1. Definitions Danger Indicates an immediate hazardous situation that, if not prevented, will result in serious injury or death. Warning Indicates a possible hazardous situation that, if not prevented, could result in serious injury or death. Caution Indicates a possible hazardous situation that, if not prevented, could result in slight or moderate injury. This can also be used to point to unsafe use. 2. General safety regulations In the interest of your safety and to ensure correct use, it is important that you read these instructions carefully, including any tips and warnings, before using the product. Keep these instructions and ensure that users are properly informed as regards the use and safety of the product. Only use the cart in sound condition in accordance with the described purpose and in the environment for which it was produced in compliance with the instruction manual. Belintra is not responsible for: Damage caused by a failure to follow the instructions or by improper use. Consequences of modifications made to the product by the user. Damage caused by use other than the described purpose and the environment for which the cart was produced. Danger: Only pull out 1 basket at a time. If several baskets are tilted or pulled out at the same time, there is a real danger of the cart toppling over. The sill to be bridged is limited to a maximum height of 2 cm. With higher sills the risk of the cart toppling over and causing material damage and/or physical injury is too great. 3
Make sure you are in control of the cart at all times. This is to avoid third parties becoming crushed beneath the cart, for example, if it rolls down an inclined surface / stairs out of control. Warning: The maximum load is 25 kg / 55 lb per per of guides and 150 kg / 330 lb per column. Ensure the cart is loaded correctly. Heavy loads at bottom, light loads at top. This is out of ergonomic considerations, and to be able to guarantee the stability of the cart. Before and while moving the cart, check that no people or objects can become crushed by the cart. Adapt your speed to the circumstances at the time. To retain control over the cart in unexpected situations, it should never be moved at more than normal walking pace (4 to 5 km/h / 2 to 3 mph). Modifying the cart can be dangerous. For example, do not attach any extra weight to the side of the cart. This will affect the cart s stability. Assemble the cart as described in the instructions and make sure bolts are properly tightened (torque: 4Nm - advice). Caution: The UBeFlex KD is not suitable for the tunnel washer. The wheels and plastic parts are not resistant to the temperatures that may be encountered in the washer. White markings will also appear on the aluminium profiles. Before moving the cart, check that the wheel brakes have been disengaged. If not, this will cause premature wear on the wheels. When moving the cart, prevent objects from falling from it that could cause malfunctions and/or injury/damage. Avoid protruding parts during transport. Protect the assembly work surface (with card, film, etc.) in order to prevent damage. Wear gloves to prevent injury. 4
3. Introduction This manual describes how to use the UBeFlex KD. Because the cart comes in 2 boxes (and therefore requires assembly), you will be taken step by step through the assembly process. The UBeFlex KD is used in the medical sector (nursing homes, care centres, hospitals, etc.). There, this light and manoeuvrable cart can be used to transport ISO 600 x 400 mm / 16 x 24 inch modules, baskets, baskets and/or wire shelves with sterile and non-sterile material. The UBeFlex KD is made from anodised aluminium and comes with adjustable click guides fitted with U- and L-profiles. This makes it possible to transport different types of basket (including those with a high side). 4. Product and options The UBeFlex KD is available in 3 versions. 1. ISO1 D-type - in which the modules are slid into the cart in the deep (600 mm / 24 inch) direction. This is explained in the manual (UBKD1/HL/EN-US/0001). 2. ISO 2 D-type consisting of 2 D-type columns in which the modules are slid into the cart in the deep (600 mm / 24 inch) direction. 3. ISO1 W-type - in which the modules are slid into the cart in the wide (400 mm / 16 inch) direction. This is explained in the manual (UBKD1/HL/EN-US/0001). 6. Guidelines for use The UBeFlex KD was developed for internal transport. Always begin loading the cart from the bottom. Make sure that the heaviest loads are at the bottom and lighter ones are at the top for optimum stability and ergonomics. Optimize the load according to the height of the baskets or shelves to be transported with the adjustable click guides. Slide modules, baskets or shelves with a low side into the guides (U-profile). Slide modules, baskets or shelves with a high side on top of the guides (L-profile). Unlock the wheels during transport. Lock the wheels when stationary. Respect the maximum load: 25 kg / 55 lb per pair of guides, 150 kg / 330 lb per column. 7. Maintenance and inspection The cart must be inspected by technical staff at least once a year. Important aspects include: inspect for wear, check tightness of screws and examination of welds. The cart can be cleaned with a damp cloth with non-aggressive detergents. CAUTION Aluminium in a tunnel washer leads to white marks. Never use aggressive solvents such as alcohol, thinners and salt solutions to clean the cart. 23
