The Journey So Far. Hinkley Point C will be the first nuclear power station to be built in the UK in a generation. JAN 2006 Government policy proposes nuclear as a significant part of our future energy mix. NOV 2009 Formal consultation begins with local communities over 2 years. MAR 2013 Secretary of State approves construction of HPC. OCT 2015 EDF and CGN agree joint investment in HPC. SEPT 2017 East Office Welfare Complex Open DEC 2017 Cooling Water Pipe installation Starts 2006 2009 2012 2013 2014 2016 2017 2018 OCT 2008 Early engagement begins with local residents. DEC 2012 UK EPR reactor approved under GDA. OCT 2014 European Commission approves agreement between EDF Group and UK Government. MAR 2017 First Nuclear Safety Concrete used on-site FEB 2018 Pre-stressing gallery for Unit 1 7 SEP 2016 Final approval granted by UK Govt.

March 2017 - The First Nuclear Safety Concrete pour at Hinkley Point C
May 2017 - North West area of site with heavy haul road and material crushing operations in the foreground

July 2017 - Work continues on the jetty with girders being installed to bridge the crosshead saddles 13
The jetty when complete will allow all aggregate to be delivered by sea 14
October 2017 - Work continues on the HPC on-site accommodation campus 15
November 2017 - Progress of Unit 1 Nuclear Island pre-stressing gallery trench construction
December 2017 The sixth and final project goal of 2017 was achieved with the start of the installation of the CRF cooling water pipes.
December 2017 - Two sections of the CRF pipes are welded into couples before they are moved to the platform
January 2018- Enabling team celebrating completion and handover of the foundations for Unit 1 Nuclear Island
