82-90XL Pinspotter Safety Guard Kit Installation Instructions Following the installation of these kits, place these instructions in your pinspotter manual for future part number reference. These instructions are applicable to the field installation of the following kits in remanufactured 82-90XL pinspotters: 090-004-330 82-90 Reworked CE Kit 088-001-182 90XL Chassis and E-Stop Kit 088-001-151 Even End Guard Set 088-001-152 Odd End Guard Set 088-001-172 R.H. End Guard Kit 088-001-174 L.H. End Guard Kit 088-001-165 CE Ladder/Step Kit I. 82-90 Reworked CE Kit This kit contains materials for one pair of pinspotters and must be installed before the CE Ladder/Step kit can be installed. The kit consists of handrails, reinforced walk boards, tread plates, center guards, warning labels, and mounting hardware. CAUTION: Turn OFF the pinspotters while installing this kit. Installation 1. Remove the four existing walk boards and associated handrails from the pinspotter pair. 2. Install the new walk boards and reinforcing plates (the plates go under the walk boards). Secure them with 1/4-20 x 2-inch screws and flat washers. Do not install the screws in the Inside (short) edges of the walk boards at this time. 3. Mount a center bin handrail (088-001-142) to the outside of the upturned portion of a bin step plate (088-001-141) with 3/8-16 x 1-3/4 screws, washers, and lock nuts. Repeat for the other center bin handrail. Figure 1 shows the assembled handrail. Figure 1, Center Bin Handrail and Step Plate Assembly 400-082-001 1 Rev. Date 10/03

4. Install the bin step plate assemblies with the handrails facing the bins so that the step plates span the openings between each pinspotter s left and right walk boards (see Figure 2). Secure with 1/4-20 x 2-inch screws and flat washers. Figure 2, Center Bin Handrail and Step Plate Assembly, Installed 5. Assemble a bin handrail assembly by securing a bin handrail (088-001-138) to the outside of a bin handrail mount (088-001-139) using four 3/8-16 x 1-3/4 screws, flat washers, and lock nuts as shown in Figure 3. Repeat for the other three bin handrail assemblies. 6. Mount the bin handrail assemblies along the inside (angled) edges of the walk boards using 1/4-20 x 2-inch screws, flat washers, and lock nuts (see Figure 4). Mount a front handrail (088-001-157) to the front of the crossbeam weldment with four 3/8-16 x 2-inch screws, flat washers (8), and lock nuts in the weldment s preexisting holes (see Figure 5). Front Handrail Figure 5, Front Handrail, Installed 8. Remove the existing even and odd machines tread plates (for example machines #2 & #3) from the top of the common side kickback plates. 9. Install the even machine s new tread plate (088-001-120) and secure it with 5/16-18 x 1-1/4 bolts and flat washers. 10. Install the odd machine s new tread plate (088-001-121) in the same manner as the even machine s tread plate. 11. Remove the pin seating rod assemblies and curtain latch mechanisms from the old tread plates and install them on the new ones. Pin Wheel Center Guard 12. Disconnect the distributor s lateral drive spring and safety link spring from the bolt that passes through the pinspotter s channel support weldment. 13. Remove the 3/8-16 x 4-1/2 inch bolt from the channel support weldment and install a center guard mount (070-007-019) over the portion of the weldment that the bolt had passed through, and reinstall the bolt and associated components in their previous locations (see Figure 6). 14. 15. Install the pinwheel center guard in the opening in the pin wheel guard by hooking the center guard s two tabs (located along the lower part of the guard) over the pin wheel guard (see Figure 7), and then hook the center guard s hanger over the newly installed center guard mount (Figure 6). Secure the center guard to the guard mount with 1/4-20 x 1/2 hex screws (809-849-085) and washers (948-753-101). HANGER TAB (one on each side) Figure 7 16. Repeat Steps 12 through 15 for the other pinspotter s center guard. Ball Return Rear Guard 17. Secure the guard mount bracket assembly (088-001-111) to the back of the pinspotters kickback plates where the light ball sensor s (LBS) upper mounting screws are located. You will need to replace the existing screws with the longer ones provided. Be careful not to change the LBS alignment in the process. 18. Secure the screen assembly to the pinspotters by hooking the screen s upper edge over the chassis mounting bracket and then securing the screen to the guard mount bracket with two 1/4-20 x 1/2-inch screws and flat washers. Ball Lift Upper Guard Installation Remanufactured 82-90XL Pinspotters are supplied with upper guards (Figure 8) for the ball lift, and may already be in place as part of the original pinspotter installation. 19. Install the Front Guard Assembly Brackets (070-010-238) to the existing cable duct support brackets as shown in Figure 9, using the existing hardware. Install the Ball Lift Guard and secure it to the Guard Assembly Brackets with 1/4-20 x 1/2 hex screws and washers through the holes in the top of the guard. 400-082-001 5 Rev. Date 10/03

II. Emergency Stop Kit The Emergency Stop Kit (E-Stop Kit, 088-001-168) is included with the 90XL Chassis and consists of an E-Stop Controller, six E-Stop pushbutton assemblies, wiring, connectors, and mounting hardware. The E-Stop Controller is installed on top of the chassis at the factory and requires no further installation. Each of the six E-Stop pushbutton assemblies must be mounted to the pinspotter pair in the location described in the following pages. Each pushbutton assembly contains a two-pole, locking stop button. Once actuated, the stop button must be rotated to release it before the reset button(s) on the E-Stop Controller can be pressed to restart the pinspotter(s). The two-pole stop button can be wired so that its actuation stops one or both pinspotters of the pair. The attached wiring diagram (Figure 23) shows the recommended method of wiring the stop buttons. Tools Required: Electric Drill Flat Blade Screwdriver 1/8-inch Drill Bit 1/4-inch Nut Driver Wire Strippers/Cutters Center Punch or Marker A. Install the two rear E-Stop Button Assemblies (088-001-158) on the Pin Wheel Guards of both pinspotters in the pair as follows: 1. Remove the lid along with the E-Stop Button from one E-stop Button Assembly. 2. Locate the base of the E-Stop enclosure on the pinspotter pinwheel guard in the position shown in Figure 10. Figure 10 3. Mark the four enclosure mounting hole locations on the Pin Wheel guard. Drill four 1/8-inch holes in Pin Wheel guard at the transferred center marks. 4. Mount the E-stop Enclosure to the pinwheel guard with the four included self-tapping screws (826-832-090). 5. Reassemble the E-stop enclosure assembly. 6. Repeat Steps A (1-5) for the other pinspotter of the pair. 400-082-001 6 Rev. Date 10/03

B. Install two Pit E-Stop Button Assemblies (088-001-158) on the Bin Handrails of the Odd and Even Pinspotters as follows: 1. Remove the lid along with the E-Stop Button from one E-stop Button Assembly. 2. Mount two conduit hangers (088-001-180) to the back of an E-Stop Enclosure using two 1/4-20 x 1/2 hex screws (809-849-085), and lock nuts (844-049-002). 3. Reassemble the E-Stop Button Assembly. 4. Mount the E-Stop Enclosure to the Bin Handrail closest to the ball return and tighten securely. See Figures 11 and 12. Figure 11 Figure 12 5. Repeat Steps B (1-4) for the other pinspotter of the pair. C. Install a Box beam E-Stop Button Assembly (088-001-158) to the box beam of an Odd or Even Pinspotter as follows: 1. Remove the Lid along with the E-Stop Button from an E-stop Button Assembly. 400-082-001 7 Rev. Date 10/03

2. Locate the base of the E-Stop enclosure on the pinspotter s box beam where shown in Figure 13 (between Sweep Motor and Table Solenoid). Figure 13 3. With a center punch or marker, transfer the four enclosure mounting hole locations to the box beam. 4. Remove the box beam cover. Make sure when the drill bit passes through the box beam that the drill bit does not contact any wires inside the box beam and cause damage to them! 5. Drill four 1/8-inch holes in the box beam at the transferred center marks 6. Mount the E-stop Enclosure to the box beam with four included self-tapping screws (826-832-090). 7. Reassemble the E-Stop Button Assembly. See Figure 14. Figure 14 8. Reinstall the box beam cover. 9. Repeat Steps C (1-8) for the other pinspotter of the pair. 400-082-001 8 Rev. Date 10/03

D. Wire the E-Stop Buttons as shown in Figure 23, E-Stop Wiring Diagram. 1. Plug the two E-Stop Wire Harnesses into the Odd E-Stop Loop and Even E-Stop Loop connectors located on the back of the E-Stop Controller. 2. Using the E-Stop Wiring Diagram, wire the six E-Stop buttons as shown. The E-Stop wire harnesses are to be cut and terminated to connect E-Stop buttons in each loop. Wires should be routed through the machine cable ducts and Box beam whenever possible. 3. Use wire ties to bundle harness wires together and to secure them to the machine. Make sure the E-Stop wire harness is tied out of way of any moving parts or walkways. E. Test the functionality of the E-Stop circuit 1. Place all E-Stop Buttons in the OUT position. 2. Plug the 220VAC power cables into both power receptacles on top of the E-Stop controller/chassis. 3. Press the ODD RESET and EVEN RESET buttons on the E-Stop controller. If the circuit is wired correctly and power is being supplied to machine, then both green LED s should be illuminated on the E-Stop controller. 4. If both green LED s are not lit, then verify that power is being supplied to machine. If power is present, then verify the wiring of the E-Stop buttons against the E-Stop Wiring Diagram. 5. After attaining both green LED s, continue to Step 6 to verify E-Stop button operation. 6. Test the functionality of each E-Stop Button as follows: a. Depress only one of the six E-Stop buttons. b. Pull/twist that E-Stop Button back out. c. Verify that appropriate red LED(s) is (are) illuminated on the E-Stop Controller per Table 1 below. Table 1 - This Table is accurate only if the E-Stop buttons are wired in accordance with Figure 23. d. Press the reset button(s) on the E-Stop controller to clear the emergency stop condition(s). e. Repeat Steps 6 (a-d) for each one of the six E-Stop buttons. 7. If any of the E-Stop buttons fails to function per Table 1, then verify the wiring of the E-Stop buttons against the E-Stop Wiring Diagram. 8. After successfully testing each of the six E-Stop buttons, the E-Stop system is ready for pinspotter operation. 400-082-001 10 Rev. Date 10/03

Remanufactured 82-90XL Pinspotter Safety Guard Kit Installation Manual III. Safety Labels The Safety Label kit (088-001-156) is included in the 82-90XL CE Kit. Each kit contains labels for one pair of pinspotters. The Safety Label kit contains the following labels in the quantities indicated and should be installed as shown in Figures 15 through 19. 090-004-301, Large Pin Wheel Guard Safety Label, 9.75 x8.0, Quantity 2 088-001-153, Rear Ball Lift Guard Safety Label, 12.5 x2.25, Quantity 1 088-001-155, Pin Wheel Center Guard Safety Label, 12.5 x2.25, Quantity 2 088-001-178, 220-Volt Electrical Safety Label, Quantity 4 090-004-302, Pin Deck Safety Label, 17.0 x1.375, Quantity 4 090-004-304, Box Beam Safety Label, 12.5 x2.25, Quantity 2 Before installing labels, wipe down the surfaces where the labels will be affixed to remove any dirt and oil residue so the labels will adhere properly. A. Install labels 090-004-301, 088-001-153, & 088-001-155 as follows: 1 Remove label backing and apply (2 places) the Large Pin Wheel Guard Safety Label (090004-301) to the pinwheel guard as shown in Figure 15. 2 Apply the Rear Ball Lift Guard Safety Label (088-001-153) to the Screen Guard (1 place) as shown in Figure 15. 3 Apply the Pin Wheel Center Guard Safety Label (088-001-155) to the Pin Wheel Center Guard (2 places) as shown in Figure 15. 400-082-001 11 Rev. Install the Electrical Safety Labels (088-001-178) as follows: 1 Remove label backing and apply the 220-Volt Electrical Safety Label (088-001-178) to both Cable Duct Covers and both box beam covers (4 places in all) as shown in Figure 16. 1 Figure 16 400-082-001 12 Rev. C. Install the 090-004-302 and 090-004-304 Labels as follows: 1. Remove label backing and apply a Pin Deck Safety Label (090-004-302) to the Torque Tube of each pinspotter of the pair (2 places in all). See Figure 17. Figure 17 2. Remove the label backing and apply a Box Beam Safety Label (090-004-304) to the front of the box beam on each pinspotter of the pair. On both machines, the label should be located to the right of the sweep motor. See Figure 18. Figure 18 400-082-001 13 Rev. Date 10/03

3. Apply a Pin Deck Safety Label (090-004-302) to the backside of the yokes on each pinspotter of the. See Figure 19. Figure 19 IV. CE Ladder/Step Kit The Ladder/Step Kit consists of a Ladder Assembly, and a Step Kit. The ladder mounts to the floor and to the pinspotter, and the steps mount to the pinspotters between pinspotter pairs (for example, between pinspotters 2 and 3, 4 and 5, etc.). CAUTION: Turn OFF the pinspotters while installing this kit. 1. Install the Step Assembly (088-001-119). Bolt the lower end to the tread plates using 1/4-20 x 1-inch screws, washers, and lock nuts. Bolt the upper end of the step assembly to the walk boards using 1/4-20 x 2-inch screws, washers, and lock nuts. 2. Assemble the ladder, coupling, handrails, and ladder support braces (see Figure 20). 3. Position the ladder assembly in place and temporarily bolt the ends of the handrails to the underside of the walk boards using the screws that mount the handrails to the walk boards. 4. Adjust the ladder for correct height and temporarily pin the ladder to the ladder support braces (090-006-177). 5. Position the ladder and rails so that they are plumb and level, and mark two places at each support brace for mounting the ladder to the floor using the support braces as templates. 6. Remove the ladder assembly and drill four 5/8-inch holes in the concrete floor at the marked locations using a masonry bit. 7. Insert a 3/8 x 1-3/4 lag shield (730-069-640), hinged end up, in each of the holes in the floor. If necessary, use a mallet (a hammer will damage them) to set them flush with or slightly below the surface of the floor. 8. Reinstall the ladder assembly and bolt the assembly to the underside of the walk boards and to the floor using 3/8 x 2-inch lag screws (810-564-420). 9. Repeat Steps 1 through 8 for the remaining ladder assemblies. V. End Guard Kits It is necessary to guard against entry at each end of a bank of pinspotters and wherever there is a break in a continuous line of pinspotters that would allow someone to gain access to the pinspotters. There are separate kits for even numbered and odd numbered pinspotters. Each kit contains solid guard panels, screen guards, handrails, and mounting hardware. Installation can be done anytime after the installation of the 82-90XL CE Guard Kit. Handrails 1. Assemble an end handrail assembly by securing a handrail (088-001-145) to an end handrail mount (088-001-144) with four 3/8-16 x 1-3/4 screws, washers (8), and lock nuts. 2. Install the handrail on the outside (long) edge of the end pinspotter s walk board using the walk board s existing mounting hardware. Screen End Guards 3. Remove the tread plate from the outside pinspotter s end kickback plate. 4. Remove the pin seating rod assembly and curtain latch mechanism from the tread plate. 5. Install the End Guard Screen Assembly (odd, 088-001-133, or even, 088-001-132, depending on which end of the line of pinspotters you are working on) in place of the tread plate that was removed in Step 3. 6. Install the pin seating rod assembly and curtain latch mechanism in the appropriate locations on the new side guard s angle bracket. 7. Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for the other handrail and End Guard Screen Assemblies. Solid End Guards 8. Remove the existing left and right end guard assemblies (solid guards). 9. 10. Install the new end guard hooks (088-001-112) in place of the old ones. 11. Hang the new solid end guard panels (L.H. end 090-006-243, and R.H. end 090-006-230) from the hooks and secure them in place with 1/4-20 x 2-inch screws and flat washers (see Figure 21).
