OPTIMUM CORROSION - RESISTANCE - FILAMENT WOUND FOR SUPERIOR STRENGTH - LOW COST; MINIMUM MAINTENANCE Resin.Fab fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks are vented, atmospheric pressure, above-ground storage and processing vessels. They are designed to offer users in the chemical, food and other processing industries maximum corrosion resistance, minimum cost and superior strength. Multi-Layer Laminate Construction The key benefits of superior strength and corrosion resistance are achieved by Process Equipment's filament winding of fiberglass and the smooth, resin-rich inner surface which are part of the multi-laminate construction. The first of the four laminated layers is a 10 to 20 mil thick inner surface of almost pure resin reinforced with chemical resistant glass or organic veil. Second is a 125 mil thick layer of resin reinforced with 30% to 35% chopped glass roving. Third is a filament wound layer of 65% to 70 A) continuous strand glass roving for highest circumferential strength, applied in thicknesses to meet varying structural requirements. The fourth layer is a resin-rich exterior surface for added corrosion resistance to spillage. Four layers of laminate construction include: resin-rich inner surface; O interior layer with chopped glass roving; filament wound layer of continuous strand roving; and, CI exterior surface of thick resin for added corrosion resistance to spillage. Cylindrical vertical tanks are made with a choice of open or closed top; flat, dished or sloping bottom and are available with a full range of accessory items. 2

Smooth, Resin-Rich inner Surface The inner surface of Resin-Fab tanks is virtually pure resin with chemical resistant glass reinforcement. Resins used for the inner tank surface include USDA and FDA approved polyester and vinyl ester or a number of other resin systems most suitable for individual customer requirements. The surface is extremely smooth and is easily cleaned for further assurance of corrosion resistance. Strength-To-Weight Ratio Greater Than Steel In the filament winding process, thousands of continuous strands of high-strength fiberglass are impregnated with resin and are wound over a mandrel in a computer-controlled helical pattern for superior strength. After curing, this forms a hard, homogenous tank shell with a flexural and tensile strength much greater than can be accomplished by hand lay-up. And it achieves a strength-to-weight ratio greater than that of steel. Variety 01 Styles, Sizes, Capacities Resin-Fab fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks are made in a full range of standard styles, sizes and capacities to fit most storage and processing needs. For unusual requirements, custom designs are also available. Standard styles include cylindrical vertical tanks with open or closed top and flat, dished or sloping bottom; cone bottom tanks with choice of 60 or 90 cone angle; and cylindrical horizontal tanks. Capacities, which are shown on following pages in relation to tank sizes and models, range up to 40,000 gallons. Broad Range 01 Storage And Processing Applications Resin-Fab fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks are ideal for virtually any storage or processing application which requires a strong, corrosion resistant, low cost, maintenance-free unit. Because of their optimum resistance to corrosion, these tanks are widely used in the chemical processing field, but their economy and durability also make them well suited for storage and processing applications in many other industries. The smooth inner surfaces of Resin-Fab tanks are easily cleaned to meet the strict sanitary demands of the food industry; and all materials used in construction are USDA and FDA approved for food industry use. Cone bottom tanks have extra strong fiberglass reinforced cones with choice of 60 or 90 cone angle for easy handling of highly viscous fluids or flowable dry materials. Horizontal tanks, such as this typical 6,000 gallon capacity unit used for storage of polymers and corrosive acids, are often specified to provide large storage capacity in areas where there is limited headroom. In most horizontal fiberglass reinforced plastic tank installations, tanks are supported off the floor by structural steel saddles. These six 12' diameter, 25,000 gallon capacity tanks in a water purification plant are representative of a comparatively large installation where corrosion resistance is of prime importance. The tanks store corrosive chemicals such as ferric chloride and liquid alum used for removing metal and other wastes from water. These tanks have been performing this corrosion resistant storage function for nearly a decade without requiring any more than absolute minimal maintenance. 3

AGITATORS Side Entering, Top Entering and Portable Models Portable Model PG Top Entering Model TEPF Side Entering Model SSE ACCESSORIES Complete Line To Meet Individual Needs Fillings A full range of fittings is available to custom tailor your tank and match your piping requirements. These include a variety of ANSI 150# drilled fiberglass flanged nozzles, special full drain flanges, siphon flanges and double flanges to offer design flexibility. Flanges can also be conical or plate gusseted for special load or mounting applications. Threaded NPT fiberglass nipples and couplings are also available, as are standard mushroom and gooseneck vents. Manholes and Covers Standard top mounted manhole assemblies are manufactured in 20", 24" and 30" diameters and are available with lift-off, hinged or bolted covers. Bolted side manhole assemblies are made in the same diameters, plus a 16" x 20" inswing/outswing model. Covers for open top tanks are available in one-, two- and three-piece styles, hinged or bolted. Level GaUgeS A permanently calibrated strip gauge embedded in the sidewall of the translucent fiberglass tank permits reading the content level of non-insulated tanks under proper light conditions. Other types of level gauge assemblies are also available. Ladders OSHA approved ladders can be specified for mounting to Resin-Fab tanks and can be ordered with safety cages, top handrails and non-skid surfaces. Insulation Polyurethane insulation in 1" and 2" thicknesses can be applied to the tank outer surface and overwound for complete protection from spillage and weathering. COO Double and single hairpin heating and cooling coils of T-304 or T-316 stainless steel are available for use with Resin-Fab tanks. Lugs Cadmium plated heavy steel lifting lugs are wound into the tank side wall for easy handling on most models. Optional hold-down lugs or stainless steel lugs may be specified for certain applications. Electrical Heating An electrical heating system is available for maintaining specific product temperatures in insulated Resin-Fab tanks. It can maintain any product temperature up to 140 F, but is not designed to increase temperatures. The system utilizes flexible epoxy-fiberglass panels which contain a foil heating unit of very low watt density to minimize the possibility of overheating the tank wall. Because of the many variables involved in heating, it is recommended that a heating system be specified by our Engineering Department after learning all details of the particular application. 6

Three basic types of agitators are available from Process Equipment Corporation for use with Resin-Fab fiberglass reinforced plastic tanks. And each of the side entering, top entering and portable models is available in a range of sizes to meet virtually every in-tank mixing, blending or processing requirement. Each model is computer designed to the exact size and blade type including propeller, turbine or paddle blades to suit the many variables of a specific application. Side entering agitators are available in four different sizes of belt driven models. They are usually specified for keeping mixtures in suspension or enhancing heat transfer. Side entering units are often more cost effective, especially in tall tanks where the shaft length of atop entering mixer would be prohibitive, or in applications where baffles are not desired. Top entering agitators are made in direct drive and gear reduction models. They are mounted on tank tops in a variety of standard mounting methods, including flanges, support rails and channels, depending on the model and specific application. Portable agitator models include direct drive and gear reduction units with varying horsepower and speeds. Air operated portable units are also available for use in hazardous locations or when variable speed is desired. All models are equipped with a heavy duty clamp which permits easy tilting and swiveling for most efficient mixing.
