Doing so may cause serious damage, including glass breakage, to your Pella product. The cord should only be detached by a qualified service technician when performing service related procedures. 1 OPERATING THE HINGED GLASS PANEL Note: For products other than venting casement windows, proceed to Step C. A. Casement window with flat screen: Remove the flat screen by unlatching the screen clips and pulling the screen to the interior. B. Casement window with Rolscreen: Unlock and open the sash to 90 so that the hinged panel will not interfere with the Rolscreen. C. Locate the latch release(s) on a side or top of the hinged glass panel. On large panels check the top and bottom for additional latch releases. D. Slide each latch release away from the corner(s) of the sash. You will feel resistance at the latching points. Push past the resistance. (On venting double-hung windows, slide the latch release from the center toward one corner then back toward the opposite corner.) E. Return the latch releases to the original positions. DO NOT unhook or cut the white cord that restricts the opening of the hinged glass panel. Note: Hinged glass panels may be hinged on a side or at the bottom depending on the unit type. DO NOT unhook or cut cord G. Close the hinged glass panel, noting the latch locations. Press firmly on the hinged glass panel frame at the latch locations until you hear a click which indicates the latch has engaged. Note: Ensure all latches are engaged. Latch Page 2 of 6
2 GRILLES Follow the steps in Instruction 1 to open the hinged glass panel. A. Starting at the bottom, grasp the grille as close to the clip at the end of each bar as possible and pull toward the interior. B. Repeat step A at the end of each bar. Note: If the grille has Stand-Offs (large windows and doors with double pane), or Bumpers (triple pane), DO NOT remove them from the grille. A. Starting at the top, Align each clip with the dot matrix patterns imprinted on the frame. B. Snap the open side of each clip onto the frame by pressing on the clip. 3 BOTTOM UP SLIMSHADE BLIND AND CELLULAR SHADES Note: Follow the steps in Instruction 1 to open the hinged glass panel. Follow the steps in Instruction 2 to remove the grilles (if applicable). Bar Stand-Off Clip Bumper Dot Matrix Pattern Note: Remove the two cardboard end caps and other packaging from the blind/shade (if applicable), do not cut cords, shade cloth or damage blinds. A. Place the blind/shade in the full open position. B. For shades 47 or wider only: Remove the shade support clip located near the center of the shade mounting channel. Remove the clip from the bottom of the mounting channel, then remove the clip from the hinged glass panel. C. Release the blind/shade from the mounting stud by pulling the plastic tab. D. Remove the blind/shade head rail from the drive gear and second mounting stud by sliding it away from the operator side of the hinged glass panel. Shade Support Clip Plastic Tab A. Make sure the shade operator handle is near the bottom of the hinged glass panel. This allows for full travel of the operator handle to raise or lower the blind/shade completely. B. To install the blind/shade, slide the operator end of the top rail over the mounting stud, while guiding the operator drive into the drive gear. This end is labeled "A" on the top of the head rail. It may be necessary to move the shade operator handle up slightly to help align the gear. Mounting Stud Head Rail Operator Drive Drive Gear Page 3 of 6
3 BOTTOM UP SLIMSHADE BLIND AND CELLULAR SHADES (CONTINUED) C. Press the opposite end of the rail over the second mounting stud. Note: Bottom-up cellular shades may appear to be too short for the unit. The shade will lengthen after hanging in the down position for a few hours. If the shade does not hang straight, open and close it completely two to three times. D. For shades 47" or wider: Attach the shade support clip to the top of the hinged glass panel near the center of the hinged glass panel. However, if there is a grille that will be attached at the center point, move the support to the left or right of center. Next, lift up on the shade head rail, to engage the clip. Bar 4 TILT ONLY SLIMSHADE BLINDS Shade Support Clip Note: Follow the steps in Instruction 1 to open the hinged glass panel. Follow the steps in Instruction 2 to remove the grilles (if applicable). A. Slip the metal support clips off the hinged glass panel frame. B. Release the blind from the mounting stud by pulling the head rail. C. Remove the blind head rail from the drive gear and second mounting stud by sliding it away from the operator side of the hinged glass panel. Note: Remove the plastic bands and foam pads from the blind (if applicable), do not cut cords or damage the slats. With one hand, compress the blind while removing the banding and foam pads, then remove the cord from the cardboard spool. Grasp the bottom rail, and gently pull down until the bottom rail almost touches the bottom of the hinged glass panel. A. Install the bottom rail retainers. (If the bottom rail retainers are already in place, proceed to Step B.) Pull the tape from the LH retainer and place it approximately 1/4" from the left end of the hinged glass panel bottom rail as shown. Repeat this process for the RH retainer, placing it at the right end of the hinged glass panel bottom rail. B. Check the location of the shade operator handle. Ensure that it is located at least 4" above or below one of the hinged glass panel latches. This allows for sufficient travel of the operator handle to tilt the blind completely. Page 4 of 6
4 TILT ONLY SLIMSHADE BLINDS (CONTINUED) C. Install the blind by sliding the operator end of the head rail over the mounting stud while guiding the operator drive into the drive gear. D. Secure the head rail by pressing the opposite end of the rail over the second mounting stud. E. There will be up to six support clips depending on the width of the blind. Space the support clips evenly between the cord ladders along the head rail. Do not cover locations where grilles will be installed. Press the top of the clip onto the hinged glass panel frame. F. Place the shade bottom rail between the glass of the hinged glass panel and the legs of the bottom rail retainer. 5 TOP DOWN CELLULAR SHADES Note: Follow the steps in Instruction 1 to open the hinged glass panel. Follow the steps in Instruction 2 to remove the grilles (if applicable). A. Place the shade in the full open position. B. For shades 47" or wider only: Remove the center shade support clip by taking it off of the mounting channel, then remove the clip from the hinged glass panel. C. Release the blind/shade from the mounting stud by pulling the plastic tab. D. Remove the shade head rail from the drive gear and second mounting stud by sliding it away from the operator side of the hinged glass panel. Note: Take care to avoid tangling the internal cords as the shade is removed from the window. Shade Support Clip Plastic Tab Page 5 of 6
5 TOP DOWN CELLULAR SHADES (CONTINUED) Note: Remove the two cardboard end caps and other packaging from the blind/shade (if applicable), do not cut cords, shade cloth or damage blinds. Hold the compressed shade while removing the banding, then gently lower the compressed shade until it reaches the bottom of the hinged glass panel. A. Ensure the operator handle is near the bottom of the hinged glass panel prior to inserting the blind/shade. This allows for full travel of the operator handle to raise or lower the blind/shade completely. B. Insert the shade into the hinged glass panel frame by sliding the operator end of the head rail over the mounting Mounting Stud stud while guiding the operator drive into the drive gear.
