Figure A Power Pole Top Cap Trim Plate L Bracket (Long leg attached to top of panel) Ceiling Installation (AEC, AEC, or AEC) Recommended Tools Variable Speed Drill with Torque Option Pop Rivets Riveting Tool Cutting Saw Knife Figure B AEC Ceiling Assembly Plug firmly and latch Spring Clips Power entry connections must be made by a licensed electrician only. Installation must be in accordance with the National Electrical Code and Local codes. Measure the distance between top of the panel and ceiling. Add sufficient length above the ceiling to allow for proper support and fastening. Cut the pole to length. Slide power pole up to ceiling and mark outline, and cut the power pole opening in the ceiling tile. With panels in final location, slip trim plate onto power pole. Bend ears on trim plate up and slide along length of tube allowing plate to float (Figure A). Insert power pole through ceiling tile. Attach long leg of L brackets to top of panel using /" hex washer head self tapping screws provided (Figure A). Attach "L" brackets to power pole using 0 x x 5/8" Phillips pan head screw provided. Figure C Right Angle Connector Trim Plate Ears If you have any questions concerning these instructions, please call Kimball Customer. 5 Junction Box Screws Trim Plate Slide cover of AVPP8D up to install AEC. Plug AEC connector firmly into receptacle location and secure in place by latching spring into holes of receptacle support bracket (Figure B). Drill 5/" pilot holes for attaching junction box. Attach junction box to top of power pole with two Phillips head #8 x 5/8" thread forming screws provided (Figure C). Install right angle connector in back of box and cut flexible conduit to required length. Feed color coded wires into box and fasten securely (Figure C). Bracketry to support power box in ceiling is to be supplied by contractor. Package Qty. 7 Secure box above the ceiling surface in an approved manner (Figure D). Figure D Ceiling Installation (AEC, AEC, or AEC) Mount electric box to a caddy tee bar box hanger (caddy no. 5 or similar) that has been clipped on the ceiling suspension tee bars. The box should then be positioned for vertical alignment with the panel. Important: The tee bar brackets and the box must be securely attached to overhead suspension wires so that the box load is not supported by the ceiling (Figure D). An adjustable bar hanger (RACO 9) or similar can be attached to the upper face of the box (Figure E) or a footed support (RACO 9 or similar) can be attached to the holes in the vertical power pole (Figure F). Either option should be rigidly connected to the ceiling supports. Figure E Suspension Wire Caddy Tee Bar 8 Attach trim plate ears to power pole using /8" inch pop rivets. Adjustable Bar Hanger Power supply to the junction box must be /" trade size or other approved conduit. After installation is completed the top opening in the power pole may be sealed with an approved sealant if required by codes. In Canada: A CSA approved box must be supplied by contractor and installed to Canadian Code. Figure F Warning: Do not interconnect panels powered from different feed units. This can cause shock and fire hazard. This panel system may be connected to more than one source of supply. All sources must be disconnected prior to any servicing. No single circuit may be powered by more than one source. Footed Support If you have any questions concerning these instructions, please call Kimball Customer.
