Anatomy of an Evidence Locker Materials: Exterior components are constructed of 16 gauge cold rolled steel.the base is 14 gauge and all inner skins are 18 gauge. Only the highest quality fasteners and hardware are utilized. Welding: Our certified welders use resistance or MIG welding where appropriate. All exposed corners are welded solid and smoothed prior to finishing. The base is fully welded to the cabinet creating a solid structure. Cabinet: DSM evidence lockers are modular and are shipped as a fully assembled unit. Modules measure 82 high x 36 wide x 24 deep. For ease of installation, all lockers have pre-drilled mounting holes and floor levellers. A wide range of standard locker configurations gives the flexibility needed when designing an efficient, secure evidence handling area. Hinges: Heavy-duty, continuous type hinges are welded to each door, with never more than 3 inches between welds. One end of every hinge is welded to prevent pin removal. Doors: All locker doors are built with 16 gauge (1/16" nom. thickness) cold-rolled steel. All corners are welded and ground smooth prior to painting. 18 gauge interior door skins add even more rigidity, while concealing the mechanical elements of the door. The strength of larger doors is further enhanced by the addition of a spot-welded reinforcement along the length. Front door handles are recessed to avoid injuries and catching of clothing. Self-closing devices prevent open doors from being a hazard in corridors and hallways. Doors have multiple locking points and can only be removed in the open position. Rear doors are full cabinet size, providing access to multiple compartments. Neoprene silencers, riveted number tags and instruction tags on doors are just a few of the finer details that set DSM apart from the crowd. Model #07 Finish: All surfaces are smoothed and polished, then phosphate treated, prior to the application of a high quality powder coat finish.
