2 VORARLBERG MUSEUM CONCRETE FLOWERS AND UNIFORM COLOURING The redeveloped old art museum in Bregenz, Austria sets new standards for the city, both in terms of urban development and architecturally. A large part of the protected historic regional council building was retained and gained two new storeys. A new five-storey building was attached to it. The new structural form was designed specifically with the principle of continued building in mind. To visually differentiate between the building sections, different façade structures and finishing textures were used, while uniform colour connects the sections to create a cohesive entity. CONCRETE FLOWERS ON THE FAÇADE OF THE NEW BUILDING The relief consists of 16,656 individual concrete flowers. At first glance, they appear to have been distributed randomly. In reality, they were placed on the façade section of the new building in a quasi-chaotic structure using a complex mathematical system. Their inspiration was findings and pieces from the regional museum's extensive collection historical containers and jars made from clay or glass. The bottoms out of various off-the-shelf PET bottles were used as templates for the flower-type motives. ANTON NACHBAUR-STURM ON TECTUS "The TECTUS hinge system by SIMONSWERK best meets our needs in terms of visual appearance and technology. Due to the high load capacity even oversized doors are viable. By using a concealed hinge system it was possible to create a seamless aesthetic for the Vorarlberg Museum project." SIMONSWERK PRODUCTS TECTUS TE 640 3D TECTUS TE 645 3D VARIANT VX 7729

4 VORARLBERG MUSEUM VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE: POLAR OPPOSITES RIGHT DOWN TO THE DETAILS TOO Just as Vorarlberg Museum connects old and new, and reveals its different construction phases through use of texture, two contrasting products were chosen for the hinge technology as well: The elegant hinge VARIANT and the completely concealed hinge system TECTUS, which can be used both on exterior and interior doors. The large interior doors (150 x 250 cm) were partially brass-plated and due to the weight of the doors were equipped with TECTUS TE 645 3D in bronze. The door elements were integrated into the wall panelling fully flush with minimum distance to the ceiling and floor. In addition to high aesthetic standards, this product by SIMONSWERK meets the needs for safety, as well as burglar, fire and sound protection properties.
VORARLBERG MUSEUM 5 INSTALLED HINGE SYSTEM: TECTUS As well as the design benefits, the installed model version TECTUS TE 640 3D for unrebated high performance heavy-duty doors also boasts technical benefits, including up to 200 kg and comfortable 3D adjustment. This allows infinite adjustment of +/- 3.0 mm laterally and vertically, and a change in compression of +/- 1.0 mm. This height adjustment prevents the door from sagging, and allows the carpenters to align the door element easily, quickly and effectively. An opening angle of 180 degrees and the maintenance-free slide bearings are just some of the technical benefits. The range is also a hit in terms of aesthetics: all TECTUS model versions have a uniform appearance with a sideways closed hinge body for a homogeneous mortise appearance. They are available in different materials, as well as attractive finishes, such as here, the TE 640 3D A8, polished brassed version. MODEL VERSION: TECTUS ENERGY The completely concealed hinge system TECTUS is also available in the model version Energy. This enables permanent energy transfer directly from the frame invisibly into the door panel. The flush room structure is in this way preserved, the door and frame geometry is in no way weakened, and the energy supply is guaranteed for the installation of comfort and security components. The cable bundling and special adapter technology allow this model to be used with all common motor-driven locks, as well as with commercially available lock and fitting versions.
6 VORARLBERG MUSEUM TECTUS THE COMPLETELY CONCEALED HINGE SYSTEM TECTUS CONCEALED, FLUSH-FITTING, FUNCTIONAL With the TECTUS hinge system any door, from high-quality interior doors to large, heavy-duty doors, can be integrated into straightlined and flush-fitting architectural structures. This well-established series has a wide range of applications, such as model versions with recessed frame facings for invisible frames, with an integrated intumescent kit or with integrated energy transfer. Its ability to carry of 40 to 300 kg, an opening angle of 180 degrees, its 3D adjustment, and maintenance-free slide bearings make TECTUS an exceptional hinge solution, both technically and aesthetically. THE FEATURES AT A GLANCE for flush-fitting architectural structures with a load capacity of 40 to 300 kg with an opening angle of 180 for unrebated and rebated, flush-mounted doors for timber, steel and aluminium frames maintenance-free slide bearings TE 240 3D TE 340 3D TE 526 3D TE 527 3D TE 540 3D TE 640 3D TE 645 3D up to 40 kg up to 80 kg made of solid stainless steel; up to 120 kg made of solid steel; up to 120 kg up to 120 kg up to 200 kg up to 300 kg TECTUS MODEL VERSIONS FOR SPECIFIC SCOPE OF APPLICATIONS TECTUS A8 TECTUS FVZ TECTUS FR TECTUS rebated TECTUS Energy for claddings up to 8 mm; from 100 to 160 kg for recessed frame facings; up to 100 kg with integrated intumescent kit; from 80 to 200 kg for rebated interior doors; up to 60 kg with integrated and permanent energy transfer; from 100 to 160 kg
