Candidate name Result (C or FER) Unit Standard Number: Practical Assessment Record 19053 Unit Standard Title Ride a motorcycle on flat terrain Unit: 19053v3 Level: 2 Credit: 3 Assessment version: 4.2 Notes for Assessors Candidates must be competent for all criteria on the following pages. The Comment' boxes are there to provide feedback to the candidate on those areas where more practice is needed. In many cases, some assessor comments made here will help to validate the assessment decision you have made. This may be particularly important where safety is involved. You are encouraged to use these boxes as much as possible. Part of ensuring the candidate is competent is you being confident that not only they can do the task, but that they could repeat the task and achieve the same outcome consistently. On the following page are some notes for this particular unit as to how this repeatability might be achieved: o At Level 2, candidates are expected to be doing tasks under regular supervision. o They should have some basic operational knowledge and be able to do tasks that are established and familiar. o They are not expected to be able to work on their own, or solve complex or unfamiliar problems. Once the candidate is competent for each Outcome, please initial in the space provided. Once you are confident the candidate is competent for the whole unit, sign and date the Final Sign Off section at the end of this practical assessment evidence guide. 2013 Primary Industry Training Organisation Inc. Notes for this unit The assessment for this unit standard consists of the evidence guide below, as well as a riding log that must be filled in by the candidate. This riding log is an essential requirement of the evidence for this unit and will give the assessor confidence that the candidate s ability is repeatable. There should be a minimum of 10 hours riding of the motorcycle documented in the riding log before the assessor considers signing the candidate off as competent. The riding log must be verified by someone, who could be the assessor, the candidate s employer, or a parent or guardian. Candidates must wear a compliant helmet at all times when riding a motorcycle. During assessment, manufacturer recommendations and legislative requirements for the minimum age of a person driving a motorcycle must be complied with. Assessment should consider the candidate s attitude and behaviour while operating a motorcycle. Attitude and behaviour is defined as a willingness to comply with, and consistent awareness of, safety requirements and workplace procedures. Examples include; wearing a helmet, operating the vehicle in a manner which minimises risk to self and others, avoiding no-go areas, not carrying inappropriate loads or passengers, and following instructions regarding care and maintenance of vehicles. Note: Please note also that unit standard 24555 is a pre-requisite for this unit, and candidates must have achieved 24555 before results for this unit standard can be registered. 2013 Primary Industry Training Organisation Inc.
