KEYS Master key Sub key Wireless key Flat key The master key works in every lock. The subkey will not work in the trunk, trunk main switch and the glovebox. To protect things locked in the trunk or glovebox when you have your vehicle parked, leave the subkey with the attendant. Since the doors and trunk lid can be locked without a key, you should always carry a spare master key in case you accidentally lock your keys inside the vehicle. For information on use of the wireless remote control type key, see page 11. Key number plate Keep the key number plate in a safe place such as your wallet, not in the vehicle. If you should require replacement or additional keys for any reason, contact your Lexus dealer. You should also put a copy of the key number with your important papers. Flat key and key case 8

Insert your flat key in its key case as shown on previous page. We recommend that you always carry this with you as a spare. Do not leave it in your vehicle. NOTICE: Do not let the key case become bent as the key may fall out or become bent also. The flat key is designed for emergency use only, so do not use it regularly instead of the other master keys. The doors lock and unlock simultaneously with either front door. In the driver s door lock, turning the key once will unlock the driver s door and twice in succession will unlock all doors simultaneously. In the passenger s door lock, turning the key once will unlock all doors simultaneously. At night, to help locate the key hole, pull up and release the driver s door handle to turn on the door keyhole light. ing with inside lock button DOORS ing with key Push in the lock button to lock and unlock the door. When locked, the door cannot be opened with either the outside or inside door handle. Turn the key towards the front of the vehicle to lock and towards the back to unlock. 9

Closing the door with the lock button pushed in will also lock the door. Be careful not to lock your keys in the vehicle, The door will not lock if the key is left in the ignition switch when closing the front doors. Front passenger s side CAUTION: Before driving, make sure the doors are closed and locked, especially when small children are in the vehicle. Along with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps prevent the driver and passengers from being thrown out from the vehicle during an accident. It also helps prevent the doors from being opened unintentionally. ing with power door lock switch Driver s side To lock all the doors simultaneously, push the power door lock switch on the DOOR LOCK side. Pushing on the opposite side will unlock them. ing with rear door child-protector 10

Whenever small children are in the vehicle, lock the rear door so that it does not open from the inside. To do this, push the lever down and then close the door. ing with wireless remote control key Main switch To use the wireless remote control system, first push the main switch on the dashboard to activate the system. Then the remote control switch built into the master key can be pushed to lock or release all doors from outside the vehicle. However, if any door is not securely closed or the key is in the ignition switch, locking cannot be performed by the remote control switch. On Off The operational range of the wireless remote control is approximately one meter (three feet) from the outside handle of the driver s door. The effective range may vary with different conditions. You have 30 seconds to open a door after using the remote unlock feature. If a door is not opened by then, all doors will automatically relock. When any door is unlocked, pushing the remote control switch locks all the doors. To unlock the doors, push the switch again. Continued pushing of the remote control switch will not cause repeated locking and unlocking of the doors. To reverse the operation performed by the remote control switch, the switch must first be released, then pressed again. When pushing the remote control switch does not actuate the doors, and you have checked that the wireless remote control main switch is on and checked the battery in the master key, consult your Lexus dealer. NOTICE: In the following cases, set the main switch to the OFF position to prevent draining of the battery and theft of the vehicle: The vehicle is not used for a long period of time. The master key with the remote control switch has been lost. 11
