1. Observe the following safety policies prior to installing this kit. Position the carrier to achieve the desired work height. If necessary, support the frame on stands and place chock blocks at the tires. Turn the Master Disconnect switch to the Off or Disconnected position before welding on the Kress Carrier or servicing the electrical system on the Kress Carrier. 2. Unbolt and remove the rear steering wheel from the steering column. Use the 1-1/16 Socket to remove the large nut holding the steering wheel to the steering column located underneath the cap in the center of the steering wheel. Unbolt and remove the IQAN display screen from the rear dash panel (disconnect the display screen harness at the CH-C2 connector). To remove the display either a Torx T30 Driver or a 5/32 Allen Wrench will be used. Remove the twelve screws from the rear dash panel and carefully pull back the plastic trim panel. (Reference Figure 1.) Use caution while removing the rear dash. There are tie straps on the vent hoses that will need to be cut off to completely remove the rear dash. Figure 1 3. Unbolt and remove the rear access panel. (Reference Figure 2.) Figure 2 10/31/2011 PEF-19-03.1-001 Page 2 of 8 ENG. TM
4. Position the buddy seat to the stowed position and unbolt and remove the top access cover below the buddy seat (Reference Figure 3A). On older Kress Cabs, located on the back side of the center mounting plate there are mounting holes for additional relays (Reference Figure 3B). In most cases, the relays slots are already full, but some of them are unused. In this situation, find an unused relay to use and discard the one that come with the kit. On newer Kress Cabs, a new hole will need to be drilled to mount the new relay. Drill a 9/32 hole located approximately as shown below in Figure 3C. Install the 213954 24VDC 20AMP Relay on an open mounting hole using the supplied 5C2890 Nut and 9X2045 Screw. 5. Open the front access panel below the buddy seat to gain access to the fuse banks. Install the 149733 20 AMP Fuse Blade into position #6 on the FU3 (12 Volt) fuse block. (Reference Figure 4) Figure 4 6. Locate the 190731 Defroster Relay Harness supplied with this kit. Most of this harness will be routed under the buddy seat. However, the yellow wire for CS-C5 will route out of the rear of the cab through the access hole underneath the buddy seat. It will run along the rear access area of the cab and then re-enter the cab near the MDL through the open access area (see Figure 5). Access Area Near MDL Access Hole Near Buddy Seat Figure 5 7.
