COMPANY PROFILE

VOP-026 Šternberk, s.p. the largest manufacturer of defence equipment in the Czech Republic a company with internationally recognized experts in the field of research and development a reputable partner for testing and certification a company with a long-standing tradition in engineering production

Company history VOP-026 Šternberk, s.p. has a long-standing tradition in engineering production. The company was established after the end of WW 2 as a repair shop for the WW 2 military equipment. The company activities were gradually supplemented by research & development, upgrading, production, maintenance and testing of equipment for ground forces and engineering production for civilian purposes that is mostly exported. More than 20,000 units of defence equipment have passed through the gateways of the company. We have repaired 4,600 main battle tanks (T-34, T-55, T-72), over 3,600 infantry fighting vehicles (BMP-1, BMP-2) and several other types of wheeled or tracked vehicles. 1946 beginning of VOP 025 (Nový Jičín) s history 1951 beginning of VOP-026 (Šternberk) s history 1989 establishment of both the state-owned companies 1994 re-structuring of the Šternberk company, establishment of Engineering Production Division and Defence Production Division 1997 - VOP-026 (Šternberk) acquired its current name - VOP-026 Šternberk, s.p. 2003 the Military Technical Institute for Ground Forces in Vyškov and the Military Technical Institute for Weapons and Ammunition in Slavičín were incorporated into the VOP-026 organizational structure as VTÚPV Vyškov & VTÚVM Slavičín Divisions 2005 the Military Technical Institute of Protection in Brno was incorporated into the VOP-026 organizational structure as VTÚO Brno Division 2010 consolidation into one company under the name of VOP-026 Šternberk, s.p.

Company mission VOP-026 Šternberk, s.p. accomplishes its mission as determined in the company s foundation charter. Its key competencies include: Provision of continuous and efficient support to the country s defence capability and national security through the supply of complex services and products in the field of defence and security equipment and partnerships within international organizations. Reliable, flexible and innovative collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Internal Affairs and other business associates in the sphere of technical progress focused on defence and counterterrorism. Sharing the development of science, research & development, production and testing of defence and civilian products on the domestic as well as international level and their ultimate application to the customers needs. Meeting the requirements of domestic as well as foreign customers. Contributing to the development of the regions in which the company operates including promotion of employment and protection of the environment. Securing the company employees needs and creating the inspiring occupational environment. Significant projects in the company history We have performed an in-house development, production or upgrade of the following significant equipment: Development and production of the upgraded T-72M4 CZ MBT Development and production of commander s and recovery tank based upon the T-72M4 CZ chassis Refurbishment and upgrade of 350 BMP-1 vehicles to the requirements of the Swedish Armed Forces Development and production of the commander s variant of BMP-2 Conversion of BMP-1 to the commander s armoured personnel carrier Conversion of BMP-1 to the mobile workshop Production of Pandur II 8x8 including its specialised mission kits Production of ACHR-90M NBC vehicle Development and production of AM-70 vehicle-launched bridge Development and production of field hospitals and medical modules Development and production of mobile workshops designed for different types of defence equipment Maintenance of the Army of the Czech Republic s equipment in international missions Long-term mass production of components for construction and road-building machines, handling machines and water management systems Quality and certificates Our long-term, strategic goal is to enhance the quality management system and accredited and certified activities of the company. VOP-026 complies with the quality requirements of the EU market and the requirements of NATO relevant to implementation of defence projects on the domestic and international level.
