S T A B I L Y S A F O R C O A T I N G A green binder for cost reduction and improved runnability The information technology revolution, digital image development and the worldwide web were seen as announcing the decline of paper as a communication medium. It is true that these developments have changed the market but the sales of coated papers have continued to increase. The Paper Industry is today facing the challenge of costs increases. Energy, petroleum-based chemicals and pigment prices have been increasing dramatically over the past four years as oil prices have risen. STABILYS A is a range of modified natural polymers, developed to meet the ever increasing demands of the paper industry for cost savings and increased productivity and satisfies very real concerns regarding the environment and general sustainability. S T A B I L Y S A F O R C O A T I N G High quality printing surfaces can be obtained whilst partially replacing latex Partially replacement of latex in the pre-coat by STABILYS A can be achieved without sacrificing strength properties or printability. STABILYS A a participant in paper industry sustainability STABILYS A are AOX- Free modified natural polymers made from natural renewable raw materials using the newest technologies, to minimize the use of chemicals and environmental impact. STABILYS A makes it possible to run at higher coating solids giving energy cost reductions and quality improvements The molecular weight distribution and molecule structure of STABILYS A provides the correct rheology and improved water retention, maximizing coater runnability. STABILYS A, additional opportunities for cost savings Additional cost savings can be obtained from reductions in PVA and CMC because of the influence of STABILYS A on OBA efficiency and water retention. STABILYS A is easy to use STABILYS A gives a very stable glue and its applications include surface sizing, pre and top coating, from low to high solids formulations. Supported up by our paper application laboratory, customer engineering service, and R&D facilities, our skilled technical and commercial team are committed to help you manage your costs by selecting and applying the most appropriate grade of STABILYS A for your requirements. ROQUETTE Industrial Starches Business Unit The ROQUETTE commitment to paper industry has a proven, longstanding record. ROQUETTE has provided technical support and equipment for starch cooking to the European paper industry for more than 4 years and developed wet end cationic, surface sizing and coating starches for a wide range of paper applications. ROQUETTE is the world leader for wet end cationic starches and currently developing new technologies for the wet-end to reduce the use of petroleum based polymers and to save energy. Developments in coating are also based on the assumption that sustainability is a key to the world future and also aim at replacing petroleum based chemicals and saving energy. Serving the Paper Industry globally and locally is the task of our commercial and technical team. Our R&D and application laboratories create and evaluate prototypes and processes, turning know-how into valuable and effective solutions for papermaking today and tomorrow. P A G E 3
