W913 - Retrofitting Spacer Sleeves on the Clamps on the Front Muffler (Workshop Campaign) Vehicle Type: 911 Carrera (997)/911 Carrera S (997) 911 Carrera 4 (997)/911 Carrera 4S (997) 911 Targa 4 (997)/911 Targa 4S (997) Model Year: 2009 Concerns: Clamps on front muffler. Information: This is to inform you of a voluntary Workshop Campaign on certain 2009 model year 911 Carrera/S (997), 911 Carrera 4/4S (997) and 911 Targa 4/4S (997) vehicles. There is the possibility of excessive clamping force on the clamps on the front muffler increasing the force of vibrations on the exhaust system. As a result, it is possible that the exhaust pipes on the rear mufflers can crack on vehicles with high mileage. This can cause noises and leaks at the rear mufflers. To remedy the situation, limit the clamping force on the clamps on the front muffler by retrofitting additional spacer sleeves. Also check the exhaust pipes on both rear mufflers for cracks and damage close to the welded seams for the connecting tabs and replace the relevant rear muffler if necessary. Information Vehicles that have been retrofitted with the upgraded Porsche Exhaust System or aftermarket exhaust, do not need the campaign performed. Please fill out a PWAR to proceed with updating the Campaign Database. Affected Vehicles: A total of 5172 US and Canadian vehicles fall within the scope of this Workshop Campaign. Very Important! Use the VIN range below as a general guideline. The VIN can be checked in the WWS for confirmation of an open workshop campaign (Also see PIWIS VIN Information). The affected Vehicle Identification Numbers are contained in the following VIN Ranges: USA 2009 911 Carrera (997) Coupe WP0AA299X9S706067 to WP0AA29999S707050 USA 2009 911 Carrera S (997) Coupe WP0AB29949S720074 to WP0BB29979S733325 USA 2009 911 Carrera (997) Cabrio WP0CA29939S740067 to WP0CA29979S740654 USA 2009 911 Carrera S (997) Cabrio WP0CB29909S754070 to WP0CB29959S755778 Canada 2009 911 Carrera (997) Coupe Page 1 of 7
