ADSTEFAN Ver.2016 Tutorial [No.7] Die Temperature Analysis Parting Agent Spray (Die Casting method)
Preface Contents The explanation about the operation of the die temperature analysis for High Pressure Die Casting Method by considering the effect by parting agent spray. Prepare the data for execution of the tutorial in advance. Project data : Diecast(die_temp).apro In3d data : Diecast(die_temp).in3d (*)After operation of tutorial No.6, the project is created. 1

1-3 Open the Project File 1 By clicking the button, the window Open Project File will open. 2Select Diecast(die_temp).apo as [project file name]. 3By clicking the button [open], open the project. 5
1-4 Saving the Project File as Other Name 1Click the menu [File]-[Save As]. The window for saving the project opens. 2Set the folder for saving new project. 3Input the project name as Diecast(die_temp_spray).apo. 4By clicking the button [OK], the project is saved. 6
1-5 Setting Analysis Condition Heat Transfer Coefficient(W/m 2 K) In die temperature analysis, the two following method is considered as the reflection the effect by parting agent spray. In the tutorial, we explain the method 2. 1Setting the same heat resistance on the sprayed surfaces in each stage cycle. 2Setting the non-uniform heat resistance automatically on the sprayed surfaces by adopting the parting agent spray s module in ADSTEFAN. The function is calculating each area s temperature by setting heat resistance in the sprayed surface, after introducing the sprayed spot from the sprayed nozzle. Spraying spot 5000 The distribution of heat transfer coefficient around the center of spraying area The center of spraying 4000 Non-uniform The nozzle of spraying 3000 2000 Uniform 1000-80 -60-40 -20 0 20 40 60 80 The distance from the center(mm) 7
1-6 Setting Analysis Condition(Stage Cycle)(1) 1Click the menu [Stage Setting] in the [Die Temperature]. 2Click [Stage 4]. Each heat resistance is set as the stage cycle shown in the following figure. As the heat resistance between parting agent spray and in the stage 4 th, the value 20 is set. 1.Curing 2.Die Open 3. Taking Out Casting 4.Spray 5.Die Close 8
1-7 Setting Analysis Condition(Stage Cycle)(2) 1In Stage 4, change the heat resistance between materials as follows. 2.mold / 3.casting 2.mold / 7.mold 3.casting / 7.mold 20 2000 (cm 2 s/cal) The above value is applied in the unsprayed area. 9
1-8 Setting Analysis Condition(Stage Cycle)(3) 2After select the checkbox [Parting agent spray], click the button [Setting]. By doing this, The setting window about the spray will be displayed. 10
1-9 Setting Analysis Condition(Spray condition)(1) The setting window in the spray condition Add the spray nozzle. Setting the stage No. in spraying. Setting the detailed condition in nozzle. As for spraying condition, set condition about each spray. Spray nozzle1 Spray nozzle2 In the tutorial, set the spray nozzle that moves with injecting to both sides, according to the following figure. Setting the moving route of the nozzle. Displaying the list about setting nozzle. Setting the mold for spraying. 11
1-10 Setting Analysis Condition(Spray condition)(2) 1Click the button [+]. 2Input [Stage No.] as 4. Setting the following condition. Nozzle1 3 Set each item as follows. [Injection Direction]:-X [Start Time(sec)]:5 Set as the timing that begins to spray, after the stage 4 begins. [Spray Distance(mm)]:200 In ADSTEFAN, the unevenness of surface cannot be considered. Please set the distance from nozzle to the surface. [Incidence Angle(deg)]:0 [Air Pressure(MPa)]:0.4 [Fluid Pressure(MPa)]:0.15 [Spray Temp.(deg C)]:25 4Select the checkbox [7.mold]. 5Click the button [Setting], by this the setting window of route about the nozzle. 12
1-11 Setting Analysis Condition(Spray condition)(3) 1Click the menu [Add]. 2Click the area as the starting point. Setting item as follows. Nozzle 1 Starting point Required Time : 10sec Ending point 4Click [Required Time] as 10. As for ON/OFF in moving spray, the setting is not changed in the tutorial. 3Click the area as the ending point. 5 Click the button [OK]. 13
1-12 Setting Analysis Condition(Spray condition)(4) 1Click the button [+]. 2Select [Reading Data from Other Nozzle] as Nozzle1. By this, the setting contents about Nozzle1 are reflected to Nozzle2. Setting item as follows. Nozzle2 3 Change [Injection Direction] as +X. Setting item as follows by Nozzle1 and Nozzle2. 4After deselecting the checkbox 7.mold, select the checkbox 2.mold. After saving these setting data, execute analysis from the window of Executing Analysis. 14
