V-Contact VSC Contactors OPERATIVE MECHANISME ABB Power Technology - 4 - The Contactor with magnetic actuator is fitted with the mini MABS operating mechanism. The magnetic actuator - already widely used on the VM1 circuit-breakers - is now used for the first time on a contactor as well. It perfectly fits to a contactor: It has a linear and extremely precise stroke Power consumption extremely low compared to traditional solutions.

Type 1 between 24 and 60Vdc). The closing input voltage has to be in the same range of the feeder (eg. Type 1 between 24 and 60Vdc). The open input can be any voltage between 24 and 250Vac/dc. A continuous supply of 5W to the board is always required (15W immediately after one operation) to charge the capacitor Undervoltage release : DCO version only the apparatus has to open when the main power source is below 75% of rated auxiliary voltage and before it reaches 35% of rated auxiliary voltage; an open delay can be setted directly by the customed by means of dipswitches on the electronic board (0-0,5-1 - 2-3 - 4-5 sec) V-Contact V mono-stable electromagnetic actuator Electrical latching: When the feeder is supplied the contactor close (up to 250VA to close the apparatus) and keep close position (continuous power consumption up to 60-70 W) until the supply is cut and the contactor open due to the opening spring. Mechanical latching - a mechanical lock is actuated by the closing operation (up to 250VA to close the apparatus). To open the apparatus it is necessary to energize the opening coil (up to 75W) that unlock the system and allow the contactor to open due to the opening spring. Each rated voltage for opening operation require a different opening coil. No supply is required when the contactor is kept in close position. Not available

V-Contact VSC Contactors REDUCTION IN OPERATING COSTS A contactor with magnetic actuator requires a constant power supply which consumes less than 5W continuously (VSC7 400A). This guarantees extremely limited energy consumption when compared with the power required by a similar apparatus fitted with a traditional operating mechanism: Contact VSC7 5W Indicative power V- Consumption with traditional solutions 50-90W ABB Power Technology - 7 - This lower energy consumpion allow also to design a less expensive control circuit in low voltage compartment Its low energy consumption goes towards making the V-Contact VSC contactor a product respecting the environment.
