will remain automatically at the standard voltage. Current limitation 100 W : 2 to 2,3A (48V modules) 400 W : 7 to 7,5A Starting duration 2,7 sec. Efficiency > 87% (100 W) or > 90% (400 W) Factor of form > 98% WORKING MODE PROTECTION Input short-circuit, protected by two fuses : phase and neutral Input overvoltage protection > 275 V, by varistors, in common and différential mode Thermal protection Inhibition for output overvoltage (except for the 100 W) By green LED on front panel By output open collector Transistor (on the backplane connector) STANDARDS SIZE VOLTAGE CURRENT 48V 2A 48V 7A 24V* 12A 12V* 12A *Contact us for12v and 24V delivery time
CONTROL MODULE DESCRIPTION The control module plugs into the power unit backplane. It adjusts the output voltage depending on the battery compartment temperature*, which may vary over a wide range of temperatures (-20 C to +50 C). It may be disconnected and reconnected while in operation. The LEDs on the front panel indicate the status of the system. - Height : 3U (133 mm) - Depth : 175 mm (190 mm with handle) - Width : 8 TE (1TE = 5.08 mm (2")) ENABLES REMOTE ALARM SIGNALLING Mains absent Level 1 alarm (intervention needed) Level 2 alarm (intervention needed urgently) The alarm signals are accessible on dry contacts on 15-pin sub-d connectors Events are signalled by alarms as follows : Failure of one rectifier Alarm 1 Failure of more than one rectifier Alarm 2 Battery fuse failure Alarm 2 Battery connection fault Alarm 2 Any failure on an output fuse Alarm 2 A D J U S T S T H E R E C T I F I E R V O LTA G E D E P E N D I N G O N T E M P E R AT U R E LIMITS THE BATTERY CHARGE CURRENT TO THE REQUIRED LEVEL MONITORS THE BATTERY VOLTAGE DURING DISCHARGE LED INDICATORS Mains present Rectifier failure Output fuse fault Battery fuse fault or connection fault* Pilot module fault, temperature out of range, temperature sensor fault CONTROLS THE LOW VOLTAGE CUT-OFF * The control module continuously monitors the battery connection, and guarantees : the connection quality of the entire battery circuit the ability of the batteries to immediately supply power in the event of a mains power cut or rectifier failure
