Pre-dewatering belts are the equipment which reduce sludge volume in several types of treatment plants. They can be used either before the belt press units, or as a separate sludge thickener. Especially in plants which treat nitrogen and phosphorus, they may be preferred as a mechanical thickener as the sludge stand-by time is shorter. Pre-dewatering belts provided by Sismat Uluslararası are especially designed for having continuous operation, low polymer and energy consumption compared with the other mechanical thickening equipment, long lifetime provided and low maintenance requirement. They are compact equipment which do not require extra space when used on top of the belt press units. Effective distribution of sludge is provided with the pillow blocks to have maximum efficiency. The number and spacing of the pillow blocks are determined depending on sludge characteristics. Drums can be added to increase belt length depending on capacity requirements. OUR SPECIFICATIONS WORKING PRINCIPLE Pre-dewatering Belts perform the initial solid-liquid separation process which the solid concentration of sludge is increased from 0.8% to 4-6%. Sismat Uluslararası Pre-dewatering Belts are the equipment which are mainly composed of three drums, belt and pillow blocks. The drum that drives the moving belt is drive drum; the other drum is guide drum allowing the belt to work properly; and the third one is tension drum that provides an efficient operation by tensioning the belt. The belt moves around the drive drum, guide drum and tension drum. Sludge to be predewatered enters the system through an inlet flange and meets the belt moving as an endless loop. There are pillow blocks on the belt which allow the sludge to be distributed well by continuously stirring. The stirring motion helps to complete the flocculation process as required. During the travel of sludge, excess amount of water leave the sludge by leaking through the belt, it is collected in a hopper and sent from the system. The predewatered sludge is discharged into a container or conveyor with the help of a scraper.
