MY 1993-2001 Jeep Cherokee Fatal Fire Crashes, 1992-2013 This table includes known fire crashes obtained from NHTSA s Fatal Analysis Crash System (FARS) for Calendar Years 1992-2011 and from public records for other years and for crashes not listed in FARS. Where FARS indicates fire is the most harmful event, that is indicated. Where FARS indicates vehicle in transport, striking tree or other object, that is indicated. Where an autopsy or other public record shows fire was the cause of death, that is indicated. The Cherokee was discontinued after the 2001 model year and replaced by the Jeep Liberty which was introduced as a 2002 model year vehicle and is a new version of the Cherokee. The Cherokee was first introduced as a 1984 model year vehicle but models earlier than 1993 are not under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and are not included in this table.
