The Brussels site Audi has been producing the Audi A1 family exclusively in the European capital of Brussels since 2010. In 2017, around 95,284 automobiles rolled off the production line. Production of the first purely electric-drive SUV from Audi will start in the capital of Belgium this year. The plant now also has its own battery production. Production of the Audi A1* will be transferred from Belgium to Martorell, Spain, during the course of this year. With the plant in Brussels, Audi is the only car manufacturer with a production location in the heart of Europe. Close to the European Parliament, the Brussels site offers ideal conditions for the production of strategically important models of the Audi family. The success factors of Audi Brussels are the highly qualified and experienced workforce, easy access to highways and rail transport as well as good relations with the institutions based in the city. Audi Brussels is actively involved in the dialog with international, national and regional authorities. The Audi A1 is the first model in the plant s nearly 70-year history to be produced exclusively in the European capital. Before the plant was taken over by AUDI AG in 2007, it had belonged to Volkswagen AG since 1970, producing various models of the Volkswagen Group. Since belonging to AUDI AG, the Brussels facility has assumed an important role in the Audi Group and now employs nearly 3,000 people. The start of production of the Audi A1 in 2010 marked the beginning of a new era. Audi Brussels expanded its production in 2011 with the addition of the Audi A1 Sportback* and in 2014 with the Audi S1* and Audi S1 Sportback*. In 2012, Audi Brussels produced the Audi A1 quattro as a special limited-edition model. Starting this year, Audi Brussels will exclusively produce the first battery-electric SUV from the brand with the four rings for the global market. The Audi e-tron quattro concept presented at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show offered a concrete preview of the production car. It marks the debut of the first all-electric production car from the brand a sporty SUV with a range suitable for everyday use and the performance of a typical Audi. In addition to good collaboration with the trade unions, Audi also invests in education and training. For example, Audi Brussels has cooperation agreements with the partner colleges KTA Pro Technica Halle and Don Bosco Woluwe Saint-Pierre. Audi Brussels started offering factory tours in June 2010. Approximately 15,000 visitors experience production of the Audi A1 close up each year. 2/8 www.audi-mediacenter.com

Spotlight on employees Audi Brussels currently employs 2,792 people (as of December 31, 2017). 951 of these work in production-related areas while 1,841 employees work directly in production. With an average age of 44.1 years, the employees have worked an average of 19.3 years at Audi Brussels. The three working languages are French, Dutch and German. Audi Brussels lays its focus on the employees. This becomes evident at the plant s own health center. It offers a prevention program for the entire workforce: the Audi Check-Up. Experienced nurses and doctors work to maintain and improve the employees health and help to recognize any risk factors at an early stage and to counteract these. Audi Brussels is one of the few companies in Belgium that offer this service. Audi Brussels cooperates closely with the trade unions. In a letter of intent from 2007, management and the trade unions jointly defined the framework conditions for good cooperation. One important component is the working time account system used at Audi Brussels since 2010. It offers the company and its employees much more flexibility. Dual Education allows the students of the two partner schools to complete part of their training at the company. In this project, Audi Brussels cooperates with the Flemish college GO! TA Halle and the francophone college Don Bosco Woluwe Saint-Pierre. The project gives students the opportunity to gain more practical experience during their training. Another objective is to convince more young people in Belgium to choose an attractive technical apprenticeship. Production on the road to electric mobility Audi has secured important production capacities for its ongoing growth with the plant in Brussels. With the intention of further developing the Brussels plant into a key component of the Audi production network, Audi has optimized the plant s processes in accordance with the Audi Production System (APS). Major features of the APS are group work and continuous improvement processes. To improve the process chains, Audi has closely integrated the external suppliers and service providers into the production process. Short throughput times in production, low inventories and a high proportion of added value are the objectives on which Audi Brussels focuses. In addition to a body shop, assembly shop and paint shop, Audi Brussels also has a modern Analysis and Pre-Series Center. It connects Production and Technical Development to ensure the 3/8 www.audi-mediacenter.com

high quality of the Audi A1*. The Audi Brussels plant produces around 35 Audi A1* models per hour. The Brussels site also has its own battery manufacturing facility to support production of the battery-electric SUV. This makes it the key plant for electric mobility within the Audi Group. Automotive Park logistics and supplier center The Automotive Park, the state-of-the-art logistics and supplier center, is connected with the assembly shops by a bridge. It provides the infrastructure for efficient processes in the supply of materials to the Brussels plant. Every day, trucks and trains deliver 7,700 parts and components from more than 540 suppliers. Close integration of external suppliers with the plant s internal logistics processes boosts productivity on a sustained basis. Sustainability and environmental protection At Audi, environmental protection is part of the corporate strategy. This applies to technology as well as to the manufacturing process. The most stringent of environmental standards are applied at the Audi Brussels site. In 2013, the Brussels region recognized the plant as an ecodynamic company a regional environmental certification that is awarded every three years. Audi Brussels was awarded the highest rating of three stars. Since 2001, the Brussels site has also been certified according to the environmental audit of the European Commission (EMAS: Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). Audi Brussels installed a photovoltaic system with a total area of 37,000 square meters (398,264.7 sq ft) at the site. This means that Audi operates the largest photovoltaic system in Brussels, generating more than 3,000 megawatt hours of electricity and reducing CO 2 emissions by around 700 metric tons per year. In late 2016, the plant received the Business Award from the weekly magazine Trends. Audi Brussels was chosen as Belgium s most ecological company. The brand with the four rings won against strong competition. The jury stated that the key criterion for the decision was the convincing overall sustainability concept of Audi Brussels. Future production of the first electric car of the Audi brand at the Brussels plant will be CO 2-neutral. To achieve this, Audi Brussels will procure green electricity and purchase biogas certificates to make its heat-generation activities CO 2-neutral.There are also compensation projects for emissions produced in part by the company s own fleet. Independent experts have certified the CO 2-neutrality. 4/8 www.audi-mediacenter.com

Involvement in the region Audi places great importance on employee satisfaction and social responsibility at the Audi Brussels site. For example, Audi regularly organizes sporting activities for the workforce. True to the motto We live responsibility, Audi Brussels supports regional social associations with monetary donations. In 2017, Audi Brussels provided 25,000 euros of financial assistance for social projects in the greater Brussels region. 10,000 euros went to the construction of a new playground at 't Pasrel Halle, a care center for children in distress. Members of management at Audi Brussels carried out the work. This was inspired by the Audi Volunteers initiative, which is now firmly established at the Audi sites in Germany. The residence for asylum seekers in Forest received 10,000 euros for renovations. In addition to that 5,000 euros went to the credit counseling office in Forest, which used the money to provide food donations at Christmas to families living in poverty. There were also numerous donations in kind to charitable institutions and schools, including the donation of decommissioned IT equipment and office furniture that was no longer needed.
