.2 Grasp both latch bails and pull upward rotating both latches past 90 degrees to separate the dome from the base. Remove the dome from the base. 4.2 The splice tray and mounting plate can now be removed. Adjustable Stack Storage 4.0 Splice Tray and Storage Basket Features Overview 4.1 Splice tray and mounting plate can be removed by loosening the screw and sliding the tray locking bracket down. 4.3 Note that the splice tray and mounting plate can be relocated at three different heights enabling more room underneath the splice tray in the storage basket. Maximum tray capacity is in position one. Position Tray apacity 1 6 2 5 3 4 4
.4 If the splice tray mounting plate is mounted on position three, the tray plate lock and screw needs to be relocated in the upper hole as shown. When the splice tray mounting plate is mounted on position one and position two, use lower hole for the tray plate lock and screw. 5.0 Temporary Work Surface Arrangement 5.1 When the closure is mounted horizontally (such as aerial) the tray and mounting plate can be relocated allowing the craftsperson to covert it to a temporary work surface. Simply remove the tray and relocate it by inserting the tabs fully into the corresponding slots in the basket. This feature requires the craftsperson to allow additional slack when routing and splicing fiber. (ables and fiber not shown for clarity.) 4.5 Reposition the splice tray mounting plate at the desired level. Push the tray fully into the slots. Ensure all four tabs on the mounting plate are engaged in the correct level slots. 5.2 The tray mounting plate will lock in place when in the lowered position. Note that basket is configured to accept the splice tray and mounting plate with the closure mounted in both left and right handed orientation. Note: This work surface is intended for light duty excessive weight may damage components. 4.6 Lock the plate by sliding the lock up against tab under the mounting plate and retighten the screw to ten inch lbs. 5
.3 Note that the center tabs can be bent down flush with basket allowing a more open slack storage area. Arrange fiber to allow slack for splicing. Note: A center tab feature in the slack storage basket allows cable slack to be stored in two different levels. 8.0 3M ouble able Entry Port EAM-27 MM- and able Preparation 8.1 Refer to the instructions supplied with the 27 MM EAM ouble Entry Port for removal, installation, cable preparation and cable grounding. 8.4 Ribbon slack can be stored in the same manner. It may be necessary to remove the ribbon transport tube in order to store the slack without kinking the tube or fiber. Fiber Slack Storage 8.2 Route the cable slack into storage basket. One technique for storing express buffer tube cable is described here: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 7
.0 Splice Tray Preparation 9.1 Remove the tray cover by pressing down on the end of cover and pulling cover as shown. 9.3 Install splice inserts by placing edge of insert under tabs in nest on tray. Bow insert and install under tabs on opposite side. 9.4 able ties can be pre-installed. 9.2 Splice inserts available (Quantity and type dependent on configuration and order): 3.0 mm fusion splice insert 2.4 mm fusion splice insert Mass fusion splice insert 3M Fibrlok Splice Insert 8
Storage basket mounted splice tray 9.5 etermine slack requirements needed. Route fiber as needed to maintain minimum bend radius. Note that the fiber is routed into the splice tray from the opposite side of the storage basket in order to minimize the chances of kinking the fiber. 10.0 Buffer Tube Preparation 10.1 Ring and remove buffer tube sheath per best company practice. lean fiber. Make sure any gel or grease is removed. lean until fiber squeaks. ut ½" (12 mm) of 3M Scotchmate Fastener and wrap around the end of buffer tube. Work surface mounted splice tray Splice tray positioned externally 10.2 Install into tray and secure with two cable ties. 9
.0 Ribbon Fiber Preparation 11.1 ut a one-inch (25 mm) section of the rubber gripper supplied with the splice tray kit and use to secure buffer tubes or ribbon fiber (up to six ribbons) to tray. Route and secure ribbon cable as needed. Note: Only use the middle two inserts when splicing ribbon fiber. 12.0 Installing transition tube for pass through applications 12.1 ut six to eight inches of tubing provided for you in the kit. 12.2 Tie down one end at the first position on the left side of tray #1 and other end at the furthest position to the right on tray #2. 11.2 Attach splice log decal to cover. Note that bottom portion of decal can be cut off and used to identify individual trays. 12.3 arefully feed the pass through fibers through the transition tubing from tray #1 through to tray #2. 12.4 Route and splice fibers according to best company practice. 10
.4 Remove the splice tray by rotating the tray up and twisting the tray at the same time. 13.0 Adding and Removing Splice Trays 13.1 To add a tray, align the rectangular tab on the pivot vertically. rop one side into the mating pivot hole in the lower tray. 13.5 Unlock the tray by depressing the locking arm. This allows the tray to be free to pivot. 13.2 Now push the upper tray toward the engaged pivot. 13.6 Install the tray cover by placing cover on tray. Align the cover with smaller triangular shaped tabs on spice tray. 13.3 Align and lower to engage the opposite pivot. 11
.7 Lock the cover in place by sliding the cover under the tabs as shown. 13.8 Secure the trays by attaching retaining straps. 14.2 Prepare and install branch or drop cable using instructions supplied with 3M External able Assembly Module (EAM) able Entry Port 18 mm. 14.0 able Installation 14.1 Remove the plug by first removing the retaining fork and then pulling the plug out. 15.0 ome Installation 15.1 Ensure both the dome seal area and base O-ring are free of dirt or any damage. If needed, clean area and apply a light film of supplied silicone lubricant. Failure to maintain a clean seal area may lead to leakage. Note: Follow health, safety and environmental information. Refer to product label or Material Safety ata Sheet for silicone lubricant. 12
.4 Tighten the security screw and torque to 30 inch-lbs. 15.2 Install the dome on the base by first aligning the security screw features on both the base and dome. Slide dome onto base. 15.5 A cable tie can be used for additional security of the latches and dome if needed. Insert through latches across the back side of the dome as shown. 15.3 Engage both latches and push firmly to seat the dome onto the base. 15.6 The assembled unit can be flash tested at five PSI (34 kpa) maximum. Note: Release pressure after testing. 13
