This signal word is to be limited to the most extreme situations. WARNING Indicates a hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. CAUTION Indicates a hazardous situation, which, if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate injury. NOTICE Indicates information considered important, but not hazard-related (e.g., messages relating to property damage). SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS - Indicates a type of safety sign where specific safety-related instructions or procedures are described. Before Use Do not operate sprayer until this manual has been read and understood! Thoroughly read and understand all instructions before operating this sprayer. If you have questions, please contact Wylie Manufacturing, 702 E. 40th St., Lubbock, TX 79404, (888) 788-7753. You can also contact your nearest Wylie Spray Center. Place a Slow Moving Vehicle emblem on the rear of the unit prior to driving on open roads. Always wear safety goggles, chemical resistant apron and rubber gloves when handling chemicals. Read and understand the chemical manufacturer s safety guidelines on handling, mixing and application. During Use Do not allow anyone to ride on sprayer during operation. Falling can cause injury. Ensure the tractor has sufficient weights to prevent tipping when spray tank is full. Reduce speed when crossing uneven or rough terrain. Always support the sprayer on parking stands and turn off tractor engine before making adjustments or repairs. 2

Safety Issues After Use Inspect sprayer for wear or damage. Ensure that all fasteners and fittings are tight. Flush tank and pump with fresh water. Dispose of flush water using appropriate means. Carry out maintenance and/or lubrication procedures as outlined in this manual. Always Keep hands, feet and clothing away from moving parts. Wear protective clothing and gloves when working with the hydraulic system. Escaping hydraulic fluid under pressure can penetrate skin causing serious injury: Do Not use hands to check for leaks in hydraulic system, use cardboard or paper. Stop tractor engine and relieve pressure before connecting or disconnecting lines. Tighten all connections prior to starting engine or pressurizing line. If any fluid is injected into the skin, obtain medical treatment immediately to avoid gangrene. Operator s Instructions Securely fasten seat belt if tractor is equipped with a Roll Over Protection System (ROPS). When possible, avoid operating the tractor near ditches, embankments and holes. Reduce speed when turning, crossing slopes and on rough, slick or muddy surfaces. Be aware of where you are going at all times; especially at row ends, roads and around trees. Do not permit others to ride. Operate tractor smoothly no jerky turns, starts and stops. Hitch only to the drawbar and hitch points recommended by the tractor manufacturer. When tractor is idle, engage brakes and park lock securely. Tighten lug bolts before transporting and after the first five miles. Limit transport speed to 25 mph. 3

CIH Side Mount Setup Case IH Side Mount Inspection & Setup Case IH Side Mount Frame Bolt Patterns If your tractor is a Case IH Magnum large frame (see below for details) with front axle suspension, it may be equipped with hydraulic tubing that covers the side mount tank mounting holes for the Wylie 300/400 Hi- Side Side Mount Tanks. If so, it is strongly recommended to have the side mount tanks installed by an authorized Case IH dealer. Over the last several years Case IH tractors have been equipped with 3 basic bolt pattern styles which we designate as A, B, or C. The B and C style Case IH Magnum tractors can be further identified as: 1. Large frame Magnum tractors defined by the vents on top of the hood (utilizes C style side mount frames). Vents on Top > of Hood Side Mount Holes > < Hydraulic Tubes Figure A1 Hydraulic Tubing Covering Mount Holes on Large Frame Magnum Tractor with Front Axle Suspension (Right Side of Tractor) If the owner/operator desires to mount the Wylie side mount tanks on the above noted tractors, it is necessary to contact Wylie engineering department for full instruction details (806-667-3566). Figure A2 Large Frame Magnum with Vents on Top of Hood 2. Small frame Magnum tractors defined by the vents on the side of the hood (utilizes B style side mount frames). Vents on Side > of Hood Figure A3 Small Frame Magnum with Vents on Side of Hood Style C -- Magnum Series (Large Frame) Side mount frames bolt to the transmission case. There are three sets of holes. The side mount frame bolts to all three sets of holes. The 10 and 16 spacing distinguishes the Style C pattern from other bolt patterns. 6

Figure A5 Magnum Series -- Right Side Bolt Pattern Style C (large frame) Style B -- MX, MX Magnum & Magnum Series (Small Frame) Side mount frames bolt to the transmission case. The Style B bolt pattern have bolt centers of 13¼ and 8¼. The 13¼ spacing is used for the side mount frame plates. On some models the muffler shroud may have to be removed to access the bolt holes. Side Mount frame members are heavy. Take special care to use appropriate lifts and straps to handle the frame members. Failure to do so can cause bodily injury. Secure a lifting strap or chain around the right hand frame. (Some frame members have a sling loop to make lifting the pieces easier.) Tank) Side Mount Pump and Plumbing Setup Pump Placement Hydraulic drive pumps such as the Ace 204 or Ace 206 pumps can be mounted in a variety of locations. An important general guideline is that the pump should be on a level near or below the bottom of the tanks in order to maintain a flooded suction. Discharge to Implement > Saddle Tube > Discharge at Top > < Discharge to Agitators < Suction From Tanks The pump should be mounted so that the discharge port of the pump is at the top of the mounted position to allow air to rise out of the pump. < Ace Pump Figure A27 Side Mount Pump Mounted in Place of Drawbar (3 Point Implement) Discharge to > Agitators Discharge at Top > Ace Pump > < Suction From Tanks Discharge to Implement > Figure A26 Side Mount Pump Mounted on Implement Tongue Plumbing Guidelines The side mount tanks can be plumbed in a variety of ways. The frames are equipped with brackets to manage the routing of hoses and anchoring of ball valves. The tanks should be plumbed together with equal hose lengths so that the fluid level will fill or empty uniformly between the tanks. The hoses from the Tee to the tanks should be the same length even if the Tee is on one side of the tractor. A line strainer is included in the plumbing kit. The line strainer should be plumbed between the tank tee and the pump. Below are several pictures to illustrate various plumbing options. 13

Side Mount Operation Add several gallons of water to the tanks to check for leaks before adding any chemicals. Open the valves and allow water to flow to the pump. Check for any leaks. Leaks on the suction side of the pump will cause the pump to cavitate. Tighten any fittings as needed to stop leaks. Side Mount Tank Operation Open agitator valves on both tanks to maintain chemical suspension. Always wear protective clothing, i.e. apron, face shield, gloves and respirator, when handling any chemicals. Failure to do so will risk chemical exposure to your body resulting in sickness, injury or possibly death. Open Agitator > Valve Open Tank Valve > The 200, 250 and 300 Gal. tanks can be filled with water based (8.3 lb/gal) or fertilizer (11.5 lb/gal.) solutions. The 400 Gal. tanks should only be filled with water based (8.3 lb/gal) chemicals. Attach the fill hose from the nurse trailer to the fill valve. Open the valves below the tanks. Start the nurse trailer pump, then open the fill hose valve. When the tanks are full, close the fill hose valve, then turn the nurse trailer pump Off. Close the fill valve before disconnecting the quick coupler. Figure B2 Open Agitator Valves The 300/400 Gal. frames are angled to facilitate changing of the air filters on the John Deere tractors. JD Front Mount Setup Some of the Wylie Front Mount Tank Systems are equipped with an integral weight bracket. The front mount system for the John Deere 8XXXR series tractors (W420514-K) can hold up to eight tractor weights. Add the desired number of tractor weights. Secure with the circular washer and the lock bolt. Install the tank saddle on the tank frame. John Deere Front Mount Pump and Plumbing Hydraulic drive pumps such as the Ace 204 or Ace 206 pumps can be mounted in a variety of locations. An important general guideline is that the pump should be on a level near or below the bottom of the tank in order to maintain a flooded suction. The pump should be mounted so that the discharge port of the pump is at the top of the mounted position to allow air to rise out of the pump. Front Mount Options Other Configurations and Options Side Mount and Front Mount Tanks It is possible to combine side mount and front mount tanks for maximum capacity. Because of the different levels of the tanks, it is necessary to use an auxiliary pump to transfer fluid from one set of tanks to the other, i.e front mount to side mounts or side mounts to front mount. Front Mount Options An optional Auxiliary Bar is available to stabilize toolbars. The side mount and front mount systems can be used for different chemicals/fertilizer in the side tanks and front mount tank. This would require separate pumps and distribution systems. Auxiliary Bar > Figure C49 Auxiliary Bar The Auxiliary Bar bolts to the bottom or top of the front mount frame, depending on the model. < Front Mount Frame Figure C48 Front and Side Mount Tanks < Auxiliary Bar Figure C50 Auxiliary Bar Mounting 27

Front Mount Operation Add several gallons of water to the tanks to check for leaks before adding any chemicals. Open the valves and allow water to flow to the pump. Check for any leaks. Leaks on the suction side of the pump will cause the pump to cavitate. Tighten any fittings as needed to stop leaks. Front Mount Tank Operation Always wear protective clothing, i.e. apron, face shield, gloves and respirator, when handling any chemicals. Failure to do so will risk chemical exposure to your body resulting in sickness, injury or possibly death. Attach the fill hose from the nurse trailer to the E-Z Fill Valve. Open the E-Z Fill Valve. Start the nurse trailer pump, then open the fill valve. When the tanks are full, close the E-Z Fill Valve, then turn the nurse trailer pump Off. Close the fill valve, remove the fill hose and replace the quick couple cap. Figure D2 Quick Attach Frames Rated For Not More Than 2,500 lb Make sure that the main valve is open before starting the pump. Open the agitator valve to maintain chemical suspension. < Open Agitator Valve Open E-Z Fill Valve > Open Fill Valve > < Open Main Valve < Fill Hose From Nurse Trailer Figure D1 Filling Front Mount Tank Figure D3 Open Agitator Valve The Quick Attach front mount tanks should not be filled with more than 2,500 lb of material. The Quick Attach tanks are rated to be filled with water based products (8.3 lb/gal). Do not fill the tank with heavier fertilizer. The Frame Mount tanks can be filled with water based chemicals or 12 lb/gal fertilizer. 28

Maintenance Maintenance Clearing Debris From System Occasionally, it may become necessary to clear debris from the system. A primary strainer is located beneath the spray tank. Strainer Screen > Strainer O-Ring > Strainer Cap > Wear chemical resistant rubber gloves, apron and face protection when cleaning the system. Failure to do so can cause sickness or death. Read safety information provided by chemical manufacturer for proper handling procedures. Close all ball valves. Remove the supply line strainer s cap and take out wire mesh screen. Take care that the strainer O-ring stays in place on the cap. Clean and replace the screen and cap. Open the ball valve. Figure E1 Cleaning Line Strainer Preparing The Sprayer For Storage (1) Flush the tank, pump and lines with clean water.
