1.00 Purpose and use 1.01 Manuacturer V. Guldmann A/S Graham Bells Vej 21-23A DK-8200 Aarhus N Tel. + 45 8741 3100 Fax + 45 8741 3131 1.02 Intended use and description The ree-standing room-covering rail system (herinater called rail system) together with a Guldmann ceiling hoist covers the need or liting or moving a person with disabilities. 1.03 Where to use The rail system is designed to be used indoor whenever the user needs to be lited or moved on a level surace. The rail system is a portable rail system which can be set up practically anywhere and requires no mounting on walls or ceiling. The rail system is height adjustable. 1.04 Important precautions Read the entire user manual prior to setting up and starting to use the reestanding rail system. The rail system can be set up and taken down by one person only, but the assembly would be easier with the assistance a one more person. The maximum load o 350 kg/770 lbs must not be exceeded. In case o damage to the rail system, the operation o it should be discontinued immediately. The rail system should be set up on a level surace. The rail system must not be used or any other purpose than that stated in this user manual; that is, neither as a playground or a swing device. The end stops have to be properly installed and properly tightened, and the yellow thumb screws on the top brackets have to be properly tightened beore the system must be used. 3

User manual h. 5 mm Allen key c b a d g e h b a d c e Charger 2.01 Unpacking Inspection beore unpacking I the packaging is damaged upon receipt, the components rail system should be careully checked or noticeable imperections, deects or laws. 4

I damage is suspected, the rail system should not be assembled or taken into use until the system has been approved by qualiied service sta or the Guldmann Service Team. 3.00 Setting up the system Fig. 1 Start by assembling the square rails, insert traverse trolleys (d), with ishplates acing inwards, and end stops () in both ends o the two rails (b) containing traverse trolley, with end stop bumper acing the trolley. Fig.2 Fig.3 Rails (b) must be pushed all the way into the top corner bracket (e). Traverse trolleys (d) can be temporarily kept in place by end stops (). 5 Lock the rail (b) to the top bracket module (e) with the two yellow thumb screws.

It is important to orient the vertical poles in a way that ensures access to the height adjustment socket. Fig. 5 Fig. 6 The top bracket must be lush with the mark on the vertical pole. 6 Lock the top bracket (e) to the vertical pole (c) by pressing the locking arms down until they touch the vertical pole.

Fig. 8 Fig. 9 Insert the Guldmann hoist in the traverse rail (a) ollowed by an end stop () on each side, with end stop () bumper acing the hoist trolley. The hoist can be temporarily kept in place by end stops (). 7 Insert the clamp plates rom the traverse trolleys in the traverse rail, 2 clamp plates in each end. Fit the rectangular clamp plates with the long side in the width o the rail.

Fig. 12 Fig. 13 Move traverse rail (a) up against the two tightened end stops () to adjust the travere rail to the end stops. The rail (a) must be centered in the system, adjusted with equal amount o clerance on each side to the square rail rame. Adjustment is done by eye. 8 Traverse trolleys must be parallel and centered in the side rail (b). When the adjustment is satisactory, tighten the locking nuts and put on the protective cap.

Fig. 14 Fig. 15 Tighten the end stop () against the traverse trolley (d). Move the traverse rail (a) to the opposite side against end stops () to adjust the end stops to the traverse rail. Adjust the end stop i there is any gap between trolley (d) and end stop (). Traverse rail (a) must connect with both end stops () at the same time. Fig. 16 Fig. 17 Adjust the height by inserting the enclosed 5 mm Allen key (h) in the height adjustment socket at the side o the vertical poles (c) by turning clockwise to raise or counter clockwise to lower the vertical poles. Make sure that top bracket (e) and rail module (a & b) is level. The height adjustment socket must be turned two ull rotations to height adjust 1 cm. 9 Fix the recharging dock on the vertical pole (c) just below the Guldmann logo with the enclosed Velcro.

4.00 Description o unctions 4.01 Operation The rail system is a portable system that, once installed, does not require any urther operation. 4.02 Height adjustment Set up the system (see 3.00). Insert the accompanying 5 mm Allen key or a power drill with 5 mm bit in the height adjustment socket at the side o the vertical pole. Adjust each pole to the required height and aterwards adjust the system until the top bracket and rail module are level. Note: I a power drill is used, start in low gear and do not adjust the vertical pole to maximum or minimum height. 4.03 Demounting the system Lower the system to the lowest position. Demount the rail system in the reverse order o assembling it. (see 3.00). It may be necessary to push the top bracket upwards in order to separate it rom the vertical pole module. Important: Beore taking down the rail system, the hoist must be taken out or secured by means o the end stops. 4.04 Transporting the system As a minimum, the rail system should be taken apart so that the vertical pole modules are separated rom the top brackets and rail (see 3.00). 11

5.00 Maintenance and storage 5.01 Cleaning We recommend that the product and the parts that patients and caregivers can come in contact with are cleaned with Novadan Des Wipes or Novadan Desinect O. Desinect O: A broad-spectrum disinectant system as tablets. Suitable or disinection o equipment, tools and suraces in the healthcare sector. Novadan Des Wipes: Is a disposable wipe or cleaning and disinection o all types o suraces, machines and instruments in the healthcare sector. NB: Do never clean the rail system with strong acid, base or alcohol. Never clean the rail system in an autoclave. Time beore eect: 1 min. Apart rom H1N1: 30 min Ater every touching 5.02 Storage The rail system should be stored in a room where the humidity does not exceed 70%. The rail system must not be stored in bathrooms or the like. Key to symbols on the rail system packaging: 40ºC 104ºF 70% 106 kpa -10ºC 14ºF 30% 70 kpa The rail system should be stored at: Temperatures between -10 and +40 C / 14 and 104 F A relative air humidity o between 30 and 70 % An air pressure o between 700 and 1060 hpa This side up 5.03 Maintenance Check regularly that the system is stable. 13

6.00 Troubleshooting 1. The system is not stable Check that the vertical poles have been pushed securely into the top brackets Check that the top corner brackets are tightened Check that the top corner brackets have been positioned correctly Check the top corner brackets or deects or deormities? Check that the yellow thumb screws are tightened 2. The vertical height adjustment is not working Check careully with a 5 mm Allen key that the system is not stuck in the ar end position. I the top part o the vertical pole is not moving when turning the 5 mm Allen key, stop using the system and contact the distributor or the manuacturer. 7.00 Service and lietime 7.01 Lietime The rail system, has an expected lietime o 15 years, on the condition o proper maintenance (see 5.00). Spare parts drawings can be obtained rom the manuacturer or supplier. 7.02 Saety/service inspections In accordance with international standard EN/ISO 10535 Hoist or the transer o disabled persons Requirements and test methods an inspection should be perormed on the hoist at least once a year. Guldmann recommends that regular saety/service inspection is perormed at least once a year with regard to the pattern o usage. Inspection o the rail system must be perormed by a qualiied service technician or the Guldmann Service Team. In connection with the purchase o the rail system, Guldmann or your supplier may oer a service agreement or this inspection. During the saety/service inspection a report must be prepared on what was checked and replaced. Parts that are worn or deective must be replaced with new parts rom Guldmann. Spare parts drawings and documentation can be obtained rom the manuacturer or supplier. Documentation/checklist regarding saety/service inspection can be obtained rom the manuacturer or supplier. 14

Warranty Guldmann warrants its equipment is ree rom material deects under normal use, and will perorm substantially in accordance with the speciications set orth in documentation provided with the equipment. This express warranty shall be in eect or one year rom the date o original purchase and installation (the Warranty Period ). I a valid claim is made during the Warranty Period or malunction or equipment deect, Guldmann will repair or replace the equipment at no additional cost to you. Guldmann retains sole discretion as to whether the equipment will be repaired or replaced. This warranty shall be null and void i the equipment is operated and maintained in any manner inconsistent with its intended use or the instructions provided with the product. Further, in order or the warranty to remain in eect or the ull Warranty Period, all service to the equipment must be provided by a Guldmann designated technician. Any parts or components repaired or replaced by a Guldmann designated technician will be guaranteed or the remainder o the Warranty Period. The warranty does not cover any part o the equipment which has been subject to damage or abuse by the user or others. The warranty does not cover any part o the equipment which has been altered or changed in any way by the user or others. Guldmann does not warrant that the liting device unctions will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted or error ree. The warranty set orth is in lieu o all other express and implied warranties, whether oral, written or implied, and the remedies set orth above are your sole and exclusive remedies. Only an authorized oicer o Guldmann may make modiications to this warranty, or additional warranties binding on Guldmann. Service or Repair Contact Guldmann Repair or an authorization to return any deective item during the Warranty Period. You will be provided with a return authorization number and address or returning the item or warranty service or replacement. Do not return items to Guldmann under warranty without receiving a Return Authorization Number. I mailing the item, pack it careully in a sturdy carton to prevent damage.
