Monitor Installation Figure 1. Monitor installed on right side cab window using window mount bracket. 1. If you are in very humid conditions where moisture may condense on the glass where you are mounting the bracket, run the air conditioner on a medium to warm temperature setting to fill the cab with dry air. 2. Before removing the peel-off strips from the back of the window bracket, place the window bracket with monitor on the window and carefully remember the position of the monitor. 3. Using an unused paper towel, wipe off an area of the window larger than that where the window bracket is to be mounted. 4. When the glass is visually clean, open one of the alcohol-soaked swabs that came with the window bracket, and use the swab to wipe a slightly smaller area. 5. Before the alcohol dries, use a new paper towel to wipe off the area that was just wiped with alcohol. 6. Repeat the above two steps with the second alcohol swab and another new paper towel. February 2000 9-1

Ag Leader Technology 7. Carefully remove the peel-off strips from the adhesive strips on the back of the monitor. Do not touch the adhesive surface of the strips. 8. Carefully position the window bracket in the correct position without yet touching the strips to the glass. 9. When the bracket is positioned properly, push it firmly against the glass to cause the adhesive strips to bond. NOTE: The window brackets cannot be moved once they have bonded. 10. Remove the monitor from the bracket and use your hand or fist to gently pound on the bracket to make sure that the adhesive is fully bonded and that the Dual-Lock material is properly mated. 11. Remount the monitor in the window bracket and attach the cab cable. NOTE: The adhesive strips cannot be re-used if they have pulled off of the glass. Call Ag Leader Technology (515-232-5363) if you need new strips. 9-2 February 2000

Cab, Distribution and Power Cable Installation The Cab Cable is 11-1/2 feet long and is black. It connects to the monitor and then connects to the Distribution Cable that is an 8-inch long cable that has 6 separate connectors for each sensor cable. There are two ways to route the Cab Cable outside of the cab. 1. If you can find an access door in the floor or in the console of the cab near the seat you can route the Cab Cable through this hole to the outside of the cab (usually to the underside of the cab). The Distribution Cable then will connect to the Cab Cable outside of the cab. 2. You can also use the provided 1-3/8 inch hole saw (in the cable installation kit), and drill a hole through the floor and route the Distribution Cable through the cab floor so that the large round connector is inside the cab and the 6 connectors are on the underside of the cab. Install the3/4 inch diameter black rubber grommet (in the cable installation kit) in the hole in the cab floor and then, from inside the cab, route each wire one-at-a-time through the rubber grommet to the underside of the cab. Route the wires that have the largest connectors through the grommet first. The Distribution Cable will attach to the Cab Cable inside the cab, similar to Figure 2 below. Cab Cable Distribution Cable Figure 2. Example of distribution cable routed through cab floor. February 2000 9-3

Ag Leader Technology 3. The power cable provided is 25 feet long and has ring terminals on it for connecting to the battery. The monitor must be powered by 12 volts (ideally unswitched 12 volts, 12 volts from the battery could measure 12-15 volts). Connect the red wire (with the yellow fuse holder) of the power cable to the positive terminal. Connect the black wire of the power cable to the ground terminal of the battery. Flow Sensor and Deflector Plate Installation For the flow sensor installation, you will have to cutout part of the top of the elevator to install the flow sensor. 1. Remove the existing top cover from the top of the grain elevator. You will have to cutout part of the curved metal that is above the horizontal auger that fills the grain tank, so that the flow sensor will install. 2. Use a marker and draw the outline of the cutout on the top of the clean grain elevator. Refer to Figure 3 and use a flexible ruler and measure 7 inches (17.8 cm), starting from the beginning of the curve and measure along the curve to the front side of the elevator. Make a mark on the front side of the elevator that goes from one side to the other side of the elevator (from left to right). 3. The width of the cutout should be the full width of the inside of the elevator. Make the last two marks of the cutout outline (these two marks will run parallel with the sides of the elevator). Refer to Figure 4 to see how the cutout looks when removed. 4. Use a jig saw or sabre saw and cutout the metal, following the marks that you made above. 5. Place the flow sensor on top of the elevator as shown in Figure 3. You will have to remove one of the bolts that was used to hold the original cover in place before you can place the flow sensor on the elevator head. Place the flow sensor on the top of the elevator so that the sensor is centered from one side to the other side on top of the elevator. Align the sides of the flow sensor with the sides of the top of the elevator and then make 2 marks for drilling on the top of the elevator. Make 2 marks in the center of the 2 slots of the top flange of the flow sensor. These 2 marks should be 5 inches or (12.7 cm) apart. 6. Remove the flow sensor and use the provided drill bit (11/32 inch) in the Flow Sensor Installation Kit to drill the 2 holes in the top of the elevator. 7. Take one of the 1/4 inch bars (with 2 threaded holes that are 5 inches apart) located in the flow sensor installation kit and install it on the top side of the elevator over the top (2) holes. Use (2) 5/16 inch x 1 inch button head bolts and a lockwasher and from inside the elevator screw in the (2) 5/16 inch bolts into the 1/4 inch bar as shown in Figure 3. Make sure to tighten the bolts down 9-4 February 2000

Ag Leader Technology 8. Place the flow sensor on top of the elevator as shown in Figure 3. Align the sides of the flow sensor with the sides of the top of the elevator and then make 2 marks for drilling on the front of the elevator for the (2) holes. Make 2 marks in the center of the 2 slots of the front flange of the flow sensor. These 2 marks should be 5 inches or (12.7 cm) apart. 9. Remove the flow sensor and use the provided drill bit (11/32 inch) in the Flow Sensor Installation Kit to drill the 2 holes in the front side of the elevator. 10. Take the 1/4 inch bar (with 2 threaded holes in it) located in the flow sensor installation kit and install it on the front side of the elevator. Use (2) 5/16 inch x 1 inch button head bolts and a lockwasher and from inside the elevator screw in the (2) 5/16 inch bolts into the 1/4 inch bar as shown in Figure 3. Make sure to tighten the bolts down. 11. Refer to Figure 4 if you have a TC 57 and Figure 5 if you have a TC 59, and drill two holes in the top of the elevator housing for mounting the deflector plate. Use the provided 11/32-inch drill bit to drill the holes. 12. Place the deflector into the elevator housing. Place the mounting spacer bar between the deflector and the housing. Install the mounting spacer bar so the holes in the bar are toward the front of the combine. Drill two 11/32 inch holes 1-7/16 inches 4 inches 5/8 inch Figure 4. Deflector Plate installed on TC 59 13. Push the 5/16-inch carriage bolts up through the deflector, mounting bar and through the new holes, See Figure 5. Install the flat washer, lock washer and the nylock nuts on the carriage bolt and tighten the nuts just enough to hold the curved deflector and spacer up against the top of the elevator. 14. Using a hammer and rod or board, tap on the front edge of the deflector to ensure that it is fully back against the elevator housing. Back edge of Deflector Plate against elevator housing Figure 6. Ag Leader Technology Adjustment Bolts 15. Fully tighten the nylock nuts onto the carriage bolts. 16. Rotate a paddle so it is directly above the top shaft. Figure 7. Top Shaft Adjustment Bolts 17. Using the bolts shown in Figure 7, adjust the top shaft up so the top edge of the paddle is 1/2 inch (1.5 cm) away from the top of the inside of the deflector plate. VERY IMPORTANT. You may have to disconnect the elevator paddle chain to adjust the top shaft. NOTE: It is very important that after this adjustment is made that the top shaft is never adjusted again. If it does get adjusted it will cause the weight calibration to be inaccurate and you will have to recalibrate. 18. Install the Do Not Adjust! Use Lower Adjuster! sticker on top of the elevator. 9-8 February 2000

Lower Adjuster Installation Figure 8. Flow sensor installed on grain elevator (Old Style Flow Sensor shown) The lower adjuster must be used to tighten the elevator paddle chain when it stretches. If the chain stretches more than the adjustment of the lower adjuster you will have to remove a half link from the paddle chain. 1. Remove the existing bearing from the bottom of the grain elevator. Install the drill template. Refer to the picture below. Drill Template Figure 9. Drill template installed on lower bearing of grain elevator. 2. Drill the (4) holes using the provided 13/32 inch drill bit, in the side of the elevator and use a file to square the holes according to the square holes in the drill template. Remove the 4 original bearing bolts and drill template. February 2000 9-9

Ag Leader Technology (2) Spacer Plates Figure 10. Two spacer plates installed. 3. Install 2 spacer plates (plates that have a large rectangular hole in the middle of it) on the side of the elevator. Use the (4) lower adjuster bolts to install the spacer plates. 4. Next install the plate that was used as the drill template. This plate has a 2.5-inch hole in the middle of it. Refer to Figure 11. Drill Templates installed over (2) spacer plates Figure 11. Drill template installed to block grain from falling out of hole. 9-10 February 2000

5. Finally, install the lower adjuster over the drill template. Use the bearing that was provided with the installation kit. 6. Once the lower adjuster is installed, move the adjuster to its full up and down position and check the clearance between the flighting and auger tube on the bottom auger that feeds the clean grain elevator. If the flighting hits the auger tube, you will have to trim off the outer edge of the flighting until there is enough clearance. 7. Reconnect the elevator paddle chain. You may have to add a half link to lengthen the chain enough to reconnect the chain. Use the lower adjuster to tighten the chain and then tighten down the (4) lower adjuster bolts to hold the adjuster in place. Lower Adjuster Moisture Sensor Installation Figure 12. Lower adjuster installed. Refer to the Elevator Mount Kit for installing the moisture sensor on the side of the clean grain elevator. Installation instructions for the elevator mount kit are included in the box containing the elevator mount kit. February 2000 9-11

Ag Leader Technology Grain Elevator Speed Sensor and Cable Installation An elevator speed sensor is provided. The recommended mounting location is at the top of the return grain elevator (the sensor can be installed here because the grain and return elevator run at the same speed). 1. Refer to Figure 13 and mount the provided elevator speed sensor at the top of return elevator (next to the combine s return sensor). You will have to make your own bracket. The sensor must be installed towards the outer tips of the teeth of the sprocket so that as the sprocket turns, the teeth pass by the end of the sensor. 2. Connect the elevator speed cable to the distribution cable at the cab. Connect the end that has one connector to the distribution cable (this will be the end that has a label on it). 3. Route the elevator speed cable back to the elevator speed sensor. Connect one of the tee connectors to the elevator speed sensor that was just installed. The other connector of the tee will not be connected to anything. 1/8 inch clearance Elevator Speed Sensor Figure 13. Elevator Speed Sensor installed on top of return elevator 9-12 February 2000

Header Sensor Installation You will have to decide where the header sensor can mount underneath the cab. Just make sure that the sensor is installed so that the silver pivot shaft of the header sensor points to the right side of the combine and that the cable coming from the header sensor points to the rear of the combine. Refer to the picture below for the correct orientation. Header Sensor 1/4 inch Rod Extension Spring Figure 14. Header sensor installed. February 2000 9-13
