General Notes Read through the fitting instructions before installation of the accessory. Install the accessory following the fitting instructions. Failure to do so may cause damage to the vehicle or the accessory. Ensure all recyclable discarded vehicle accessory components are packaging are recycled following local recycling regulations. It is always recommended that this accessory is fitted by a qualified automotive technician. Safely store and protect any removed vehicle components. Ensure all bare metal surfaces are protected using automotive bare metal primer and touch-up paint, or suitable automotive rust inhibitor. Remove all metal swarf and dust from all vehicle surfaces if surface is used for accessory installation. Safety Notes Check that all work practices comply with safety standards. Please wear appropriate clothing and use safety equipment. Step Always refer to the vehicle s Workshop Manual when removing vehicle components. Note down all clock and radio settings. In the engine bay, disconnect the negative battery terminal. Step On the front passenger mud guard (), remove the three bolts (). Remove the mud guard (). Step On the front lower rain shield (), remove the two bolts (), press clip () and nut (4). Step 4 Remove the scrivet () from inner splash guard. Remove bolt () from wheel liner. Step 5 Remove the nine scrivets () from the wheel liner (). Dislodge the wheel liner () and rest on tyre. Step 6 Locate and remove vehicle grommet () from behind the wheel liner. FI967 Page 05 of 5 Issue: Date: 5/08/08 08
Step 7 From inside the cabin, remove the front passenger scuff plate (). Remove the passenger side kick panel fastener () before removing the passenger side kick panel (). Step 8 Remove the glovebox (). Step 9 Remove the four screws () from the glovebox surround (). Dislodge the glovebox surround () and disconnect the glovebox light () by twisting clockwise if present. Step 0 Under the fan control unit, dislodge and remove the lower trim (). Dislodge the accessory panel () and remove all connectors from behind before removing. Remove a suitable blanking cap () from the accessory panel (). Step Cut out and adhere the Switch Template (page 5) () to the centre of the previously removed blanking cap (). Drill a Ømm pilot hole in the two marks on the Switch Template (). Drill out the top hole to Ø.5mm and the bottom hole to Ø0mm. Important Ensure the large hole on the Switch Template () is adhered centrally on the blanking cap (). Step Insert the Electric Brake Switch () into the blanking cap () from behind. Fasten the supplied Nut () locking the Electric Brake Switch () to the blanking cap (). Torque the nut () to 0.8Nm. Rotate the shaft (4) fully anti-clockwise and fit the knob (5) to the shaft (4) with 0" pointing upwards as shown. Insert the Cat 5 Cable (6) supplied in the wiring kit, into the Electric Brake Switch (). Route the Cat 5 Cable (6) through the accessory panel cavity and reassemble the accessory panel and lower trim. 6 5 4 5 FI967 Page 07 of 5 Issue: Date: 5/08/08 08
Step Continue routing the Cat 5 Cable () towards the left side of the glovebox cavity. Secure the Cat 5 Cable () behind the base of the glovebox support () following the factory harness using the supplied Cable Ties. Important Ensure the Cat 5 Cable () is secured away from any moving parts or sharp edges. Step 4 Above the passenger kick panel area, secure the Brake Controller ECU Bracket () to the two existing vehicle chassis captive nuts using the supplied M6 Bolts (), M6 Flat Washers (). Step 5 Secure the Brake Controller ECU () to the ECU bracket () using the supplied M4 Screws (), M4 Spring Washers (4) and M4 Flat Washers (5). Step 6 In the engine bay, route the grommet branch of the Electric Brake Harness () through the washer bottle reservoir cavity (). Step 7 Continue routing the Electric Brake Harness () along the wheel arch and through the grommet hole. Make sure the grommet () is seated correctly. Secure the Electric Brake Harness () using the supplied Cable Ties. Step 8 Inside the vehicle, using the table below, house the terminals () from the Electric Brake Harness into the supplied 4-Way Connector (), ensuring the terminals lock into the housing. Snap off the secondary lock () from behind the 4-Way Connector (). Fit the secondary lock () to the underside of the 4-Way Connector (). Step 9 Connect the 4-Way Black Connector () and Cat 5 Cable () to the Brake Controller ECU (). Step 0 In the engine bay, route the secondary branch of the Electric Brake Harness () from the battery down the engine bay. Secure the Electric Brake Harness () using the supplied Cable Ties. Step Continue routing the Electric Brake Harness () along the left hand side chassis rail towards the rear of the vehicle following the existing vehicle harness (). Using the supplied Cable Ties (), secure the Electric Brake Harness () to the vehicle harness every 00mm. FI967 Page 0 of 5 Issue: Date: 5/08/08 08
Step At the rear of the vehicle, disconnect the grey 8-way () connector on the trailer wiring harness. Step Patch the grey 8-way connectors () from the Brake Controller Harness () into the trailer wiring harness grey 8-way connectors (). Step 4 Locate the Blue wire that is taped back on the trailer wiring harness near the 8-way connector. Locate the Blue wire that is taped back on the Electric Brake Harness. Cut the brass ferrule off and strip the insulation back 0mm on both the Blue wires. Slide the supplied Heatshrink over the wires before crimping both wires using the supplied Butt Splice with an indent type crimpers. Solder the wires to the butt splice. Ensure that a good connection is made. 4 Keep heatshrink away from joint until after soldering is complete and cooled. Wait for the butt splice to cool, slip heatshrink over the joint and heat. Step 5 Install the positive ring terminal () from the Electric Brake Harness to the vehicle positive battery terminal. Connect the Electric Brake Harness negative ring terminal () to the vehicle earth point (). Step 6 Re-connect the negative battery terminal. Test the operation of the Tow-Pro system as per the Tow-Pro user manual. Dispose of any parts not used from the fitment. Important Secure all harnesses to the vehicle using cable ties. Refit all removed parts and secure all fasteners to the Service Manual torque specifications. Important Reprogram all radio stations and clock settings by referring to the vehicle s Owner s Manual. Please place the Fitting Instructions and Owner s Manual in the glovebox after installation is completed. E. & O.E.
