Fire/combustion Description The fire/combustion is a typeapproved damper intended for fire isolation or as protection against the spread of flame and fire gases in ventilation ducting. The damper is designed in accordance with the requirements of the Swedish standard VVS AMA 98, section QJC.2. The damper is for installation in fire isolation building cells constructed in accordance with fire technical classification EI60, consisting of approved partition walling or concrete constructions and in ventilation ducting prepared in accordance with the installation instructions. If the fire/combustion is used for direct air transfer and supervised by one of our control and monitoring systems, no duct termination is necessary. However, a wire mesh grille must always be fitted when the damper is not connected to the ducting. Type approval The fire/combustion has been tested by Sveriges Provnings- och Forskningsinstitut (the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute) and type-approved by SITAC (the leading Swedish construction approval agency), certificate no. 0098/02. The above-mentioned fire technical classifications apply on condition that the fire/combustion is connected to one of our control and monitoring systems, or equivalent equipment, to provide automatic functional testing at least once every 48 hours. This type of installation means that the ventilation duct can pass through fire cell separation construction areas without the need for any type of fire insulation or other additional measures to prevent the spread of flame and fire gases. In the case of smaller dampers, up to a maximum of 200 x 200 mm, installed in individual archive rooms or similar premises, the automatic functional checking system may be replaced by a manual system, with regular checks performed at least four times per year. Such checks must be logged in a register. In other respects the appropriate conditions must be maintained in accordance with the type approval. Design The fire/combustion is available with either guide or flange connections. The basic model is equipped with a factory-mounted electric damper motor with spring return and end position contacts. The damper can also be fitted with a thermal sensor. Since the damper has two inspection hatches it can be reversed and there is no need to select a particular motor side. However, on installation the damper blades must always be horizontal. The is a rectangular fire/combustion fitted with a housing and damper blades of non-combustible material and sides of hotdip galvanised sheet steel (2275) to environmental classi-fication M2. Alternatively the damper can be manufactured of stainless steel (2333) or acid-resistant steel (2343) for increased environmental requirements. Air tightness classification The fire/combustion is equipped with a sealing gasket that seals the air side to the equivalent of class 4 in accordance with the Swedish standard for air tightness, VVS AMA 98. There is also a sealing strip around the damper frame, that expands and seals if the damper is exposed to heat. Working pressure The working pressure of the damper is max. 2500 Pa, pressure class B, differential pressure with closed blades.
Sizes The fire/combustion is manufactured in a large number of standard dimensions, from 200x200 to 650x650 mm. Damper motors The basic model is supplied with a 24V or 230V electric safety motor. A 24V motor is always used in conjunction with the EKO-KE control and monitoring system and a 230V motor for EKO-MKE and EKO-SKE. Alternatively the fire/combustion can be supplied with a pneumatic low or high pressure damper motor. Note that the fire/combustion must always be used with the supplied motor for type approval to be valid. Maintenance We recommend preventive maintenance of the damper as required by the plant in which it is installed. The damper blades and interior surfaces are cleaned with a brush, vacuum cleaner or by wiping down. NOTE! Water or other liquids must not be used. Other movement requirements apply, in accordance with the type approval. Accessories EKO-ANS Connection adapter for spiral ducting.
