Remove LPF kit from packaging and verify contents with component list shown on page 2. Familiarize yourself with each component number as they will be referenced throughout the instructions. Collect required and optional tools shown on page 3. Remove vehicle panels and/or carpet to access reverse light wiring. Some tools not listed in the tool list may be required to access the reverse light wiring on your vehicle. Refer to vehicle service manual and wiring diagrams to verify reverse light wire colors. If you do not know the polarity of the wires, use test light (G) to determine polarity of wires. A. If the driver box (ITEM 3) will be mounted inside the cabin of the vehicle and there is access into the cabin for the LPF (ITEM 1) connector proceed to step 4. B. If the driver box will be mounted outside of the cabin (in the bumper, under the car, etc.) route the bare wires into the cabin. Use zip ties (ITEM 6) to dress the wires. Proceed to step 4. C. If the driver box will be mounted inside of the vehicle and there is no access hole for the LPF connector skip to step 8 and then return to step 4. Use splice taps (ITEM 7) to connect positive (red) wire on driver box harness (ITEM 4) to positive reverse light wire on vehicle. Repeat for negative (black) wire. Squeeze splice taps with pliers (B) to make connection. Attach weatherpack connector on driver box harness to the driver box (ITEM 3). Attach double-sided tape (ITEM 8) to back of driver box. Clean surface of vehicle with isopropyl alcohol (F) or another solvent and attach driver box to flat surface of the vehicle. The driver box can also be mounted with screws (sold separately). Driver box should be positioned so that there is sufficient length on the wire to attach to the LPF connector.
BACK TOP OF PLATE MAINTAIN APPROX. 1/2 GAP IN GASKET FOR WIRES SOME PLATES MAY REQUIRE SMALL NOTCH IN TOP FOR WIRES TOP F RON T OPTIONAL STEP: If there is no suitable location to route the LPF connector into the cabin, use drill with 3/8 drill bit (D) to create a hole in a location that is not visible with license plate installed deburr edges of hole if necessary. Drilling a small pilot hole before drilling the larger 3/8 hole is recommended. 3/8 hole size is critical for the grommet on ITEM 1 to seal properly during final assembly. If the hole is too large use silicone to seal grommet (sold separately). Return to step 4. Remove license plate from vehicle using screwdriver (A). Clean back of license plate with isopropyl alcohol or other solvent. Attach 3 strips of license plate gasket (ITEM 5) as shown. Space must be kept in center of license plate for wires to be routed. Remove magnetic front cover from LPF. Remove blue transfer material from double-sided tape on back of LPF. Align holes and stick LPF to top edge of license plate. OPTIONAL: All license plates dimensions vary slightly. Some notching of the center or sanding of the top edge of the license plate may be required to fit the wires properly. Use a dremel or sander (E) to make clearance for wires and edge. Route LPF connector down the back of the license plate and connect to driver box connector. Align holes and use provided flat head Philips screws (ITEM 2) to attach license plate and LPF to vehicle. If your vehicle uses different screws than the ones provided, you may need to purchase ones that fit your vehicle. IMPORTANT: Tighten screws by hand. DO NOT use impact driver as it may damage the LPF, license plate and/or vehicle.
Verify that the LPF turns on when the vehicle is in reverse. If the LPF does not activate when vehicle is in reverse, check wiring connections. Attach the magnetic screw cover to LPF. 10
