The 3AH Vacuum Circuit-Breakers Versatile, High-Performing, Economical

Five Circuit-Breakers any Task Nowadays circuit-breakers are used for the most varied of tasks - they switch all kinds of devices, including transformers, overhead lines, cables, capacitors, reactors, motors, filter circuits and arc furnaces. They must be suitable for both prolonged idle times and an extremely high number of operating cycles. Low short-circuit ratings required by supply systems are up against the demand for high breaking currents in industrial applications. The 3AH circuit-breakers for medium voltage The Siemens 3AH vacuum circuit-breakers cater for all medium-voltage requirements. The Five with Three Major Advantages Versatile, Economical and High-Performing Versatile for any application Thanks to the interplay between a special contact geometry and contact material specifically developed for this purpose, the 3AH circuit-breakers can be applied universally for all switching duties in the medium-voltage range. Regardless of whether maintenance-free standard circuitbreakers, circuit-breakers for a particularly high number of operating cycles or versions for particularly high switching capacities are needed, our 3AH circuitbreakers are the right solution for any requirements profile, whether this involves singlepole or two-pole circuit-breakers for special applications or threepole circuit-breakers for standard applications. They are suitable for: rapid load transfer, synchronizing auto-reclosing up to 31.5 A breaking of short-circuit currents with very high initial rates-of-rise for the transient recovery voltage switching of motors and generators switching of transformers and reactors switching of overhead lines and cables switching of capacitors switching of filter circuits and arc furnaces Economical in every respect Our 3AH circuit-breakers allow the user to economize on both time and costs. Our 3AH vacuum circuit-breakers soon pay for themselves, particularly in systems requiring frequent switching. Even after long idle times, the circuit-breakers of the 3AH series do not require any relubrication up to 10,000 operating cycles and this is all attributable to low-wear material combinations at the bearings and long-lasting greases. The tight tolerance limits in 3AH production rule out impermissible play. Even for frequent switching, the 3AH standard circuit-breaker does not require any readjustment all points in favor of increased profitability. 4

And it is precisely there that the circuitbreakers demonstrate their efficiency day in day out. They function reliably in vacuum and thus offer a high level of availability. The 3AH circuitbreakers are as suitable for long idle times as they are for a high number of operating cycles. This is exactly why they are so attractive in terms of the stringent demands placed on them by the power distribution and industrial sectors. The efficiency of these circuitbreakers is clearly attributable to their high standard of quality. And we ensure this quality right from the preliminary stages: Following assembly, each individual breaker is subjected to several hundred operating cycles in routine testing. 3AH1 and 3AH3 Standard Circuit-Breakers The Allrounders from 7.2 up to 36 kv 3AH1 the allrounder in the series The 3AH1 is the universal vacuum circuit-breaker: It combines all of the system and product advantages of the 3AH series, which are significant features for most applications. It covers the conventional medium-voltage range from 7.2 to 24 kv, with 10,000 operating cycles. Its compact design permits a switchgear width of 600 mm at the 12 kv level. The clear structure of the operating mechanism permits quick access to all components. This also allows the secondary equipment to be supplemented at a later stage. 3AH3 maintenance-free for high switching capacities It requires no maintenance, is extremely efficient and manages up to 10,000 operating cycles. The 3AH3 is used for high short-circuit currents up to 63 ka and for rated voltages up to 36 kv. Thanks to its high efficiency, it is the ideal circuit-breaker for use in generators and for industrial applications. 3AH2 and 3AH4 Frequent-Operation Circuit-Breakers The Performers from 7.2 up to 36 kv 3AH2 allows a high number of operating cycles In industrial areas in particular, certain applications require a high number of operating cycles: In the voltage range up to 24 kv, the 3AH2 can handle up to 60,000 operating cycles. With only minimum maintenance work such as greasing of the operating mechanism after 10,000 switching cycles and the replacement of the vacuum interrupters after 30,000 cycles, the reliability of these breakers is ensured for their entire service life, despite the high mechanical stress to which they are subjected. 3AH4 the breaker for a high number of operating cycles A great number of operating cycles are required for certain industrial uses. For instance, the switching of arc furnaces requires more than 100 operating cycles per day. The 3AH4 vacuum circuit-breaker is designed for this extremely high performance level up to 36 kv: It can manage as many as 120,000 cycles. The 3AH4 reliably masters this extreme stress throughout its entire service life. The operating mechanism does not require greasing until after 10,000 cycles. 3AH5 Economy Circuit-Breakers The Economizer from 12 up to 36 kv Special Circuit-Breakers 3AH5 economical even for low switching capacities State-of-the-art vacuum technology renders the 3AH5 vacuum circuitbreaker economical even in the low switching capacity range. Where conventional circuit-breakers have hitherto been used, the 3AH5 offers such advantages as compact dimensions and robust vacuum interrupters. Compared to conventional circuit-breakers, it offers five times the number of operating cycles with shortcircuit currents. Particularly for users who themselves wish to supplement their secondary equipment or only need to break low short-circuit currents, the 3AH5 offers the most favorable solution between 12 and 17.5 kv up to 25 ka and between 24 and 36 kv up to 16 ka.
