Above all the Green Hell as motorsport fans call the Nürburgring is inseparably linked with the Schnitzer racing history. Since these early beginnings, we at AC Schnitzer have systematically applied the knowledge obtained from motorsport to our product development. The Nürburgring is still the AC Schnitzer test track. Here all components from the AC Schnitzer product range must prove their performance and durability under realistic racing conditions. Only in this way can they combine suitability for everyday use on the road with the sporting performance you can expect from AC Schnitzer.
Preventative Strike Against Mediocrity. The Nürburgring known as the Green Hell for generations of motorsport enthusiasts is still used as the test track for AC Schnitzer development engineers. Even in standard form, the BMW 3-series sets above-average standards in terms of driving comfort and performance. So to refine such an already superb car was a new challenge to our engineers. But the result is even less compromising than ever before. the benefits of the series vehicle with a more sporting suspension set-up with a simultaneous increase in passive safety and active driving pleasure. Uncompromisingly sporting, innovative, dynamic. The only compromise we traditionally accept is in driving comfort. The concept of performance isn t restricted to the engine bay. We ve spent a few laps on suspension set-up: All AC Schnitzer racing suspension (adjustable) and sports suspension kits with special springs and dampers (bottom pictures) are carefully matched to the specific vehicle in extensive tests including on the Nürburgring. The antiroll bar kit for the rear axle counters any wheel tilt (right picture). What s the use of the best performance if it can t be transferred to the floor. Faster is better than hard. The torsional rigidity is perceptibly increased by the use of strut braces. Engine bay highlight: strut brace and the AC Schnitzer engine optics. This motto for suspension technology from AC Schnitzer may appear simple, but its practical implementation is complex. For each model, it s about finding the perfect combination of driving comfort and dynamics. For Coupé, Cabrio, Saloon or Touring the AC Schnitzer sport or racing suspension lowers the vehicle by approx. 25 to 30 mm. Special dampers and springs have been matched to the specific model under all conceivable driving conditions, including in conjunction with the limited slip differential (locking 0-75%). In extensive test drives on the track, the motorway and country roads, the AC Schnitzer suspension specialists find the perfect setup, with the emphasis on the ideal combination of the high comfort level of the standard vehicle and more sporting suspension characteristics from motorsport. Dynamic Design: The AC Schnitzer sports mirrors heated and electrically adjustable (for saloon and Touring before LCI). A visual and acoustic pleasure: The AC Schnitzer sports rear silencer with tailpipes in racing design. Sporting body design is always a matter of aerodynamics. Front spoiler, side skirts or rear skirt are not just aesthetic accessories, but make a decisive contribution to the optimum balance between front and rear axle. As well as this balance of lift and downforce, air flow within the vehicle is a further important aspect. Innovative wheel design combines technology and aesthetics. Nowhere is the evolutionary process of innovative wheel design clearer than in the design line by AC Schnitzer. Constant refinement of the classic fivespoke design always adds new facets to our trademark. The Classic: The AC Schnitzer alloy wheel Type II for the 3-series is available in 19 (not shown). The Innovative: With its variable spoke concept, the AC Schnitzer Type III wheel, available in sizes from 17 to 19 for the 3-series, offers a wide choice. The Avantgarde: As a new interpretation of the 5-spoke design, the AC Schnitzer Type IV alloys have already set new standards. The striking wheel silhouette with its variable chrome elements or in BiColor finish, with its polished and matt black components, in the available dimensions of 18, 19 and 20, presents totally different aesthetic phenomena. The Ultimate: AC Schnitzer Type VIII sets new standards, both technological and aesthetic, as the latest interpretation of the five-spoke design. As a 19 forged alloy, it brings a weight saving up to 33 % with the effect of a slimmer design and greatly improved cornering. Often copied, never equalled.
