Gauge Installation Instructions TEMPERATURE, PRESSURE AND FUEL LEVEL GAUGES VOLTMETER RUDDER POSITION INDICATOR A. Disconnect battery. B. Cut 2-3/32" hole in a suitable position in dash. Make sure rear of instrument has sufficient clearance from existing equipment and wiring. C. Wire gauge according to diagram. D. Temperature and Pressure Senders Remove blind plug or existing warning light switch from engine/gearbox (If applicable). Install sender instead. Cut 2-5/16" hole in tank. Make sure float movement will not be obstructed. Remove all metal burrs. Adjust sender length (L) and float radius (R): L= 1/2 H, R" 2/3 H. D. Due to the variety of steering systems, we do not include any linkage parts without rudder senders. However, our mounting kit provides the necessary parts for most applications. Please check with your dealer. E. For dual station Installation wire two gauges parallel to sender. E. For dual station installation use dual sending unit and wire two gauges in parallel. 0-511-011-063 rev.01-05
Engine Hour Meter Quartz Clock Power Trim Gauge A. Disconnect battery. B. Cut 2-3/32" hole in a suitable position in dash. Make sure rear of instrument has sufficient clearance from existing equipment and wiring. C. Wire gauge according to diagram. D. Positive Gauge terminal must be connected to +12 V only if engine is running (i.e. ignition switch, pressure switch) D. Positive Gauge Terminal must be connected to unswitch 12 V source. D. For electrical connection of sender unit refer to power trim manufacturer instruction (owners manual) If you should not get proper readings from Siemens VDO Gauge: DO NOT attempt to open, as this voids any warranty! Check wiring, especially for proper ground. All gauges are floating grounds: you have to run a separate ground connection from terminal "-" to ground. If sender is standard ground, make sure the engine/gearbox has common ground, i.e. is grounded to same battery negative as gauges. In case of sender being floating ground, ground terminal has to be connected to gauge negative. Not for Voltmeter, Engine Hour Meter and Quartz Clocks: Pull sender lead from sending unit. Pointer must now move fully to one side of scale. Then, ground sender lead. Pointer must now peg to opposite side of scale. If both occurs, your gauge and wiring is basically o.k., the problem will be a defective or improperly grounded sending unit. Siemens VDO Instruments are repairable. CAUTION: Read these instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Do not deviate from assembly or wiring instructions. Always disconnect battery ground before making any electrical connections. General Information: Your VDO mechanical dual air pressure gauge comes with a 24volt bulb standard; for 12 volt operation, order VDO bulb number 600 802. These instruments require a tubing kit to complete installation. MAKE SURE THAT THE TUBING USED IS RATED FOR 150PSI OR GREATER. Use ¼" outside diameter tubing. You will also need a ferrule and a sealing nut, which are readily available from your auto parts dealer. Gauge Installation: 1. Select the location where you will mount the gauge, and mark a center point for a hole. 2. Cut a 3¹ ₈" (80 mm) diameter hole for the pressure gauge. Place the instrument into the hole. If the gauge is too snug, use a file to slightly enlarge the opening until the gauge fits properly. See Diagram A. 4. Slip a mounting bracket over each mounting bolt on the back of the gauge. Screw on the accompanying nuts. Tighten the nuts until the gauge can no longer be rotated by hand. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN! Parts List CAUTION!!! Diagram A Gauge Dimensions Item Description Quantity 1. Gauge Hookup and Lamp Wiring: in Diagram B. 1. Route the tubing from the gauge to the air line. DO NOT CRIMP the tubing closed during routing. A rubber grommet is recommended around each tube where it passes through the firewall. 2. Attach one end of each tube to the gauge using a ⁷ ₁₆"-24UNS-2A adapter. You must also use a ferrule and sealing nut, as shown DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE SEAL- ING NUTS OR YOU WILL DAMAGE THE TUBING! 3. Attach the other end of each tube to its corresponding air line using appropriate tees and fittings. A white dot indicates the "primary" air line; a red dot, the "secondary." 4. Run a wire from the gauge lamp socket to the lighting circuit (a +24 volt source, usually after the light switch fuse). For +12v operation, use 12v bulb (VDO #600 802). If the gauge housing is not grounded, run a ground wire to one of the mounting studs. See Diagram B. At this point, installation is complete. CAUTION: Make sure the tubes are absolutely free from moving and/or hot engine components, and that it is totally free of kinks. Start the engine and turn on the lights to make sure the gauge illumination functions properly. If it doesn't, recheck your connections and your wiring. Check all tubing connections for leaks. <YWXd CgYdSX White Pointer = Primary Air Red Pointer = Secondary Air 7b_e^Td_ ]_e^dy^wcdet =_e^dy^wcdet <YWXd C_S[Ud "$fre\r V_b!"fecU `^& ( ") @buccebu 7QeWU 6ecU 2_h ⁷ ₁₆816$EXVKLQJ 2QddUbi 7b_e^T DeRY^W]ecdRU bqdutv_b!% @C9 _bwbuqdub \U^WdXfQbYUc CUQ\Y^W >ed 6Ubbe\U Diagram B Gauge hookup and lamp wiring information
