Page 1 of 6 Year = 2006 Model = F-Super Duty Engine = VIN = Fuel Injector Control Module (FICM ) Low Voltage Circuit Function The FICM requires a 12-volt power source. The FICM receives power from the vehicle batteries through the FICM relay contacts each time the key is turned to the ON position. As the key is turned to the ON position, the FICM provides an internal ground to the coil side of the FICM relay. This closes the relay contacts and provides the FICM with the necessary power. Fault/Management When the FICM continuously receives less than 7 volts or more than 16 volts, diagnostic trouble codes ( DTC ) P1378 or P1379 are set. DTCs P1378 or P1379 may also cause DTCs P2552 and P0148 to set.

Retrieve and record all DTCs. Record the freeze frame data. Clear the DTCs. Carry out the self-test. Is DTC P1378 or P1379 present? For DTC P1378, Go to S2. For DTC P1379, Go to S6. For DTC P0611 only, Go to S7.

Measure the voltage between: FICM Relay Connector, Harness Side B+ (coil) - Pin 1 Ground B+ (contacts) - Pin 5 Ground Are the voltages greater than 10.5 V? Go to S4. S4 : CHECK THE FICM RELAY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN Ignition OFF. FICM_C connector disconnected. For F-Super Duty, Measure the resistance between: For E-Series, FICM Relay Connector, Harness Side FICM Power - Pin 3 FICM Logic Power - Pin 8 PCM Power Relay connector disconnected. Measure the resistance between: PCM Power Relay Connector, Harness Side VPWR - Pin 87 FICM Logic Power - Pin 8 Is the resistance less than 5 Ohm? Go to S5.

Page 5 of 6 FICM Relay Connector, Harness Side FICM Control - Pin 2 FICM Control - Pin 27 Is the resistance less than 5 Ohm? INSTALL a new FICM relay. S6 : DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE ( DTC) P1379 DTC P1379 indicates the FICM supply voltage high. Possible causes: charging system alternator Clear the DTCs. Carry out the self-test. Is DTC P1379 present? REFER to the Workshop Manual Section 414-00 Charging System to diagnosis the overcharging condition. Unable to duplicate the condition. CHECK for a loose connection, and damaged or corroded terminals. WIGGLE the harness attempting to recreate the concern. REPAIR as necessary. REFER to Section 3, Symptom Charts, if a driveability concern exists. S7 : CHECK THE FICM POWER RELAY Carry out the FICM power relay component test. Refer to the Wiring Diagrams Cell 149 Component Testing. Does the FICM power relay pass the component test? Go to S8. INSTALL a new FICM relay.
